We were given a room at the top of the property. At first glance we were a little downhearted at what looked to be a severely weathered exterior..until we realised that it's meant to look that way. Our room was beautiful. Cool, quiet, clean with a lovely aspect. Very friendly, helpful staff. Would certainly stay there again.
We stayed in one of the Waterfront Cottages for three nights (Miles Cottage) and found everything was enjoyable. The cottage had good air-con, and also has large opening windows if you like the fresh sea air, and the windows in the main room have insect screens. The room itself was spacious, with lounges, coffee table, large comfortable bed, a bureau with flat screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, mini bar snacks (crisps, nuts etc). Also there was a good sized wardrobe and other storage, plus plenty of pillows and blankets. There was also an iron and full size ironing board. The bathroom was large and modern, with shower, toilet, vanity and opening window, and also a heat light in the ceiling. The location is quiet at night, and the front door opens onto a private pathway and a low picket fence runs along it to keep the path private. The cottage overlooks the harbour with a flat grassed area out front and park across the road. The river cruise boats leave from just across the street which is very handy. Also, its a short walk of about 20 mtrs to the bakery which opens at 6.30am (so you can buy breakfast before you board the cruise boat), and just a few metres further on is the hotel, which serves a large variety of meals and is kid friendly. Everything in town is only a short walk away. Parking for the cottages is free, and is located around behind them in a large asphalt allotment. A parking fee is in effect for the rest of the town. A laundromat is located at the side of the parking lot behind the cottages. There's only one step from the path to the front door, and the path to the cottage is flat concrete - running straight from the parking lot, and continuing along to the shops, so everything is easy travelling no matter what your fitness level is. Despite this being the January high season, we did not encounter large crowds anywhere. Reception in the main building is open until very late, and re-opens in the early morning. There is a computer available for use there. All the staff we met were helpful and obliging. All in all, a great place to stay, and we would definitely stay there again.
I booked this through booking.com, I paid the extra and booked the waterfront suite. It was good because it was ground level with parking right at the door and the spa was a nice way to finish off the day. The view from up at the breakfast area was beautiful. We had to move outside from the dining area at breakfast because there was a very loud birthday party of kids with party whistles. (perhaps they should’ve had this after the breakfast session?) The breakfast buffet was the usual - cereal, fruits, cooked foods like bacon and eggs.
Spacious, clean and comfortable room. The shower was excellent and very nice toiletries were provided. Good tea/coffee facilities. My room also had a fridge. Fabulous location. Cafes and restaurants are a two minute walk away.
Well above the waterfront buildings of Strahan harbour, the resort offers glorious views. The rooms are of a good sized, and are well-equipped and comfortably furnished. The split-king bed was most welcome. The resort offers WiFi but the service was slow, so we used our own devices. The dining room offers both buffet breakfast and dinner, which are of a good standard. If we ever return to Strahan, the Village would be our first choice - very good value for money.
We booked our accommodation in November 2017 for 2 nights for 30-12-17 to 01-01-18 for a top floor executive suite with balcony. We arrived and went to book in to be told we had a ground floor room with a patio and views looking at the harbour through trees. The room was small, shabby, outdated and dark inside definitely not executive. After continual complaint from us the next night they transferred us to a top floor waterfront apt for New Years eve to sit on the balcony and watch the harbour fireworks. But we had a tree directly blocking our view of the fireworks. Overall a terrible experience. Never go there again John Ward
We stayed in one of the waterfront cottages. It’s a great location but the room is getting very tired and dated. Chairs were ripped and pictures on the wall were very faded. Ants were all over our pillows. On the plus side, the bed was huge and comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. The Strahan waterfront is pretty much owned by the one company so service leaves a bit to be desired as there is no competition. If you’re not doing a cruise or the train trip I would not bother visiting Strahan.
Panoramic view of the bay with its beautiful boats Moderate breakfast but add the panoramic views , basic good food not more. The room is very big and has an extra bed, the bathroom is Very big, however all decoration is old, but the bed was very convenient to sleep in. Parking near the room....if you can find a parking free spot
We booked 2 standard rooms of which 1 was a family room and they are in the very old motel blocks on top of the hill. They are very, very daggy. Our room had a semi-renovated bathroom and that was about it. Curtains must be 40 years old and the sofa bed was so worn out you nearly disappeared when you sat on it. Estimated age of sofa bed would be 30 years +. I pity anyone who actually wanted to sleep on it. The beds were small, with very cheap, hard and worn mattresses and worn out, flat pillows. There may be better options with other more expensive rooms but at the going rates this wasn't an option. If you wanted to eat in the restaurant they had a seafood buffet at $57 per head. I'm not sure how many were taking this up. The whole place is very tired and generally in need of major upgrading. Included wifi was next to useless. For the money I would look for better quality, self catering accommodation next time.
From our Hilltop Harbourview Room we had the most breath-taking views. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Long walk down and back to town centre but well worth it. Cottages at town level looked lovely as well. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Check-in was very professional.
