We made a last minute decision to stay the night in Waco instead of driving back to Houston, and this was literally the only hotel available for the night. It's fine for what we needed it to be -- we didn't spend any extra time in the room, just slept and showered. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. My only *real* complaint is that I was woken up a couple of times in the middle of the night when a car was pulling into the parking lot, because their lights shown in our room. Would I stay here again? Probably if it was again the last room available in Waco, but it wouldn't be my first, second, or third choice.
We've never stayed in a Knights Inn before, always assumed they would be unacceptable and avoided them. But was forced to due to an event having everything booked unless we were willing to pay extortionist rates. It was surprisingly clean and well maintained. Though it was slightly dated, it seemed recently refurbished. And of the 4 other hotels we stayed on our trip, all mid-to-up scale, it was the only one with a large, new HD TV with actual HD service. Most hotels don't do that. The rooms are exterior access, and not large. A bit sparse but adequate. No radio-clock. The owner/manager was very friendly, helpful, and very accommodating of a special request we had. The WIFI was a little slow but usable. Unfortunately, there was one downside. The mattress was the hardest we've ever slept on, by far. We're seniors, have traveled all over this great land and foreign... it doesn't get harder than this, folks. Believe me. Except for that, we would have considered the room rate outstanding.
We came to Texas to visit the Silos at Magnolia. This hotel was very affordable and clean, most important was the cleanliness. We had a mini fridge and microwave. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. It was easy to get to and the bed comfortable.
First let me say that a group of 10 of us were in Waco on Business and someone else was in charge of the plans for boarding. We stayed 16 days. They gave us a $45.00 a jght price on the phone. When we checked out it seems they tried to change things up on the bill for the stay on the first weekend since It was Homecoming for Baylor. Several times early in the morning first on my only day off Sunday I had the do not disturb sign on my door. Most our team had left to eat breakfast or had left to go enjoy the day so I guess she didnt think I was in my room but "Ruby" the manager walks right in as Im in bed sleeping. When I shockingly asked how can I help her?? She quickly closed the door. I jumped up and went to the office wanting to know if they often came into rooms clearly marked DO Not come in!! She told me she needed to talk to another co worker. Never answering me why she was in my room. Then one morning at 8:00 my wife and I jumped in the car to get coffee as the so called breakfast and coffee isnt advised. I forgot my wallet so we flipped around back to the room to find Ruby entering our room with the same DO NOT DISTURB SIGN IN THE KEY SLOT. SHE JUMPED OUT OF HER SKIN. CAUGHT AGAIN!!! I explained to her that we have sensitive accounting info and credit info on our customers in our room and I needed an answr as why it is the minute we leave she seems to want to come in our room. She denied it even as we watvhed her quickly put her master key in her pocket and drop our do not disturb sign on the ground. Even though the info was in a locked box it makes me wonder why she found it nessesary to run to my room the minute I pulled out and how often it was happening and I didnt catch her. The rooms are out dated. Promised fridge and microwaves as well as a king bed but didnt get any of those. The plumbing in the morning is horrible. The bathrooms have a horrible odor that doesnt go away. Its like a septic tank that has never been cleaned out. I will be responsible for waco trips and will never come back simply because of the odd behavior of the Manager. I cant get past it and hope that all my belongings are accounted for. Someone needs to teach her what privacy means and possibly update to a younger smarter manager that understands how badly that reflects on this owner and this hotel. HUGE NO NO. WE HAVE AN ACCOUNT AND YOU JUST LOST OUT ON SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH OF SOLID BUSINESS AS WE JUST SIGNED A TWO YEAR CONTRACT TO WORK 16 DAYS A MONTH IN YOUR TOWN. ILL SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY FOR PRIVACY AND RESPECT.
The reviews I read were pretty good, so my expectations were a little higher than they should have been. I would term this a real mediocre stay. Clean enough, safe enough, maintained enough to get by. Doubt that I stay here again just because I do like a little more updated accomodations, but it wasn't horrible like one review I just saw.
The only negative about our stay was that there was a $10 pet fee posted on a big sign on the check-in desk. However, nothing about this fee was mentioned on the website. I told the receptionist this and she was adamant that it was very clearly shown on the website. I looked again and saw nothing. She was pretty rude about it, stating that if I didn't want to pay it, then go somewhere else. It wouldn't have been a problem for me if she had just been nice about it. Everything else about the hotel was fine.
Reserved and paid for a king and received a double with no apology, no discount, but there looks to be mold in the shower, the TV took several minutes to come on and they didn't care!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS…sleep in your car, get arrested but don't stay here!
I sent the following to the Hotel Manager------ Have to advise you of a terrible stay at your hotel at 3829 Franklin Ave, Waco TX. We were in Room 118 and checked in at 3:00 March 1. After retiring early we were awakened at 11 pm by the occupants above us ,- bumping, creaking floor, dropping items , from that time until 3:30 am. The level of the noise was unbearable and made it impossible to sleep. We did phone the front desk but to knowledge nothing was done .
There was a football game in town and the more commonly know hotels were not available. I booked here for a very good price sight unseen and did not expect much. Truth is the room exceed my expectations. Thank you and I will stay here again!
Room 118. Outdoor access to rooms. Convenient location to I-35. Nice area. Unique U-shaped parking area. Rooms are small, but everything you need is there. Fridge, microwave, iron, hairdryer, coffee maker, desk,, chair, TV (not a flatscreen though),free WiFi etc. We did not eat breakfast there... Would definitely stay here again.
