My daughter-in-law booked her mother and I into the Spa for a few days refreshing. The variety of swimming facilities was fantastic, I lovely the pool with its water massages, that really worked wonders for my tired muscles. The Jacuzzi was relaxing, although I was not brave enough to face the ice cold pool! We enjoyed the regular sauna and tried out the steam sauna. The smoke sauna was a first for me and I enjoyed it. The food in the restaurant was well prepared with mostly traditional food. The rooms were comfortable and we felt well rested when we booked out. I will say that if you are not happy to partake in the Finnish traditional experience of communal sauna you may not enjoy this place.
Very tired after a few days of hunting and fishing i arrived to this hotel for a good rest before leaving town. Arrived 20.50 in evening and hoped for some room service and a nice minibar. None of them they had and kitchen closing in 10 min so a quick run to order at least a pizza! bought som soft drinks in the bar to get to the room to enjoy after a varm bath, but no bath tub either. (a friend booked this hotel and not me by the way) They had a shower with shower curtain that kept sticking to the body when showering. Quite irritating.. The floor got all wet and the body soap was quite awful as well. On top of this there was a company party downstairs in the pub playing heavy disco music to 02.00 AM making it impossible to sleep and no one informed on this when booking! Although the rest was OK it was not more than OK. I think it needs a manager that wakes up and start acting..
The hotel is located a half an hour from Kuopio and 20 minutes from the airport just besides the lake. Unfortunately the hotel is very in outdated. The interior is old and needs to be renovated. I have never ever seen a breakfast served like they do. It looks like they just took the ham and cheese directly from the package and turn it upside down, sticked to each other. Almost like a school lunch... The spa is okay, a rehabilitation center.
The room was clean and very comfortable. The shower room was large although only soap is provided and no other toiletries. There wasn't a great view from the room but there are good paths down to the lake and an outside exercise area. We didn't use the sauna or pool so can't comment on these. The breakfast had a good variety of food and the evening meals are very good. Wifi is good in the rooms and there is a laptop and printer available on the first floor for the use of guests. The only detail missing is a kettle in the room, otherwise this is a great hotel.
The rooms here are nice, eacg with their own small balcony and the view of and accessibility to the lake is great. The staff at reception were very polite and ready with recommendations on places to visit in the nearby Kuopio. There was also ample parking near the hotel. There were two things we found disappointing, though. One is that there was no kettle in the room; hot water is available at the restaurant, which was slightly inconvenient. Second is that the breakfast, although hygienic and with a good variety, was disappointing in terms of taste and quality. Overall, this hotel is what its name means, a decent place. We recommend staying on a higher floor for a better view of the lake (also, note that one side of rooms does not face the lake).
Service on the reception was very friendly. The hotel is not new anymore, but that is well noticed with price level. I really enjoyed the breakfast, but I hope more gluten-free options. Our pets got nice treatment and little gift. Service in the hotel's own restaurant was excellent and really personal! Hotel Café had nice gluten-free cake and several other gluten-free options!
I was surprised by the large amount of sports and recreation facilities. The inside large sized hotel offered a gym, a basketball field, an indoor swimming pool and - of course Saunas. Outside, for the installation near the hotel like mini golf, frisbee golf and Nordick walking trails along the lake helped to chill down from a long day at work. The smoke sauna on the seashore was second to none. The friendliness and the helpfulness of the personnel in the hotel did set standards..
Old fashioned hotel in a very beautiful location. Organised a strategy meeting with a 20 person group. All arrangements were smooth and really didn't have anything to complain. Pricing is relatively cheap but it is in line with the old fashioned interior of the place. Food was well prepared traditional Finnish cuisine.
The smoke-sauna and the lake was absolutely the best I can imagine. Overall the place was very tidy and clean, well taken care of. Not new but comfortable. There is many activities to go for and the good gym to exercise. The hotel has a weekly schelude where you can find different activities either free of charge or with a payment.
Stayed here once for business trip, and it was packed with elderly people having a spa weekend. Many of the Finnish spa's have already past their best before dates and have difficulty trying to keep up with the game. Location nice by the lake, there is a gym and pools, and there was a dj and some dancing during the late hours but nobody below 50 would come here volunteringly.
