Open the door, walk into the room and it smelled of smoke. There was dirt on the carpet plus stains and burn marks. But what the hotel is interested in - how did you like the tv offer. Who cares about the TV if the room is not clean?
Ours was a very quick stop over in the hotel which is a fairly standard modern hotel for travellers needing an easy stop over from the motorway without getting too near to the urban sprawl of Brussels. Just had breakfast there which was the standard fare and fine. Not many staff around but those there were friendly and helpful.
This hotel only has one person on in an evening dealing with the bar (which isn't in the restaurant) and the restaurant, so you wait a long time for your food. The hotel was used as a stop over in Belgium by our Coach Tour at the start and end of our holiday, so we stayed in two different rooms. There is a railway track which runs along side the hotel which heavy freight runs along all night, so you are unable to have the window open, also the drains from the bath, shower and toilet really smell in the rooms. Staff were pleasant.
After our pathetic experience with IBIS Paris and tired of our whole day journey we reached this place with very little expectation. But vola ....this nice boutique resort was too good and welcoming. Room was quite big with three big bed. Toilets were clean and modern. Sorrounded by pool and green garden, this hotel wiped off our tiredness. Wavre place was itself like a picture postcard. Enjoyed staying here.
Where do I start with the problems? At 105euros per night for a hotel far away from the city center of Brussels, this was way overpriced. Issues faced: 1) Elevator broken. It's okay, I get it. You have just 1 Elevator in your hotel, and there aren't that many floors, I can climb. But what I could not understand is how the guy who checked me in could have the cheek to look at me and say 'oh you have a luggage, then you have to carry it up'. No customer service mindset whatsoever. 2) Rooms - dated, dirty, uncomfortable beds, old. The windows had dust bunnies all around it, the carpet and toilet stains were shocking. The only plus point? The heating and power pressure of the shower. 3) Bar - a very unwilling bartender who shrugs at you like providing any form of service has nothing to do with him. The bar in the hotel closes at 11pm but before that you will already have the bartender warning you this is the last round he's going to serve you. 4) Facilities - there is a very filthy outdoor pool, other than that you won't find a gym or other facilities available. Take your business elsewhere. Try the Ibis at Warve next time.
Quiet hotel not too far from the business park of Louvain-la-Neuve. Friendly staff willing to do an extra effort. The room is not very modern but decent and clean. The only minus is the small toilet space.
Modern two-storey building, easy to reach from the highway. Ample parking space. Children and disabled facilities. Friendly personnel at reception and restaurant. Sumptuous breakfast. Rooms equipped with two king size beds and essential furniture. Minibar existing but empty and locked. Very poor courtesy items. Average- to-high prices, variable along the week.
I must have had a refurbished room because mine was clean and appeared in very good condition! I read people saying the hotel is very affordable and it made me wonder if the price was higher when I stayed because I stayed over Wednesday night - both times I have been in the Wavre area, large groups of Asian tourists are at local hotels that night. Sure enough, I did a quick check of a couple weeks and the same number of days ENDING on Wednesday or STARTING on Thursday w ere much cheaper than trying to book the same number of days, but including Wednesday night. So, just be aware of that! Pros: *Very spacious room that appeared newly renovated with comfy bed and furniture *Looked out over quiet grass area (with seasonal pool and terrace near restaurant) *Rooms have a lever for a rubber seal around the door to block out hall noise (brilliant!) *Small side windows have screens, so you can get fresh air without the bugs *Staff is very friendly and bilingual (at least at the front desk) *Breakfast includes pastries, but also eggs, bacon and sausages *Soaking tub with separate shower and huge counter space *Excellent black out curtains Cons: *Not a problem for me, but another review mentioned the separate toilet in a tiny closet. This is actually rather common in Europe though, including in French homes/apartments. *The shower head is not angled nor adjustable - if you're not very short or very tall, it will be at the exact right height and angle to spray you full in the face. *Free WiFi is limited speed, so you'll need to pay 6 Euro more if you need to do anything significant In short, this 3* hotel held its own with the 4* hotel I stayed in the night before (I preferred this hotel actually). I will need to return regularly to this area for business and this is now my hotel of choice!
Second time we've stayed here for an overnight stop, last visit the hotel was fairly busy, this time around it was very quiet. Check-in was easy and the receptionist pleasant, but the main reason I chose this hotel was because we were able to eat in the restaurant last time and this is a convenient factor for me travelling with 3 young children, so it was very disappointing to find the restaurant was closed on our stay (not sure if this is every Sunday or not). However, a short walk away (tip: there is a footpath behind the hotel beside the railway line to avoid walking on the main road) is a Lunch Garden restaurant which also allow dogs, so I probably saved money anyhow!! The room, although overall pleasant, has only one plug socket for charging things (two if you unplug the kettle) and the toilet room smelt like it needed a good clean. Otherwise, very good hot water, strong shower, comfortable beds, and we slept well. Breakfast is okay, had better, but adequate. Overall, for the money it's acceptable, just, but I much prefer the Holiday Inn chain, just a shame there isn't one in this area. I would probably give it 3.5 stars if I could!
Stayed here for, thankfully, one night returning from a coach tour of Austria. The rooms our group were allocated were worse than a hostel. Very dark and unwelcoming. We had a disabled room which meant we had a large bathroom however other guests showed us their rooms and the bathrooms were hideous. A coffin shaped bath tub that was partly underneath the extended vanity top, an odd shaped shower that was difficult to use and a room for the toilet that was smaller than an old fashioned telephone kiosk. (One of our group was too large to fit in the room and couldn't use the toilet in his room) We believe this batch of rooms are being refurbished. If that is the case they need a little more thought into the design and layout of the rooms rather than just a lick of paint, new mattresses and carpets. (Which were quite disgusting really and looked like they had seen better days and never been cleaned). The only wine available in the bar was Chardonnay, so if you don't like that then I guess it's hard luck! Breakfast was below average really. We all had to squash into half of the restaurant as the other half was already laid up for lunch. Maybe the staff just couldn't be bothered to walk the extra distance to clear the tables. The only tea available was fruit tea or Earl Gray which personally I find revolting. Thankfully we didn't have dinner here. We have stayed in many Leonardo hotels all over Belgium and this is definitely the worst.
