Kimpton Rouge Hotel

Nice hotel with spacious rooms. Me and my fiancé stayed for Valentine's Day. I don't like that there is no self parking, Valet only. Which means that there's an extra $75 to park the car. smart business but not good for the customer. I could've used that money towards dinner. Overall the staff was very nice.

Our room was wonderfully large, well designed and comfortable. The furnishings were all in great condition and the staff attentive. Each evening featured a small, free happy hour in the lobby with wine and one appetizer. We did miss having a coffee maker in the room, although coffee was provided every morning in the lobby. The hotel did try to charge us $20/day for coffee and internet without even verifying that we used either, so be aware at check-out. Politely ask them to remove the charge and they should.

The hotel was very clean and very nicely decorated. The decor had a very 60ish, retro vibe that I loved. The hotels were dated and scared me a bit but other than that would definitely stay here again recommend this hotel to others.

clean great staff would go back there again and tell friends to go there

When traveling for business or leisure, we always stay at Kimptons. I've stayed at two other DC Kimptons during the last two years with great experiences and loved the unique touch added by each of them. The Rouge slightly disappointed me for two reasons. The first one is a minor issue but relates to the essence of Kimpton experience. They happy hour (with only one appetizer that happened to be fried and repeated for two days) was held right by the outside door during a very cold week. This was also where they serve free coffee. Frankly, it just did not feel special. The second reason behind my disappointment was that although my Orbitz receipt includes $48 for taxes and fees, I was given an invoice for another $45 for tax and fees. One of the receptionist explained that it was the resort fee. I don't understand why it was not labeled correctly.

Room wasn't very clean on arrival. A little dirty. Otherwise ok

I felt that the staff didn't treat me with any great hospitality and, on occasion, were even rude.

Hotel Rouge is a great place to stay if you're heading out the museums or galleries in DC. It's few blocks off of DuPont Circle so there's access to restaurants as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lack of coffeemakers in room is made up for by complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings and happy hour (wine) in the evenings.

We were blown away with the outstanding service at Rouge! When we checked in, our room wasn't ready but they gladly offered to store our bags and gave some great recommendations of things to see and do while we waited. They even texted us as soon as the room was ready! When we got to the room, there was a bottle of champagne on ice, some pastries and a card wishing us a happy anniversary! The location is also perfect. It's within walking distance of a lot of the best things to do in DC, or if you prefer, they also have bikes you can borrow. This will be our first choice next time we are in DC.

The front desk staff could not be bothered answering simple questions I had at check in. There was no line behind me, and no reason to rush me out the way. They were rude and not helpful. The location of the property was great, but I would not stay here again, I prefer nice staff over location.

I enjoyed it - great bargain through Groupon. The place is cool in a hipster neighborhood. I wore a button down shirt, but that is not quite retro yet. I wasn't quite cool enough for the neighborhood. I would go again for sure.

I stayed in DC on my own and found the hotel staff very helpful with pointing me in the right direction for great places to eat and things to see and do. I would definitely stay here again.

Great kick-off to the Cherry Blossom festival in DC. I love all the red decor and interior furnishings. My room was very spacious and chic. The staff was not very friendly at check-in, seemed distracted, but the staff at check-out was great. I loved the wine hour and the restaurant staff was great.

The staff and front desk was very friendly and accommodating and upgraded us to a suite.

Cool atmosphere, friendly helpful staff... Close to major roadways, near town center, perfect warm weather day trip

I liked the Rouge. I would stay here again. Staff very friendly, efficient, and attentive. Rooms very clean , bed very comfortable. Bathrooms a little small, but I think this is an older property. Shower was great though: hot water abundant with strong water flow. Within walking distance of all tourist attractions : the smithsonian, monuments, White House and within walking distances of good restaurants ; bring comfortable shoes. I do think they could update the salmoney colored wall paper and tiger striped carpet though.

Had to stay in town for a work function and was pleasantly surprised!

Rooms bigger than average and very comfortable. Beds are a bit soft for us but otherwise very nice. Great wine hour every night and although one of the staff was never nice and never once smiled the rest of the staff were lovely and went out of their way to help us. Also - it's a shame when you book through this site or as the sour faced staff member said " through a third party" (seriously, she said it as if we stole something) it's a shame you are not treated and allowed all the benefits of booking directly with the Hotel. I'm a member of their rewards program (karma or whatever they call it) yet I could not get the mini bar $10 credit or any Karma points simply because I booked through this site. In my opinion that is bad customer service. Other than that I'm a fan of this hotel - I just won't book through this site when I stay there again. And hopefully sour face might find a career better suited for her.

Rouge is in the perfect location. Close to shops, restaurants, and most importantly museums. However, the décor of the hotel is excessive.

Hotel Rouge was the perfect place to stay on my business trip to DC. Great location, terrific staff and quiet room, as requested.
