We have stayed here a few times in the last few years and it has gone downhill. On our last stay the bathroom was in a terrible condition. The stay before we had asked for twin beds and were placed in a room so tiny there was one small double bed. On complaining we were moved to a larger room in the depths of the hotel. On this occasion the room was a long way from reception in a dark area overlooking the rubbish bins. The air con/heating system was really noisy as was the extractor fan in the bathroom. When we switched these off all we could hear was some sort of extractor or similar from outside droning on. The lighting was very dim _ standardly so these days. There were only 2 plug sockets and the furniture was awkwardly arranged. The reception staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming and worse still the room, supposedly on an offer was quite expensive and did not include breakfast. We are looking elsewhere for our next visit
Stay here every year for a couple of days the staff are very helpful and attentive has a Starbucks and Marco’s on site and fair bit of parking space, sadly the hotel is getting tired looking now, but another great stay and good value.
With Holiday Inn you know what you are going to get. Competitive pricing, clean, good food @ Piers-Marco-White. Room 235 took a bit of finding but was spacious and bright. Kenilworth Castle is within walking distance and you feel that you can touch history.
We've stayed here a couple of times and it is a convenient, central location for Warwickshire in general and Kenilworth in particular. The staff are always welcoming and friendly which helps a lot. Parking is typically good if you don't arrive too late. The rooms are a little small and not terribly well sound proofed. If you're on the front of the building expect quite a bit of road noise and noise from people at the wine bar over the road at the weekend. The breakfasts are really good especially if you get the kids eat free deal. They really set you up for the day. Overall I'd recommend the Holiday Inn.
Great location.friendly staff, hotel clean and fairly modern Stayed 1 night as seeing firework display at Kenilworth castle.well located , was busy but parked ok and ate in Marco s which was lovely. Overall for a busy night hotel and staff catered very well.would recommend !
This is quite a large Holiday Inn and arriving at it the first challenge is parking the car. The car park surrounds the building but only allows for one car depth so there are not many spaces and those that are there are often difficult to park in and it leaves a narrow access for other cars to pass. Having parked however, the reception is functional and the staff polite and efficient. However there's no real atmosphere. There is a restaurant sponsored by Marco Pierre White, but having read the reviews I didn't try it. The room however was a pleasant surprise. It was tastefully decorated clean tidy and nicely proportioned. The WIFI was good despite the large number of rooms. Overall as a place to stay on business this was an OK hotel and shall be using it again.
Pros: Situated in High Street in Kenilworth room was clean friendly staff Cons: Pillow: Card in room saying if you need firmer or softer pillows please just ask! after 1 night of sleeping on hard pillows asked for soft so I could get some sleep over the 4 days. Guess what they don't have any other pillows. the poor lady from housekeeping was lovely and had gone into other rooms to try and find the softest but they were all the same... why advertise something when it's not something you can offer ! Breakfast: if you like fried meat you are fine. if you don't like meat or prefer a healthier breakfast go elsewhere and find it. Dinner at Marcos... pleasantly surprised the starter was lovely ate it all and then was incredible disappointed with the inedible main of spaghetti genovese the pasta was over cooked but had hard bits from being prob cooked day before and then reheated. then served covered in salt. asked for a green salad no dressing turned up covered in salt and cheese all inedible. probably ok for 1 night but any longer stay elsewhere
Disappointing to have to stay in the built on wing on 2nd floor. Rooms feel tired. Heating / air con not working. Electric heating was given to warm up room. Noisy - Next door to the sorry looking hotel "gym" (just a bedroom used as a gym with two working equipment)
Attended a group function here which included dinner from a pre-selected 3 course menu. First course chosen was tomato and basil soup which was very good. Then an inordinately long wait to get the main course. This probably accounted for the incredibly poor quality of the result. This is the second time I have ordered risotto at a hotel in recent weeks, and this one (wild mushroom risotto with arancini was probably worse that the first. The rice was so overcooked as to be gooey stodge and the mushrooms were rubbery - yuck! The fruit crumble dessert was acceptable. No more hotel risottos for me!
Friendly staff and a nice room, however it was a bit dark and dingy. The bathroom was lovely and modern. I got my hopes up because the tv had BBC iplayer and 4od but I couldn’t get either of these to work. Average stay really but did the job for a one night business trip.
