Avoid this place like the plague. By far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Customer service is nonexistent, while every day the staff stand around chatting for hours behind the reception desk. Here is one of many examples, it too almost 2 days and asking 4 times just to get a toilet tissue roll, which the housekeeping staff had forgotten to leave in our bathroom. One morning my friend nearly feel down the stairs because one of the steps is missing a chunk of stone, which is hidden under carpet. When she confronted the front desk about it, she was calmly told to walk on the other side of the stairs. When this member of staff was asked why it was not repaired, the reply was "it cannot be repaired", and to the question "then why is there no sign warning guests" the reply was "we cannot without the permission of the owner". I ordered a Mohito from the bar one day only to discover that it contained no mint. Mint is one of the main ingredients of this drink which is made up of of crushed lime, sugar, bacardi rum and mint, without the mint it is not a mohito, when I complained the female so called bartender tells me she usually makes it with mint but that she had none, so she made it with what she had and she thought it was fine. I could go on and on, but i think you get the general idea. There is one more which is by far the worst thing I experienced happened at 1.00am, we had just returned after an evening out, and sat in the smoking area for awhile before going to bed, we were met by a very distressed female guest who was experiencing some severe pain, and was a little panicky. Before our arrival she had asked the guy on night duty at the front desk for help, his reply was "go to the hospital". there was no "I will call you a doctor" or even "I will call you a water taxi" to get to the hospital. he never even moved from his chair behind the desk,(we helped her and thankfully all was well). I would dearly like to know how this hotel got it's 4 star rating, because there is no way in hell they deserve more than 2 stars. the only good thing about this place is it's location, which is just around the corner from san marco square, but then again so at least another dozen or more small hotels, do yourself a favour and book one of them. You might ask how we booked this hotel in the first place, it was a last minute thing. I made a mess with booking of my hotel of choice. and was left having to find a hotel room near san marco square just days before we were flying in the middle of June. Believe me if All'Angelo was the last hotel in Venice I would never stay there again.

Very close to some key sights. Accommodation of a reasonable level. Good breakfast with hot and cold and staff very helpful. We loved the free buffet in the bar from 6 to 7pm to allow a time to enjoy a drink and watch the gondoliers

Good location. Less than 5 minutes walk from St Marco. Room is old but clean. What make things unpleasant is we had a very bad experience with one of the night shift receptionist on Friday night, 16th June 2017. We decided to buy some wine from the bar and chill at the lobby's smoking area because we are not allowed to smoke in our room. Before the bar is closed around midnight we asked the waitress if we could order another bottle and stay at the smoking area and she said not a problem. The smoking area is open 24/7 and we can take our sweet time to finish our drinks. Slightly after midnight, the sliding door (which is not automatic) opened by the receptionist from his desk and he started shouting from his desk which is about 40m away. We didn't really know what he was shouting about. Within less than 2 mins, he opened the sliding door again and shouted that he will switch off the smoking area's light in 5 mins. Before we even realise it was 5 mins later, he switched off the smoking area's light. We didn't mind drinking in the dark because there were lights by the river and we just wanted to finish our drinks. We were very unhappy with his approach and confronted him that he should not shout from desk and could have just walk over to us and explain that we could not stay till so late. WE later figured out that he wanted clean the smoking area and could not wait any longer. HE shouted again that we were taking too long to finish a bottle of wine (in actual fact, we had two), and he has to clean the table soon. We do not understand why he needs to clean now since no one is rushing him but he rushed us. We were not making noise, simply sitting there enjoying our last night at Venice by the river and smoke but was given a very unpleasant experience by this receptionist. To make things worse, after we left the smoking area, we noticed that he switched on the lights at the smoking area again. We know this because we went out for a walk and came back around 30 minutes later. So in other words, the smoking area is not closed. He just wanted clean at his convenience and was extremely rude to us. There are many hotels within walking distance around this area. Travellers will have many choices at the same price and location. We do not deserve such service. We will never return to this hotel again.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in late May 2017. Reception staff were friendly and helpful unlike room cleaning staff who made no effort to speak to us. We booked a canal view room which was the highlight of our stay. The room was average size. We were invaded with mosquitoes the first night because we didn't think to close the canal view window. There were approx. 7 pedestal fans stored in the passage way, for whatever reason, during our stay. One morning, we sighted bundles of laundry stacked in the stairwell [ fire escape] presumably awaiting pick up for cleaning. The entire stairwell was blocked with laundry.!! Buffet Breakfast was plentiful although it would have been practical to have tea/coffee served at table to minimise congestion around coffee/tea machine. The complementary water taxi trip to Murano was a bonus. The Hotel café at street level was ideal for a quiet meal/ drink. Location to St Mark's Square and shops and more shops is ideal. The Hotel arranged for water taxi pickup [at side door to Hotel] to Airport. Cost is 125 Euros which is paid in CASH to Hotel. If you take the trip to Murano and the water taxi to the Airport, you'll see plenty of canals and buildings, so you may want to pass on a gondolier ride. !

Was very handy to St Marks square. I had printed off reasonably extensive map before we left home, so was able to find hotel fairly quickly, but down small narrow street with only small sign hanging over door. Staff were very friendly and helpful. - we were offered a free transfer to Murano Island and back which was great. Breakfasts good, bedroom not that big, but bed was comfortable. Had view over fairly busy street, but wasn't noisy at all.

Complicate to find. Only little tag next to a doorbell you ring to get let in. We had a lovely room with a tiny balcony and canal view and comfortable bad. The bathroom had obviously been renovated and was lovely. Romantic, nostalgic - like a poem.

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. We had a lovely view along a canal from the window. It's not the fanciest place but the location is brilliant - literally 1 minute walk from San Marco and very handy for the ferry to the airport

Was a charming old hotel on the canal, my room was small but clean with fresh white sheets in the bed every day! My view from my room was a wall so nothing to say about the view apart from a couple of pigeons that were roosting on a window ledge. The staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was ok not wonderful but all fresh so really cant complain. I did like it and the location was superb just around the corner from the doge palace and st marks square

This hotel was well placed for popping out and exploring St Mark's and local environs. We could get the atmosphere along with hundreds of other tourists ,enjoy the delicious local food, sit and people watch and shop for a lovely leather bargain. The hotel is a bit eccentric or slightly jaded but it is in a two hundred year old building for goodness sake! It was a treat to be in the middle of all the goings on and then be able to retreat to our room. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were great and it was very convenient to be picked up at the back door by water taxi for an exhilarating ride to the airport. If you come by water bus and have big suitcases invest in the porters available there. It was a huge savings on the stress of getting through the crowds and actually finding your way around.

Was a nice hotel set in an old building but most of Venice is historic so me and my girlfriend didn't mind. The staff was nice friendly and helpful. There was building works being done near our room but with these old buildings they will need constant work so it's to be expected. Generally it was a good stay here and if you like a cigarette you can come down to reception and turn left to smoke outside next to the canal to watch the gondolas go past there's seats and a door that closes if people don't like the smoke.
