Where should I start? The hotel has a top location, only few walking minutes from the beach and city center. The Lobby looks very cozy and charming. So after check in we were happy to enter our room. As we entered our room - we changed our mind directly. The smell in the room was disgusting. We opend the window to get some fresh air and to get rid of the smell. The room was very old, not cozy at all, no air con.! (And it was really hot at night!) The room needs a overheld! The breakfast was ok, but very crowed and no big choices. Quality/price doesn't match at all. Sorry but I won't return to this hotel, even with his good location I know that there are much better Hotels in Ostende for cheaper prices!
Turned up for a business trip. Waited 20 minutes to check in. Eventually got my room. The same room they gave my colleague, he hated it too. Got to my room. Smelly. Dirty. Cramped. Boiling hot. Opened window to the fire escape to cool down and there was a family sat there. Went to reception and asked to change. Said I could pay 50 euros more for another. I asked for my money back. Answer-no! Asked for my invoice-no! Went to another brilliant hotel at half the price. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Utter rubbish
Renovated bathrooms, but no shower, not even combined with a tube at your 190€ superior room, just a tube with a short handle - terrible. No possibilities to wash your hair. That's why only 1 star. Library is just a decoration. Breakfast not possible to carry by yourself to your room. Wifi is bad quality.
Been to Ostend many times and stopped in many hotels always booking the ferry and hotel ourselves and for the last few years stopping at a branded hotel around the corner. I spotted a deal with a well known short break operator with a great price and one night free if you book two so we booked the Imperial the hotel is truly beautiful its like walking into a Mayfair Hotel gorgeous drapes and furnishings and above all immaculate everywhere. The dining room is furnished with comfy crushed velvet chairs in burnt orange, crimson and copper colours and looks very classy. Breakfast is the usual fayre with boiled eggs as well as the usual stuff and we were offered scrambled eggs by the waitress. The bar is small but the lounge is decorated like a library again very classy. The location is perfect right opposite the casino and right near shops, bars and the beach. We had room 21 with a sea view. The only downside was the lack of a walk in shower the high sided bath may be a problem for some and the shower hose does not reach head height and there is no shower curtain.
Hotel relatively correct at first impression. Situation good, slant opposite the Casino and near of the sea front (parallel road behind the sea promenade). We got a room at third floor, "see side", we could see a little bit of the sea through the passage leading to the sea front promenade. Room was clean, standard equipped. Bathroom also clean and standard equipped. Breakfast is standard, however little choice of warm food (only powder omelette and small Frankfurt Wurst, no bacon, beans, mash potatoes, etc...) and some hard pre-cooked "boiled eggs". All these are positive points. However: 1. When the next room to ours was eventually occupied, the communication door between the two rooms appeared to be absolutely not soundproof/isolated and everything which was said by the people in that room could be dinsticly heard in ours! So vice-versa I would imagine and as confirmed the next morning by the lady occupying that room together with her daughter. 2. In the bathroom, there was no shower curtain over the bathtube, which resulted in a fairly messy wet floor in front of the bathtube, after showering. This remark, we saw eventually, was already appearing in other reviews of same place, but the hotel's management doesn't seem to have "got" the message! 3. When going to sleep, matrasses (twin bed principle) were obviously not enough comfortable, hard due to over-usage and need to be replaced. 4. We rent a garage place, situated at about 300m from the hotel at a price of 20€/day, thus 40€ for the two nights, when asking to settle the costs before departing, reception refused payment by BANCONTACT, and accepted only CASH or international Credit Card! For a pretended 3*** hotel, this is not client friendly in our opinion. Not everybody holds a VISA Card or American Express Card or Master Card!
at the very center of the city and 100 from the north sea, this 3 star hotel is excellent, also the breakfast , count euro 160 per night for two, breakfast included, the service was done by people who are not flemish, but can speak it , english is no problem
The Imperial hotel is in a fantastic location in Ostende just minutes walk to the beach or many shops, pubs and restaurants. We spent two nights here with our young daughter the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had lots of choice and all nice and freshly made. We were on floor 6 and you sometimes had to wait a long time for the lift usually mornings. We are still missing 'snuggly bear' that my daughter left in her bed at the hotel but he was never found 😕...keep your eyes open for a pink bear if you visit lol....definitely recommend and will stay here again.
An absolutely shocking place to stay at not even reasonable prices, over £100 per night to sleep in a single bed on top of a plastic sheet , really hot and sweaty and very noisy from the street outside! The bath was 4 foot long so I could not sit in it being six foot tall, the shower was at tap level with nowhere to hang it and no shower screen! No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and a very dark and dingy room. The lift was so old it took ages to arrive and only one lift for the whole hotel. Avoid this disgusting place like the plague ! Top tip don't stay here go elsewhere
Stayed for 2 nights, a short break with friends. Public areas are good, the breakfast room is ok, but avoid at busy times. The breakfast was below average, with poor quality products. The tea and juice were fine. The rooms, were painted in the most awful and depressing colour I have ever seen in an hotel room, dated furniture, with no comfy seats, the bed was comfortable, and luckily I had a room facing out onto the main street, which had a large bathroom (room 44) my friends did not fair so well on the 2nd floor rooms 27 & 28 these had tiny bathrooms and were dark and dingy. We stayed here because Ostend was full, it was a bank holiday weekend.
Small dark red rooms (double avoid #25) Moved to #44, better, not much Owners save money by not having shower curtains, kleenex, normal soft toilet paper, or room service. However the personell are pleasent. .
