Great location, close to the train station, and an easy connection via water from the airport. Not too complicated for First time visitors, as you can walk from the airport public water taxi (alilaguna) stop to the hotel (orange line / stop 2). Great for exploring Venice on foot or via vaporetto)! Strong internet connection for work.

We were very excited to get a ground level room facing the Grand Canal. What a spectacular view from our window. This was our first trip to Venice and we were struck by the complete dependence on the canals to move both people and product. And we paid a price for that because around 4 or 5 am small delivery boats began pulling up to the dock just below our window and workmen were unloading hotel supplies all morning. I'm not blaming this on the hotel but I'm including it here so that if you are considering a canal view from your room maybe don't get a ground level. The room was equipped with a fridge and was the only room of the three we stayed at in Italy that had one. American's appreciate a cold drink and his was helpful.

We stayed one night at the Continental Hotel in Venice, after 3 nights at another nearby hotel. Great location on the Grand Canal, walking distance to the train station. Arrived around 11AM, expecting to check our bags, however, the room was ready, so that was nice. The clerk said, "nice room, up a few stairs". Unfortunately, the "few stairs" turned out to be 96 steps to the fourth and highest floor, to the most distant room in the hotel. With an elevator that didn't go to that part of the hotel. I explained to the desk clerk that my bad knees made the climb very difficult, to which he responded that the hotel would be full that day with several tour groups and we couldn't get another room. I felt we were penalized for using an internet booking, as the rate was very good and we were provided the least desirable room in the place. For one night we made due, however, it was not a pleasant experience. The dining area is very nice, with tables on the veranda overlooking the Grand Canal. Our breakfast there was very memorable, good food and great ambiance. I feel the hotel is very nice as a converted historic locale, but would warn other travelers of the likelihood of getting a disappointing room if you use any kind of a discount booking vehicle.

We travel Europe for 3 weeks and used a booking company regularly. This hotel started by not having a shower, the room cleaning was bad (did not clean room until we asked the then tried to do it when we were showering), and the breakfast staff were unfriendly (when we asked to eat outside on the patin - one door - they looked at us like we were insane).

Clean, friendly, great location

We loved being able to turn in our car and walk to the hotel and later to the train station. The on and off boats were wonderful and so near the hotel. The flower arrangements in the hotel were fantastic!

Great location. One block from the train station and 100 yards from the water bus stop. The hotel was compfortable and had an elegant feel. Our room was on the Grand Canal and my daughter just loved opening the shutters and looking over the water and watching the traffic go by. The bath was very modern. It and the room were large by European standards. The staff was pleasant and helpful with directions and train times. The breakfast was expansive and served on the canal side of the hotel. Shopping was all around and it was a nice 40 minute walk to San Marco plazza. Everything is within walking distance.

Flight was delayed, never made it to hotel and couldn't cancel it because of their cancellation policy

This hotel is an easy walk from Piazzele Roma. But- the hotel is very noisy with the traffic on the grand canal, door banging all night and people talking loudly at 4 a.m. The staff were not pleasant and seemed to be annoyed if you asked a question. The beds were terrible-bouncy, sagging in the middle & you could feel springs through the mattress. If you want a good night's sleep avoid this hotel.

The Continental Hotel in Venice is centrally located to the train station, cafes, markets, and shops. It was just a short Vaporetto ride to St. Mark's square. I stayed with my 2 sons in the hotel and we had a triple room (3 separate beds) which worked for us. It overlooked a nice courtyard. We had help getting our luggage to our room which made all the difference because of the different corridors and floors. The staff were pleasant especially the breakfast staff who were very attentive. This was a good value for us and we were there on a summer festival night. It was pretty quiet in our room as we were at the end of a corridor. Overall, I would definitely choose this hotel again and would recommend it to others.
