We chose that hotel due to the beach. turnes out that: -the beach was not what we expected. the closest beach was private (ie private but not Byron's private) and the public one (blue moon) was farther down the road. There you had to pay for just about everything (1 Euro for a short public shower of 1min and 20sec, 1 Euro to use the toilet, 2.5 Euros to get a towel with a 10Euro depot and as I showed up at the counter with my husband the lady did not allow us to use just one deckchair-we had to rent 2.) turned out that our 2 hour beach time was a lot more expensive than we had anticipated. At least the water was really warm and the sandy beach really nice. -you are not allowed to use the towels of the hotel for the beach -the AC in the room was one of those big machines on the floor with a tube leading from the machine to the open window. That thing was so noisy. -the main problem however was the smell. There was a disgusting drain smell in the room for most of the day. Luckily it stopped at night. -as most other people mentioned, this hotel needs renovation. Mold in the bathroom, dark and musty. on the bright side the B'fast was alot better than expected. Standard Italian B'fast but the room was light and friendly. -staff also friendly and helpful.
65 euros bed and breakfast for a single traveller in a twin room (beds made up as a double) and nice bathroom with good shower. Hotel had a real charm about it, especially the dining room with the vast Venetian chandeliers. My room had a balcony facing the evening sun which was lovely to sit out on. Despite other visitors comments to the contrary, my room had very good air conditioning which was great for sleeping thro such warm nights. Breakfast on the large patio in the morning was a delight, although only basic continental offerings - fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, sliced meats, cheese etc., Easy walk to main street and water boat terminal (food at the Gran Viare restaurant on the right as you walk down from terminal was excellent, particularly the seafood risotto) and just 10 mins ride to St Marcs Square. Will stay here again when I come back to Venice! Tip - try an easy day out to Verona on the train as it is cheap and easy to do!
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is situation 10 min from the ferry station in Lido. The staff were friendly and helpful The bed was really really soft thus uncomfortable (not recommended for a couple vacation :)) the breakfast was really poor, no egg, dry bread and very boring all in all. It is a very old hotel with no good AC , there was a fan available in the room. I ll unfortunately not book this hotel again
Spent 3 nights in this hotel, it appeared run down and in need of updating and redecoration. The main entrance has been repositioned around the other side. I had a spacious room but this appeared to have a dirty feeling with artificial dated furniture. There was no air-conditioning, and the weather was hot so difficult to sleep. An easy walk to the beach, and main street. Breakfast was fairly good in a nice dining room, or in the garden. Staff were pleasant and efficient.
We stayed here for two nights after a cruise. The hotel is in a good location near the beach and a short walk to the main street and waterbus station. When we got there we got a taxi form the waterbus which was over 16 euros but we could have easily walked if we knew where it was. The hotel itself is a bit tired with a really uncomfortable bed and no aircon. Breakfast was basic, croissants etc. Wouldnt stay here again
the hotel is located in Lido, around 15 minutes by boat from St Marco Square, the area around is quiet, but it only takes 5 minutes to reach restaurants and shops and 10 minutes on foot to the water tram terminal, rooms are big enough, breakfast is good and delicious
Very nice hotel! The location is great - close to the main street and the beaches, in the quiet neighborhood. The building itself is a special one, kept clean and renovated, breakfast is served in the garden (in the inner room as well). The staff is very friendly and helpful!
hotel location very good close the beach close for everything hotel was very quiet very clean the old building has a character,staff very nice always a help full breakfast fear rooms are clean and many of them sea view .you can hire a bike very cheep also.
The Byron Hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, easy to find from the sea us station... Maybe a 15 minute walk. The lobby & outdoor garden areas are beautiful. Our room was ok, however the bathroom had a foul door & our toilet did not work properly. They immediately moved us to a new room! The breakfast is good and the room is large & airy. I would recommend.
I have been to Venice 5 times and always stayed at different hotels,this hotel is by far my favourite and I will be back next year,it is in a very quite location on the island of Lido and is only 5 minutes walk from the lovely beach facing the Adriatic sea and only 15 minutes walk from the vaperetto stop from where you can get a boat to anywhere in Venice or to the other islands in the lagoon,you can also get a boat direct to and from Marco polo airport,the hotel has very friendly staff and a great choice of food and beverages available at the buffet breakfast,the rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
