Howard Johnson Express Inn - Leavenworth

This hotel is located close to downtown, with all the festivities and the cuteness of the town located just out the window. The view of the mountains were also fantastic and the room had a lot of space to move around. Easy parking, but only one working small elevator which makes it challenging when you have 5 people and luggage going up and down. Otherwise, it was cute, and did not feel like a box hotel with all the same. We enjoyed the stay a lot.

Beautiful setting and friendly staff! Very clean. Great breakfast.

I definitely recommend the hotel. It's not incredibly lush, but you're likely not going to spend much time in the hotel if you're staying in Leavenworth. It's clean, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is adequate, and the staff is nice.

Spacious and clean. Easy walk into center of town.

The hotel was at best average and the parking was a little unusual however since I made my plans at the very last minute, I had no room to complain. I had no idea the Christmas Lighting Festival was such a huge deal and was very fortunate to get a room at all. I originally could only get close enough to lodge in Wenatchee. I'd stay there again but would prefer to move closer to city center.

The hotel was decent and clean. My only real complaint (other than the breakfast) is that my friends stayed in two different hotels in town for about the same price ($10-20 more per night), and their hotels were MUCH nicer. Maybe we booked at different times, I'm not sure. But if you can find a different place for the same price, do it. Also don't expect much from the continental breakfast, the powdered eggs are inedible. I suppose if you can get by with a waffle and a cup of yogurt you'll be ok.

easy check in and pretty good breakfast, needs updating

The staff where nice but the room was run down and falling apart. The bathroom door was coming apart and the light above the bathroom sink was breaking off. We went to have breakfast one morning and walked away hungry. No one refilled any of the food so it was all empty. No eggs, no gravy for the biscuits, no milk for the cereal, or juice left to drink. After our first morning we went to a neighboring hotel who took care of the breakfast bar and paid for our family to eat there every morning. The fan in the bathroom smells like burnt hair every time you turned it on, then your room smelled not only musty but of burnt hair. We thought as the only chain hotel in the entire town that a standard would be upheld from the chain but no. We will go elsewhere.

Leavenworth is a tourist town. I would expect everything to be pricey. But not all are worth the money. Because it is peak season I would say we paid a fair price being close in city center of Leavenworth. The bed is comfy. The room has an old place smell. The Microwave in our room at least needs to be updated. Hot breakfast was good. Hubby was expecting his bacon too though. :)

Good place for the price in Leavenworth. There are other hotels with a better location (closer to the city center), but were way more pricier than this one.

The woman at the front desk was efficient, kind, personable, caring, and apologetic. Housekeeping does not clean mirrors. First room's floor was not vacuumed well, freezer was nearly frozen over, and t.v. was not dusted, but the second room we were offered was much cleaner, yet they still did not clean the entire mirror in the bathroom or on the door. Sheets were very clean, and the microwave and table tops, too. Breakfast is not as good as previous visit. Small amount of O.J and milk is kept in the carafe at all times so people are only filling cups half way trying to make it last and share, and when a request was made it was quickly filled a few inches more but not even half way, so people kept trying to share the small amount. No bacon or sausage but there were dry biscuits with decent sausage gravy (not from a can), and two kinds of mini muffins (tan and dark brown) which both tasted like banana. I guess they were old and stored together. Two waffle makers were available and a very good strawberry mixture to top it. Pre-made folded over eggs (didn't try them because they looked pre-frozen). So, here's the wrap-up we have stayed here twice because we like the slightly longer walk to town and my teen enjoys a place that serves breakfast. This time, on the second morning we just couldn't bring ourselves to try it again and drove to the other side of town for McD's breakfast sandwiches. If the breakfast isn't good, then there are other comparable places to stay without it. There is an outdoor pool that looked very good but we didn't use it this time. Without decent food, my son would rather try something different and so would I, even if it costs $20 more per night.

We traveled big family of 7 and booked 2 rooms. This hotel exactly matches it 2*. Very comfortable location near our main way and not far from tourist activities. Rooms were bigger than usual in 2* Staff was very friendly. May be a bit expensive, but Leavenworth is expensive in any time. In general, my expectations are fully justified.

Decent price, but low compared to surrounding options

Great location to stay for Oktoberfest. Far enough away to keep the noise down but close enough to walk. Great staff, made the trip very comfortable.

The breakfast was great. Staff was very friendly. A hot tub would have been good.

The staff tries here but this place is REALLY showing it's age, I stayed there 40 years ago and not much but fresh paint has changed, the floors creak the AC is really noisy, the "quiet time after 10PM" apparently didn't apply to the family in the room above us and the place smells like an old smoked in hotel. Time to knock it down and start over. We stayed two nights, July 3rd and 4th and the room rates were $104 and $156.............260 bucks for a two night stay and I really didn't feel comfortable using the shower. There are not a lot of hotel choices in the area and the vast majority are old and outdated just like this one. Stay in Wenatchee and drive into town...............

Don't eat the biscuits and gravy for breakfast! Other than that it was average I guess.

We had a very nice time in a very clean and comfortable room. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The continental breakfast was well laid out and nicely attended with a staff member to help out. The location was just a little bit further than I like to walk from the downtown area but it was very doable.

The staff was very friendly helpful and accomodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in easy walking distance to downtown. The continental breakfast was very much appreciated.

Nice room layout, king jacuzzi suite. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice location.
