This is a clean, modern hotel with a good breakfast and nice rooms. It is a good base for touring Flanders and is situated on the outskirts of Ypres. It can get busy and the car park gets full. As it hosts coach trips breakfast can also be busy at times. Walking to the city centre, however, is not easy and not pleasant after dark as there are no footpaths in the vicinity of the hotel that is on an out of town industrial/ retail site.
The rooms where good but the food was not great. They had no vegetarian option at the time and the apples we were given were cooking apples rather than eating apples so didnt taste nice. The ladders holding up the bed fell off a few times causing the bed to go up in room 108 and you got stuck for a bit
Would not have picked this location, a good 20 minute walk from the Menen Gate along a road with sections without a footpath. It was adequate, clean and the rooms a reasonable size. But the pillows were small and lumpy. The bar offered a few good Belgian beers, served with a dish of peanuts. The staff were often perfunctory. They did not seem happy in their work. Breakfast was quite reasonable, with a good selection of options.
Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Ypres. Just on edge of town. Rooms were clean and functional. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good restaurant/bar area and breakfast was excellent wide choice of fresh cheese meat and pastries as well as cooked food. I would stay here again
The hostel works okay for groups. The bar staff were very slow and a little bit grumpy. And I suggest that you don't ask for ice in the bar. They don't have a scoop and so if you ask for ice they use their hands to scoop it out of the ice machine and into the glass. I watched one of the bar staff hold his hand to his mouth, he coughed, and then without wiping let alone washing his hand, he used it to scoop ice into a customer's glass.
This is 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel, it is conveniently situated not far from centre of Ypres, plenty of parking. Rooms are good with excellent showers & comfy beds. Plenty of choice at breakfast & food in restaurant (for evening meal) was good. My only gripe is that the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening, which was a bit of a nuisance to us. Also centre of Ypres (the main square) is closed to traffic on Sunday's until around 6.30. We had a job to find a convenient parking space in order to eat in Ypres due to Hotel's closure of restaurant. Just one small point the hotel are sticklers about checking in time, so don't arrive before 3pm.
rooms very clean and tidy, if a little tired, on the list for refurbishment, staff great but as no till in the bar, each time we were served we got a different total. The breakfast was all freshly cooked to order and the home made bread was delicious, we were kindly given some of the bread to take home and we did enjoy it. We would stay here again, the only downside was it was situated out of town, but local taxi firm dealt with us each time, they again were so friendly and accommodating, they brought suitable cars and people carriers depending on how many of us went out each time, they also collected us to return to hotel within a few mins. of us phoning, this was another family run business.
Good clean spacious rooms within a reasonable walk of the old town of Ieper. It is a large hotel dealing with a lot of people. Food quality good albeit mass produce. Dining room is managed well given arge number of guests. Floating timber floors mean rooms can be a bit noisy from footfall / neighbouring rooms but OK as long as other guests don't play bagpipes at 0530 in the morning. What possesses people to think that is somehow acceptable beats me. Good value for money and reasonably accessible to the old town.
Stayed one night in this hotel while visiting Ypres. Very comfortable room. Friendly receptionist who dealt with check in and out quickly. Free parking. Comfortable quiet room. Nice restaurant with good food. Free breakfast. Recommended.
This hotel is clean modern and has excellent air-conditioned bedrooms. The restaurant serves adequate plain evening meals at a very good price. However the breakfast is a highlight. One of the best I have experienced outside of 5 star hotels.
