This hotel was just what you would expect from the price! It was not the nicest or updated but it was close to the water and Stanley Park the staff was super friendly and helpful. Free wifi, $25 a day for parking, restaurants and bars within walking distance. The views cannot be beat! Oceans on one side and beaches on the other!

Good location. Comfortable rooms, but bathrooms, kitchen and cabinets haven't been updated in decades. I love Vancouver. I have always thought of it as a cleaner, safer, more cosmopolitan city than Seattle. That being said the homeless situation is getting a lot worse than I remember it being. Some are aggressive about the begging! Seattle has a similar problem, it's a social issue that needs our attention!

This was a last minute booking due to a quick business trip to Vancouver. The hotel is nicely located, downtown, near Stanley Park. The room was "upgraded," and I suspect that this was because of low occupancy. The decor and furnishing were old. Some of the light switches didn't work, so I was stumbling in the dark until I found one that turned on a light. Most disappointing was the $25/per night parking fee. This wasn't disclosed when I made the reservation. This fee is excessive--even for Vancouver. Overall, I'm not especially impressed with Vancouver hotels. Orbitz/Expedia is disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Great hotel to stay at. It was our first time here. They were unable to accommodate the exact room we wanted therefore they upgraded us at no charge. The parking is cheap, the staff is great, room is clean and it's close to everything. Highly recommend!

loved the room, was a suite with incredible view of stanley park, water lions gate bridge great restaurant and bar

it fit the bill. Had a nice full kitchen that we did not take advantage of

Booked this hotel for one night before a cruise to Alaska. Hotel was very nice close to the beach and very nice restaurants. We had a nice time strolling the beach. The staff was extremely helpful in retrieving our luggage that the airline lost. A nice restaurant in the hotel for breakfast.

Nice place with great views on the water side (cant speak to the other one). Convienient for fireworks in the summertime and close to little shops and a few restaurants. Walking distance from English Bay and Stanley park.

Room was nice but there was no air conditioning in the bedroom. There was an air conditioner in the main room but no way to vent it. It reminded us of an old apartment building that was refurbished! Staff was wonderful & very helpful. Concierge staff gave us 10% coupons to the Aquarium.

Check in was great, staff were friendly, room was a nice size, kitchenette space is good. Great water pressure, nice toiletries. I loved everything about this place but the wifi sucked. I mean really sucked. I could not open more than two tabs and then pages took minutes to load. I ended up spending a lot of time and money in coffee shops because I could not work in my room. For a venue that does conferences, that is not good enough. And then there was the fire alarm. There was a fire alarm at 2 am in the morning. Some people made it out of the building. But I am sure for a 32 story building there was more than 100 people in the building. There was no announcements from the staff. There was no roll call to see if everyone was ok. Lots of people were just milling around with no direction. We got told we could go back in by the fire department. The night manager was asking the receptionist what to do. A mother asked the receptionist to reassure her son's that all was well and there was not a fire. Which the receptionist did in a really good way. The way this fire alarm was handled was a disgrace and a danger for people staying there.

Fantastic location. close to Stanley Park. Great views. Good restaurants close. Grocery store close. Internet exceedingly weak - often non-existent.

Close to everything: restaurants 200 meters, beach three blocks, Stanley Park 10 min ride, wedding two blocks

The view from the hotel is very nice. I took some pictures of the city lights with the mountains in the background from the balcony. The location is a short walk from the best park in Vancouver. We walked there, but I wish that we had time to rent a bike as the park is large. There is an attached mini-mall which exits on a street with shops and restaurants. We needed to convert USA dollars to Canadian. The front desk would exchange 100 dollars a day.

Nicely located this hotel provides a great view of downtown. Try to get on the 32-34th floor. Decent pool, very responsive staff and very easy parking.

Our experience terrific. I arrived late Wednesday evening and the front desk attendant was very professional and friendly. The check in process was quick and easy. We paid for the comfort room and the online price discounts made the hotel price a steal. We appreciated the hotel just putting a $100 hold on our credit card. Some hotels would still place a $300-$500 hold for prepaid orders. We thought the comfort room would be small but it was quite spacious for my girlfriend and I. The room was very clean and I liked the decor. When I read previous reviews people talked about the hotel decor as outdated. I would have to respectfully disagree. I thought the hotel decor was up to par. The best part about my experience was the great location. I felt safe and the vibrant West End of Vancouver offers great restaurants, proximity to the shopping district of Robson Street, English Bay and Stanley Park. The hotel felt like it was part of the community and not a cookie cutter chain hotel. I do have to advise if you drive a car there is a $25 a day charge to use the hotel parking garage and there is a one way street you have to use to get to the hotel directly that is not off the main road (Denman Street). At first it was a little confusing but we found the neighborhood road that would lead us to the hotel on Comox Street. Another cool feature of the hotel was access to Denman Fitness Center which is connected to the hotel. You just show your room key and sign name to sheet and you have full access to the gym. The free weights are on the lower level while the treadmills are upstairs. The gym has modern weight equipment and space to perform floor exercises. The gym staff was nice and the folks working out were courteous. The only negative thing I could possibly say about our experience was the AC unit being loud and portable. I expected central air capabilities but I imagine how the building is a bit older renovating to have central air may be a major project. The weather was very nice temperature wise but the room did get stuffy a little..... This was a great selection for our 4 night stay in Vancouver. The staff was very professional, the location was great, the rooms were clean and big enough for us.The hotel met our budget and succeeded in providing great customer service for first time visitors. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay and felt like were living in a nice apartment in a great city. When we come back we will stay here again. Next time we will upgrade to a suite to get a great view of the city and beaches on the balcony!

The location of the Coast Hotel on Vancouver's West End is great. Lots of great dining within walking distance with English Bay and Coal Harbor on either side of the hotel. It is a good thing that Vancouver has a lot of reasons to be out of your hotel room, since the rooms at this hotel are extremely dated...very likely not updated since 1970 and it looks it. Extremely disappointing.

The hotel is extremely outdated and needs some serious upgrades. It was very clean though and the people were very nice. The ocean view from our hotel room was quite spectacular.

Requested double handicap room. Upon check in advised they had no room of that type....ever.Though showed and booked on line. Need shower with grab bars.......Room circa 1974 with no update other than paint n carpet. Dust and debris in "vent"....Portable ac with no hose connected.....accused us of removing hose.....nice location....No if a true hotelier were to remodel would be worth rates charged

I would like to mention about one outstanding staff. His name is Derin Tao. He arranged a car rental for us. We could not stay hotel until the transaction was over. He provided his cell number to let us konw about availability. When I called him , he continued to help us to get a rental car. I found that he already left the work It meant he was nice to complete the service with his good heart. I felt life can more beautiful if we have person like him.

We enjoyed our stay in Vancouver at the Coast Plaza Hotel by Stanley Park. The location was easy to get to and the staff was very helpful with directions and recommendations to various attractions
