First of all, let me say that this is not intended to be a negative review, and the owners have clearly worked very hard to create a comfortable and relaxing environment for their guests and the morning breakfast was wonderful. However, I feel compelled to say a few things that I wish were evident before I booked our stay here. First and foremost, when I read that pets were not allowed I assumed then it was a dog or cat free B&B. Not so. The owners have three dogs and two huge fury cats. If I had known this upfront I never would have stayed here. There was cat and dog hair on the floor of our room and in the bathroom despite strict rules to keep all doors shut at all times. Furthermore, in the AM I had to fetch something from the car and almost stepped on pet droppings in the hallway and had to grapple with a doggie fence blocking the stairway to the main entrance. In addition they also have a loud parrot which promptly woke me up at 7 AM with a loud squawk. The layout of the rooms is another thing you should consider. We have stayed in B&B's many times before but this experience felt more like staying in a stranger's house while they were home. The upstairs rooms are along the same hallway, guests and the owners alike, which doe not create an atmosphere of privacy at all, as one morning I stepped out of our room and their master bedroom door was wide open .Imagine staying at an Air B&B with the owners home, that's what this felt like to us and the pool was not heated.

First of all please allow me to clarify a few things. Many of the things posted in this review were never brought up when I contacted you personally to ensure you were happy after your stay. The only thing mentioned was that you were unhappy with the fact that we have cats and you were allergic. To remedy this as best I could, I kept the cats in the office from 7 am until 2 pm every single day of your stay. The only times they were allowed to come out was when you were off premise or at night. Second, all guests are sent an email immediately after booking advising very clearly that we have small pets on site. Sometimes this email goes into your spam, I am not privy to your actual email address for security reasons. It is true, no external pets are permitted. We have 3 guest suites on site. Two are downstairs, one is upstairs. If you were able to see into our master suite at the end of the hall it would have been simply because I dashed in quickly to grab something, as that is our private space and never left open, for obvious reasons. We take pride in the cleanliness of our house. The entire home and living space is hard wood, cleaned 1-2 times daily. There have never been pets in any bedroom, including our own. With the daily housekeeping of your room, I never once noticed any pet hair in either your suite or bathroom. The dogs are crated in the evenings from 930 pm until the morning. We have 2 very tiny (only 9 lbs each), quiet dogs, and a cocker spaniel. None of these animals bark excessively or make noise to disrupt guests, I manage this very carefully. Finally, the pool is heated to 78 degrees, rain or shine. We put the heat up for any guests wishing it warmer. Finally, we are not an Air bnb, we are a Bed and Breakfast, and live on site, which is the norm here in Kelowna. Thank you for your feedback. Owner, Chateau du Lac
