I have visited this hotel for the past 26 years and I have seen it change namaes 5 times . I have been visiting 5 - 6 times a year , and everytime i stayed it was first rate , always staying on the fifth floor front balcony room , but this time the room I was in was sub standard very small and very smelly of sewers and when this was pointed out to the desk staff they told me that it was due to the weather . BUT STILL I SLEPT IN A SMELLY UNCLEAN ROOM AND PAID THE FULL PRICE . THE BREAKFAST AS USUAL WAS GREAT AND THE BREAKFAST STAFF WONDERFUL .
Size of the iroom is 3,5 x 4,5m. It is supposed to be called "Privilege Room". The best room available in the hotel. From the entrance door to the bathroom/toilet it's an obstacle course. You have to move chairs at the desk and go sideways past the bed to get out there. The Wi-Fi connection didn't work on the 5th floor in the room. I made some tests. I found out that their router wasn't even close enough to get a stabel signal. Went out in the hallway and had to put my laptop on the floor to even get a connection...:(. The room is FILTHY!!!!. Real old dust on the circuit breakers (not white but grey). NOT RECOMMENDABLE AT ALL!!! Stay away an avoid the agony I had. I wonder why Mercure still have them on their hotel list ??? P.S. The HDMI wasn't available with the LAME excuse because of hackers. Gold member
The hotel is right in the Oostende downtown, it's near the Promenade and city walks. Lot of restaurants and stores near the hotel. Room was nice and clean and breakfast was really good, both pastries and continental breakfast were well cooked. There is no free parking in the neighboorhood and the Hotel offers parking for 20 euro/day, not a great offer.
Stayed at Mercure Ostend this week while in Belgium on a business trip. My better half accompanied me. Hotel appears to be newly renovated. Rooms lovely and the only criticisms I have is that the pillows were not to my liking. (Too hard and very thick.) Breakfast was very good as you'd expect from Mercure chain. Reception staff were friendly & professional. Hotel parking charge is cheaper than the public car park located below the street. B&B room rate is very reasonable. I would stay here again.
The hotel is located in the heart of Ostend, nearby the casino - the sea promenade - the mercator sail ship as well as the shopping streets. Rooms are rather small but are equiped as you would except in a Mercure hotel. Staff is very friendly and you can order soft drinks at any time. The breakfast is delicious with a wide choice of options. The hotel has also paid garage boxes in the private parking located under the park (it is 2 minutes walk to the hotel). This service has to been reserved in advance because the number of places is limited.
The superior room was not superior at all...it was very small, the same for the bathroom. The bed was as hard as stone. Personel was friendly and breakfast very good which should be for 20 euro/ person.
First time in this hotel, it was a great choice, warm welcome, small but good room with a nice terrace, the weather cooperating. Simple but complete breakfast buffet. also had dinner one evening, it was good. Hotel also provides private parking (at a cost). Will return!
One of the best hotels in Ostend. Excellent staff, easy check in and out. Breakfast excellent. Rooms are quiet and have very good air conditioning. Rooms contain tea making facilities and beds are comfortable. The only negative is that my room had two single beds which were rather narrow and didn't seem to like one another and decided to part company in the night!
Dirty and torn linen, tiny rooms, towels with stains, dirty WC, loud airconditioner, empty minibar, poor bar, overall impression of old and untidy 3 star hotel The hotel craces for refurbishment and overall does not comply with Mecure brand rrquirements
Just returned from our yearly midweek break to this hotel, as usual the customer service was excellent, room very comfortable, breakfast buffet was excellent. The location is near the park, shops and the beach. I recommend Den Artiste for evening meal, the biggest ribs I've seen. All in all a great time as usual.
