We had nothing but a great experience staying at this hotel for one night. We were lucky enough to receive a free upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite, which was very nice. The staff were extra helpful and friendly when I called before our arrival to find out about parking options. And the staff at reception were very efficient and informative. The bed & pillows were very comfy! The location is great right in the centre of the city and walking distance to mostly everything. I would definitely stay here again.
I stay here at least twice a month and it is the preferred accommodation when on business in Weĺlington. The apartments are spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is very handy and the staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. Can't fault it.
My husband and I have just stayed here for the weekend having gone to Wellington for the ABs vs Lions test-match. Because this is a huge sporting event our choices were limited but this hotel/serviced apartments did look ok on the website. But it was far from ok. I agree with the previous comment of friendly staff. The lady who checked us in was very nice. But when we initally arrived at the reception desk the one staff member who was present was on the phone and essentially ignored us. I understand you have to deal with one thing at a time but surely eye contact and a smile to acknowledge us wouldn't have been too much to ask for...? Another staff member then turned up and attended to us. We were on the 16th floor and did have a nice view. We also had a comfortable king sized bed and the location is very good. But I don't have anything else positive to say about it unfortunately. The 1 bdrm 'apartment' we stayed in was tiny...so much so that we were practically falling over eachother each time we got up and moved around. Quite ambitious to call it an apartment in my opinion! It was small and pokey and poorly maintained. There was no TV in the bdrm (despite there being a power point and aerial socket in the wall) and the TV in the lounge was small with the power cords wrapped around it. The kitchenette was the size of a broom cupboard. Likewise the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was very high (usually a good thing) but the shower rose very small so it was like trying to shower under a fire-hose. And on the morning we checked out we ran out of hot water half way through the first shower. So I had a cold shower and hubby missed out altogether. There wasn't really anywhere to hang towels except above the toilet....yuck! I could hear the lifts going up and down from our room...quite noisy. Overall, there were a couple of good points (namely the location) but the poor quality of the room really over-shadowed that. I would also like to mention that the 'balcony' was not something I would feel safe to stand on and I would question whether the balconies are even compliant/legal. We wouldn't stay here again for all the tea in China...
Positives to the Hotel are location and staff at reception and housekeeping were friendly. Once again great camera work makes potential customers assume that the rooms and the premises are flasher than they are in real life. The entrance and reception reminded me of a bordello set from a movie. The rooms were clean enough. As there were four of us we were allocated rooms side by side. These are advertised as apartments, I would strongly disagree . One room we were told had a kitchen while the other had a cabinet housing a microwave with tea/coffee facilities and utensils. Although different facilities, the money charged was the same. The kitchen was basically a small square with room for one person. This "apartment" was frozen and the heater was nowhere near adequate. In contrast the other room with the cupboard was absolutely boiling. No drawer space for clothing which was annoying as we were staying for 5 days. Launderette facilities are available on site (another cupboard) which houses 2 washers and 2 dryers. However I was unable to use it until lunchtime as the staff were using it constantly the morning I was trying to access it. Generally the Hotel needs a drastic makeover and currently is well overpriced for what you get for your money.
Great stay. Fantastic location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and room was lovely and clean and serviced well. Easy walk to everything, including shops, waterfront, theatre's, etc.
Stayed here for a conference Friday and Saturday nights. Clean and modern room. No view/outlook but quiet because of this which is a bonus when staying in a central city hotel. Microwave, small fridge includes but no kitchen bench or sink so don't know how you would get on if you wanted to prep and cook food... bathroom only small bench. Shower was good. Toiletries supplied which is always handy when you flying with only carry on luggage. Towns changed daily, nice sheets and bedding. Not much else to report but would stay again and recommend to others!
Stayed in June for business. Paid over 300 NZD per night and the place was not even 3 star hotel. Carpet not vacuumed, kitchen cabinet doors greasy and covered in fingerprints, sofa nicely "tatooed" with footprints, oven disgraceful, red/brown marks on the wall in the bathroom... the pics speak for themselves. It seems there is no cleaning team on site since I was not proposed the room to be "refreshed". I was proposed a room on level 4, but that would have been closer to the street, so more noisy, and I suspect cleanliness is a general issue, not specific to my room. And for that price, you dont even get a harbour view.... Location is central with a good choice of restaurants around, so you dont have to use the kitchen. Would definitely not recommend. I booked last minute and did not have much choices. Look at Park Hotel, Bolton Hotel, Intercontinental or Sofitel (when it will re-open). Even Novotel (small rooms, but cleaner). It will be a better use of your money.
No TV in the bedroom. Very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom with no control over it as it was linked to the light switch. No soap dish by the hand basin. The person on reception was very pleasant and helpful with our requests.
Location was amazing, apartment was reasonably modern and clean. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment which was nice. The building is very run-down, desperate for a revamp. Room was very small, even though we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment, it was still cramped. The "views" are terrible.
The staff was very nice and helpful. And the location of the hotel is very good. But I did not like the room. It was 3 separate areas (bedroom, bathroom and living area) that were all small-ish. There was only a heater and TV in the living area living the bedroom closed off from the heat and no TV. The TV in the living area was mounted too high on the wall so that when you were sitting on the couch it was too high and the colors were off.The biggest problem was the bathroom. It had a vent to the outside that DID NOT CLOSE. It was winter so it was constantly letting in cold air! Also, the vent went out onto the next rooms balcony so if someone was out there they could easily see you if they wanted too. And the shower drain didn't work well and would flood the whole bathroom. Both myself and my husband left this property with a chest cold. We would not stay here again.
