Very good hotel and rooms very pleasant. Watch out for the Jacuzzi showers, they were fun and tricky. Staff excellent. Wifi excellent. A 500 metre stroll to Piazza Bra and the Arena was fine, as was the 450 metre walk to the station where we got the airport bus.
My husband and I made a quick 1 day/1 night stop in Verona in May 2017. We chose this hotel for its good ratings, reasonable price and close proximity to the train station, which is a 10 minute walk. The hotel was easy to find and staff were excellent. We arrived at 10am and the hotel was able to store our bags no problem - they even brought them up to our room so that we didn't have to lug them ourselves later that day. The room was very comfortable, great bed, great shower, and a cute little balcony out onto the main street. Wifi and AC worked great. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the heart of Verona where all the action is - would definitely stay again!
Picked this hotel because of the strong reviews, really good prices and its location close to the train station (for ease of access to the airport bus and the train to Venice). Its about ten minutes from the station and another ten minutes to the nearest city gate. I was not disappointed, room was large and spotlessly clean, bed was incredibly comfortable. We had a room at the back of the hotel so no real views but it was very quiet. The bathroom was also large and the jacuzzi shower took a little bit of working out but it had plenty of water pressure! The free wi-fi worked well. There were a couple of cons about the room that stop me giving a full five star review, the A/C wasnt able to cool the room at all (it seemed like the 'cool' setting wasnt available) and there were only a couple of English language stations (showing international news). Only minor issues but I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone to use as a base to explore the city.
Spent four days at this hotel - the rooms were of a decent size, and neatly decorated as was the bathroom. The personnel were so helpful and nice and the breakfast was lovely too - quite a spread. A very nice stay ! However - a friend was in room 261 - just behind the lift shaft - rooms 161 to 561 are to be avoided - a bit of a noise early in the morning... but nothing too drastic...ok w/ear-plugs
LOCATION I prefer to stay in historical city-centre hotels when I travel in Europe, but in Verona they were either too expensive or the rooms were too small. I chose Best Western Firenze as an acceptable compromise - it was, after all, just a few minutes walk to the old city gate/the Verona arena, with convenient bus connections to pretty much everywhere in Verona, from Piazza Renato Simoni about 500 m away. HOTEL & ROOM I'm happy to say, it was not a compromise in any other way. BWF is a compact, modern, well-maintained hotel. We had room #555, facing Corsa Porta Nuova. The excellent insulation ensured we had total quiet in the room whenever the window was shut tight. While the room was not spacious, it seemed adequate - even with two large, 25-kg capacity suitcases hogging space. We found the bed and pillows comfortable, the quality of toiletries quite satisfactory and housekeeping up to expectations. The only issue was that the shower was in the tub (it was a jacuzzi tub), with a delicate glass door in the middle. This made the shower area really cramped, and one had to be careful that one's elbows didn't hit the swinging glass separator. SERVICE AND COURTESY The various individuals manning the reception at different times of the day were all friendly and helpful; they took pains to find convenient bus stops and bus numbers for us, and one of them (was it Cristina?) insisted politely that we should not miss the church of San Zeno. We went there, thanks to her. It also helped that the bar/snack bar downstairs had a smiling man in charge (his name was Dinesh, I think). WI-FI Not the best, plus the added annoyance of having to log on every time. But this was a minor inconvenience. VALUE We spent 21 nights altogether in Oia (Santorini), Rome, Florence, the Tuscan countryside, Verona and Lucerne. Best Western Firenze, at Euro 434 for 3 nights including all taxes and breakfast, provided the best value overall. Some of our other rooms may have been bigger, or the hotels themselves a little grander, but when I put everything together and shake it up - BWF rises to the top. Europe needs more hotels like it :-)
I must admit I feel like the reviews from this place really let me down. This place had many positive reviews and I just didn't see it. The hotel is well located and clean, but the room was just terribly uncomfortable. The bed and pillows were rock hard. We spent 3 weeks traveling around Europe and this was by far the most uncomfortable bed. I understand mattress firmness is a personal preference but the hard and flat pillows were awful. After a hot day in Verona the room was very stuffy with inadequate AC, thankfully it cooled off at night so if you kept the window open it was tolerable. The shower was a bizarre "jacuzzi" shower with a bunch of jets enclosed in a narrow tube. (It must have been all the rage in the 80's) The location was great, 10 min walk to train station and 10 min to the city gate. The front desk staff were friendly on check on/out and there is a nice bar in the lobby. Overall the negatives far outweigh the positives in my opinion, would not recommend.
Our stay in Verona was enhanced due to the wonderful hotel accommodations. The room was appointed beautifully. We felt as if we were in someones guest room rather than a stuffy hotel. The A/C unit was easy to control and program. The furniture had classic details and each room has a fridge and coffee maker. The bathroom was delightfully cheerful with a Jacuzzi tub and a body jet shower. There was also a vent in the bathroom which you usually do not find in a hotel. The bed provided a wonderful nights sleep. A neat item they had in the room was a small gold box on either side of the bed that had 5 buttons. One turned on/off the overhead lights, one turned on/off the bedside light, another was an on/off switch to set up a do not disturb signal to the housekeeping staff (no more paper hangers to fall off your door knob) and the other two were to control the black out automatic shade on the exterior of the window. The TV was a very large size for the room and the room was very quiet. Breakfast was delicious with a large variety of hot and cold items to choose from. There was also free wifi. This was our only complaint in that you had to keep logging in whenever you wanted to use it, even it you hadn't left the room. Verona is a beautiful city and this hotel is conveniently located to take advantage of it.
An easy walk from the station, the airport bus which is great and runs every 20 mins drops you at the station. The hotel is 10 mins walk away. It is also 10 mins away from the old town so perfect location. The hotel was clean and the bed was large and comfortable, but the decor was very old fashioned and the bathroom needed updating with a tiny shower with folding door. So if you want a value hotel in a good spot, nothing wrong with it. But it needs updating.
The Hotel was close to the railway station. When we arrived we asked about excursions etc. They told us nothing but handed over brochures which were not that great. We found the front desk personnel were helpful throughout when you approached them, but not overly friendly otherwise. They were not welcoming or informative about what you could do in the city. The hotel was great in providing WiFi, however there were difficulties in inital login (in which we had to get a different password 3 times). >You had to login in to wifi everytime you left the hotel which was such a pain. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the shower is in the bath. A minor issue was that the water could have been hotter. The cleaning staff were very good. Breakfast was not included but cost 10 Euro each. The Bar staff were friendly. The hotel was concerned enough that they wanted feedback through a hotel survey. I virtually told them the same as this review. I felt when I left this hotel that the front staff couldnt care less. I would probabably stay there again due to its location, but know that it is very business and not personal.
For the price, this is a great hotel to stay in Verona. Around 100 euro, you get a decent size room and good water pressure and TV has many channels (90% in Italian). There is a mini bar but you can take all out to use it to store something during your stay. Just 5 min walk from the bus/train station where you can get airport bus for only 6 euro. Also a few blocks away from the Piazza, center of Verona. Breakfast is really good. Most items are BIO. croissants are excellent, and plenty of bread and fruits, cheese, etc. Eggs are either boil-yourself or scrambled. Espresso machine works well (similar to one you see at Lufthansa lounges). Wifi isn't working very well though.. Overall, it was a great stay here.
