The staff here are always very helpful and we have visited a number of times, but not for a few years. However, we did think that the room we had was far less impressive than previous rooms. It was at the back of the hotel, smelt damp and had damp patches on the ceiling. There were no easy chairs or tea and coffee making facilities. When we booked I was told that the room we had requested was booked, but it remained empty all week. The breakfast was good, served with grace and every attention to detail, but again the variety of fruit and cereal on offer was poor, there was no variety each day. The fixtures and fittings are grand Venetian which makes the hotel look very elegant. I would recommend that you book an apartment or a room at the front of the hotel. It is a shame that we were a little disappointed, but the hotel is still worth a visit. There are several general stores nearby that sell food to prepare yourself if you have an apartment.
A faultless stay in a wonderful hotel , the room was elegantly decorated in true Venetian style as is the rest of the hotel with painted ceilings and antique furniture . A lovely location away from the bustle with an abundance of restaurants right on the doorstep . Easy to find and easy walking distance to the lagoon front . This is a simple hotel and is not staffed 24 hrs so has the feel of a apartment , breakfast is a adequate and a simple affair but a good and welcoming start to the day. Rooms are serviced everyday and always clean, Staff are welcoming and friendly. If you are a independent traveler and not seeking all the services and fussing that goes with some hotels then this hotel will not disappoint. Lots of history goes with this building as it was once the knights templar Venetian base .
More like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Rooms very small and smelling a bit musty. Very poor breakfast service as it appears that the waitress doubles up as room maid and she has a tendency to disappear just when you want tea or coffee or other breakfast items. Also once you have checked out they will not allow you to use the toilet facilities. Very disappointed with hotel and will never stay here again. Venice though was as lovely as ever.
Beautiful place to stay! Clean and comfortable, with great location and view. Large and homey rooms traditionally decorated, with nicely equipped kitchen. Staff was very friendly. Some small complaints are that the wifi can be awfully slow sometimes, and that the water in the shower can become lukewarm pretty quickly. But those are really small nitpicks, and I really can't recommend this place enough
A nice apartment in quiet location. Small but functional kitchen and a washing machine made it homely. We liked cooking meals as a break from eating out. No early check in/out, but our bags were safe. As non smokers, we felt the staff smoking in the office was a bit unpleasant. But they were friendly and kind, which we liked. Walking distance ro sites and restaurants. Had to catch a water taxi there for 75euros.. expensive but too far from the station with suitcases. Venice is wonderful.
Our family of 4 spent 2 nights at Palazzo schiavoni. It is a great location for those keen on walking Venice. We found it easily by following Google maps. A supermarket is nearby. The rooms had everything we needed. We would recommend these apartments.
While planning a trip to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday I discovered that there is a daunting amount of hotels in Venice to choose from. Our budget didn't stretch to luxury so we were looking for a comfortable base in a quiet area, not too far from the nearest Vaporetto stop from which to explore the city. After much research Palazzo Schiavoni seemed to tick all the boxes and was good value by Venetian standards... in short, we weren't disappointed. The hotel is an attractive building, tucked away overlooking a quiet canal, five minutes walk from San Zaccaria stop and around ten minutes walk to Piazza San Marco. There's no shortage of restaurants close by (we had a nice meal at Trattoria Da Denis), we also discovered a nice little café just around the corner on Salizada Sant'Antonin and there's a small supermarket just along the canal for supplies. On arrival we received a warm welcome and throughout our stay all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I know that is something you expect from a hotel but in Venice we didn't find it everywhere we went! Our room was fairly small but clean, comfortable and furnished in a classical style while the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was very good, not a huge choice but everything was nice, especially the coffee and the service came with a smile. Venice itself is still as breathtaking as you expect it to be, no mean feat when you consider how many thousands of photos we've all seen of it. If you're thinking of going and want a comfortable base from which to explore this wonderful city then I'd recommend the Palazzo Schiavoni.
This is a great place to stay while visiting Venice. Everyone who works there is so accommodating. We arrived early and it wasn't a problem. By the time we were done checking out, our room was ready. The breakfast, especially the coffee, was delicious! The room itself was good. All 3 of us were able to fit with all our luggage. It was tight but we didn't spend a lot of time there.
The hotel is quite an interesting piece of history. Breakfast was good. Staff was helpful. The biggest and main issue is that the reception closes at 8 pm and to enter the hotel and the aisle of the room you need a code. Without the code you cannot enter. E had a late flight and arrived in Venice after 8 pm, so it was a bit of a headache to get the code. You need to call an Italian phone number.
The apartment was clean and beautifully refurbished. Staff were very welcoming helpful and friendly. Only five minute walk with heavy bags from Arsenale stop on the waterbus, 10 minutes walk from San Marco. It is situated next to a canal but is very quiet area away from tourism. Definitely recommended as prices were so reasonable for Venice.
