The view was amazing.
It's not 5 star hotel. Should be 3.5 star hotel. Facility is old. Everything is outdated.
Very valuable! Excellent as 5 star hotel and great location
After a two week visit around Switzerland, I have to say that my experience at this hotel was the worst out of any hotel. We decided to try two different hotels in Montreux, one three star hotel in the Old City and the Royal Plaza. The three star hotel provided excellent service and functioning rooms. The Royal Plaza on the other hand was a disaster. Where to begin? When we checked in, we were given keys and a Montreux tourist card, which is a part of the tourist tax paid in this city. Nothing was explained about the tourist card, but luckily our prior hotel in Montreux gave us more than enough information about the city and about the card. We then got to the room. Nothing five-star about this room at all. Our bathroom door wouldn't close all the way apparently did not fit in the door frame correctly. At night, when I called to make a request for a wakeup call, the telephone was dead. I walked down to the lobby and was advised that the phone could not be fixed that night, but they would have someone check it the next morning when we were leaving. So much for service and so much for a wake up call! The next morning, we went to the breakfast area where we were advised breakfast was served. Nothing was mentioned when we checked in for breakfast about an additional charge. When we checked out, we were charged a total of $90.00 for the two breakfasts and local taxes and fees. A complete ripoff! I will never stay here or in any of the hotels in this group. Unfortunately I was in a rush and could not provide all these complaints to a manager at the point of checkout. I subsequently did email the hotel manager, who ended up providing no help at all and asked me to come back again in a few months to experience their "South Beach Style" rooms. No thanks!
