I've stayed four nights there, as I was attending the Hannover Fair. Room clean, staff friendly, breakfast buffet simple but good quality, good location (for my need, as it is just a few walks away from railways station), quiet, reasonable priced.
-Boring breakfast -First room I stayed in the shower drain was clogged (I told reception, they said they would fix but never did). -Second room I stayed in I could smell smoke frequently. -Room amenities I'd expect in a 50 euro a night hotel, not 115. Eye wateringly overpriced. Only positives were the staff were nice and the location was good.
Was pleasantly surprised to find that I was upgraded to a suite. The room was huge, especially compared to a previous stay at the Hotel Stadt Hannover in Goettingen. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the city center but very convenient to the train station. The hotel decor especially in the breakfast room felt like a step back to the 1970s. Nevertheless, the hotel is very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
I stayed at this hotel for a 4-day business trip to Göttingen. I had a general good impression of the hotel. To be more specific: + FREE WIFI! I read this in many reviews that wifi costs at this hotel. Bust as of June 2016 this was clearly not the case anymore, and one is online within two clicks. Internet is also fast and reliable. + I liked the light-coloured and bright design of the rooms and the hotel. Oftentimes hotel hallways are dark and depressing, and almost scary. This hotel was the exact opposite and this somehow really made a difference. + Nice location next to the train station, also safe and proper area. As a single woman traveler I had no worries walking back at night. + Rooms are clean, and nicely prepared. + I liked the bathroom a lot. Clean and lots of room to put things. Also none of these weird modern showers with no door, but a proper "closed-door" shower. This was very good. + Staff is friendly and helpful - The reception: Although people were friendly, there was almost always a line of 1 or two people, and this sometimes took a while. If you just come back and want to grab your key this is annoying. Having a backup receptionist would help. - Breakfast was ok but nothing special. I missed a proper coffee. They only had thermos cans of filter coffee on the tables and coffee cream. For a 100 a-night hotel I would have liked at least some fresh milk for my coffe and a csppucino machine! Also the scrambled eggs (my favoiurite part of hotel breakfast) had a weird consistency and were almost tasteless. Not awful, just tasteless. To sum up: Great hotel, enjoyed my stay, with a few lacks and a bit pricey for what it is.
It is a good hotel in terms of rooms, cleanliness and location. A bit out of fashion in terms of decoration. Is close to the train station and at 10 minutes walk from the historical city center. A big problem: there is no free internet in the rooms.... and that you must consider very negative if you are in business trip.
The Intercity Hotel is located on the back side of the train station, within a short walking distance but in a dull area as compared to the nice historic city center on the opposite side of the station. Rooms are pretty much the standard of this chain, and there is the usual Intercity hotel bonus that public transport tickets are provided free of charge. Unfortunately, the quality of the buffet breakfast is below the standards of other hotels of the chain. Food is edible, but certainly not a reason to stay here. Choice is a bit more limited, but what really matters is that it is less fresh (not old and disgusting, but not really appealing) and many products are apparently low-end discounter brands. So breakfast is just okay.
the room was clean, the breakfast ok, the staff polite and the location good; the hotel rates 4-star, but too many things are missing: no coffee/tea amenities in the room, no free wifi in the room, a good German breakfast but nothing out of the ordinary - a good 3-star hotel
This hotel is very close to the station and a short walking distance to the town centre. The rooms are bright and basic - no tea/coffee facilities, a TV and plenty of storage space. Good sized shower. The rooms and hotel are clean and tidy. The bar area is small and not very well stocked but functional. Breakfast was good and very reasonably priced. Gottingen is well worth a visit a very beautiful place.
We arrived late evening. Check in was smooth; but mind you, not all staff are friendly as we came to know during our week long stay. The rooms are pretty simple with small sized bathrooms. No toiletries are provided except for liquid soap in large refillable dispensers. Otherwise the rooms are cleaned each day. And yes, the roadside rooms are very noisy unless you keep the windows shut (not a good option during summer). The buffet breakfast is blank: the menu gets repeated each day. Probably the hotel is good enough only for a night's stay because of which the hotel staff are reluctant to change the menu. The big advantage the hotel has is that its proximity to the railway station (10 minute walk). High street is only 15 to 20 minute walk but this advantage may not be significant given the fact that Goettingen is a small town. The free wifi did not work in the room during the last two days
stayed here because the accommodation in Hanover was fully booked, or ridiculously expensive owing to a trade fair in Hannover. If you find yourself in the same position, then this is a good choice, as the train from Hannover is quick, and not too pricey. It is a basic hotel, very basic. The room was bland, no pictures on the wall, course wall finishing, and the bathroom tiny. I had a double room, so the one bed I needed was too small, especially if you are used to a double bed. Staff were ok. I arrived early 12, and was told my room was not ready. Allowed me to use the bar however, so had a few beers which were served in a typical european fashion -33% head and 67% beer! And expensive. It is a bland place, lacking in personality and style. But it does what it says on the tin. If I was holidaying, it would not be on my list.
