Super 8 Vandalia / Dayton International Airport

2.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

I stayed at the Vandalia Super 8 because it was very convenient to my family during my stay for a funeral. The staff were pleasant enough, but the room wasn't great. Big sticky stain in the center of the carpet, lumpy small pillows, stained shower curtain, ceiling that sagged in a few places, lightbulbs missing in the lamps, hole in the badly painted wall above the bed, bad satellite connection, etc...The longer I stayed, the more I noticed - and I was there for a week. Again, if you just need a place to lay your head and won't be spending much time in the motel, the Super 8 is perfectly fine.

I would not recommend this hotel!!! It's dirty stains everywhere . Bathroom dirty..

Was very dirty! Mold on bathroom ceiling and tub. Pool was freezing cold! ( told us it was heated).

I had an early flight out of Dayton so spent the night at this Super 8. I appreciated the 24-hour check-in and the drive-through check-in option. The room was consistent with other Super 8 locations. The bed was more comfortable than expected. I only slept for 4 hours (not the room's fault) but felt well-rested. The room rate matched the room quality.

I guess one shouldn't expect much from a motel immediately next to a freeway on ramp. It was noisy & the requisite unsavory looking character were both wandering around the parking lot and working behind the check-in desk. We decided to skip breakfast based on the appearance of the night manager & his compadres who were hanging around in the lobby visiting with him but when I checked out in the AM the staff were in uniform and very professional which surprised me. If I had encountered them when I checked in I might have felt better when I was staying there.

Hotel is starting to show its age, needs some updating. Room was clean, check-in/check-out was efficient. Towels pretty thin but adequate. For the price and a short stay it was okay.

Rooms are clean, it has fridge, microwave. I will recommend this hotels to others.

fit the need but work needed. Floors sticky, towels paper thin

This motel meet our travel needs very well. The staff was friendly and polite. Our room was neat with clean linens. Pillows were a little lumpy. TV was wall mounted and was easy to see. Bathroom was clean. Average room conditions for the room rate charged.

The description online and pictures are a bit deceiving to reality. The pool is not heated nor is it indoor. The free breakfast, well it's free ...no complaints. The TV, among most other items are outdated but serve the purpose. The employees were friendly and helpful. The town of Vandalia is quaint and friendly. Overall, this place can't be beat for the price.

Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Very good value.

No microwave. I brought microwave food to eat and to save some money. Although advertised with a microwave, there was none. Front desk not helpful at all. She said there were no spare/extra m/w's in the entire hotel! The room was very small. Fairly clean, but everything showed it's age old. Will not stay there again and won't recommend it either.

Comfortable, affordable, lots of fast food within walking, quick shuttle ride to airport

That's all I was looking for during my drive across the country, and the Vandalia Super 8 delivered. Room was old but clean, and even had a fridge and freezer for my drinks, food, and ice packs. There is a McDonalds right next door, but I opted for the free breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Easy to get to from I70.

The price is right and it is nicely located to the airport. The hotel could definitely use a fresh coat of paint, but for the price...it can't be beat.

Hotel was reasonably inexpensive and close to highway. Nothing fantastic but served its purpose.

It is bare bones basic. WE were only there 5 hours.

A reasonably clean place to sleep in the middle of a 2 day trip. Everything worked. Some repairs were rough looking but nothing was broken.

Check in and out was a breeze. I just needed a place to sleep while visiting some family and it served its purpose just fine. You could tell it was an older hotel with some of the paint chipping off, but it wasn't big chunks missing, just a few spots here and there. The bathroom could've been a little cleaner if you ask me, but I like things to be spotless. Overall it was a decent place to stay if you're looking for just a place to sleep.

Excellent location at a great price! Close proximity to the airport made this hotel an excellent choice, especially for those travelers who catch early flights out of Dayton airport! Oh yes...they also provide a shuttle service to the airport, but please tip the driver! He appreciates it!
