We went to Valencia to meet our son studying in Escuela Politecnica. The hotel is well trained and italian speaking. You have to do a short way to reach the Puerta de Serranos and Virgen Square. The hotel is equipped with bikes with is link with Bed & Bike (good bikes low cost). We love the modern architecture in an ancient palace. Breakfast OK in a wide area, bedroom very quite. We appreciated this location in barrio del Carmen.

When we booked this place the reviews on TA weren't brilliant to say the least. However, we were in Valencia for one night and wanted something cheap and in the right location and this fitted the bill pretty well. Considering it had a roof top terrace and bar with a Jacuzzi we thought it can't be too bad. And indeed it was pretty good in the end. In fact very good, clean, friendly and well run with spacious rooms and a sun covered roof top. I would have given this hotel five out of five but for the seemingly conflict with the roof top bar area. We were told we would be fine with our own drinks as we were staying at the hotel but this didn't go down too well with the people running the bar area. In fact is all got a little awkward which wasn't ideal. Still we weren't there all night so we didn't let any misunderstandings or misgivings spoil matters. They do need to sort that out though and be clear on what guests are told. Returning to the hotel, the rooms were basic, need of a bit of love and care in places, but clean and well presented. Breakfast was limited but sufficient and got us off to a good start in the morning. The reception was easy check in and they looked after our bags on the day we left as we had a later train back to Alicante. The girl on reception was wonderful, but as I said they need to be clear on how the rooftop works in terms of guests at the hotel. All in all a great location and an superb overnight stay in Valencia. Thanks everyone at the Hotel del Carmen.

We wanted to visit another rooftop bar, but sadly that one was closed so we ended up here. The elevator was slightly wonky, but we safely got to the rooftop bar. The view was great, the drinks were good. The service was average at best. Tables weren't very clean and the waitress didn't approach us once, even though we sat there for more than an hour. We left to have dinner elsewhere. In short: not very suitable for dinner but a nice place to have a drink with a view.

We are used to more expensive hotels and this hotel has provides AMAZING service. Meticulously cleaned our room every day, helped us with taxis, pharmacy needs, etc. wonderful staff and amazing location! Would recommend!

Its absolutely not true that is has 3 stars ,even tho in the hotel it says 4 .. we only stayed here one night and will not repeat again, it's too expensive for what they have and give ... the shower was absolutely disgusting , the water didn't flush so the bathroom and bedroom got really wet . and the paint of the window bathroom was falling of in pieces !! Dust and not clean around the room.... not even speaking about the beds becuase they are so hard as rocks , next day had back pains . 58,70€ for one night and not even breakfast included ?? Wow .. will not come back !!!

Do not stay here. Cracked glass shower door. The second night we spent there someone came into the room from 7 pm-10 pm and stole money out of our luggage. We knew someone had come into the room (after had already been cleaned because we were in there prior) because the bed was moved toward the wall, and it was in the center of the room before. Went downstairs to complain and overheard another patron complaining about the same thing.

The Hotel offers a roof top with swimming pool. That was our main reason for booking it. We figured out onsite, that this roof is not run by the owner of the hotel and it is closed (for another 4 days). They mentioned, it might open this weekend, but not for sure. As the room was awe full und the bathroom a mess we searched for another hotel and left right away. Cancel fee 1day price was payed cash on site at the hotel.

I went to valencia for the first time. Stayed in the old town since it was best recommended. This hotel is right near the outsides. The lobby area is small but quaint. Check-in was smooth and my room was beautiful - it has a view of the park and the Valencia surroundings. Quickly found out the air is controlled by the lobby - not the apparatus in your room. Asked to bring it down to as cold as possible - its only 17 degrees celsius. The days were quite hot but at night - during beginning of May it was tolerable. Everything went smoothly until 4 am when the AC turned to heat - woke up sweating and the lobby managed to change it after 20 mins. Same thing happened again at 7am. Was a very long night. The 2nd night I stayed there same thing happened - but instead of turning to heat it turned to only fan and no cool. The hotel is ok if you get it for a good value offer but the AC situation killed my quality of sleep. Besides that it went ok.

Nice three star hotel on the edge of the old town, within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and with views over the Turia park.. We stayed eleven nights over Christmas and New Year. There was nothing fancy about the hotel. The room was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We chose the hotel partly because it was one of the few where breakfast was included in the room rate. Breakfasts were mostly good, with plenty of choice, although there was no hot food one morning and on most days fresh orange juice was replaced by orange squash. There is a roof top terrace with an attached sauna, which could be attractive in summer but we were not tempted as or visit was in winter.

We contacted hotel 6 months in advance to request a travel got for our baby and a room away from noisy street. On arrival we realised both requests had been ignored - we were then told if we wanted a travel cot it would be an additional €25 a night (almost 50% of nightly rate!), when I complained at this, the lady on reception replied : oh, OK - 50% off. I was pretty tired and didn't have energy to argue so reluctantly agreed to pay. About 3hrs later (after reminding them twice) the travel cot was brought to the room. The cot (which I had to assemble myself) smelt like it had been kept in someone's shed for a week and came without any sheets or blankets. Great value. Have since found out that on the Hotel website it states "no additional charge" for children under 3 - so this was obviously a fraudulent charge - which I am currently chasing a refund on Booking.com - outrageous. In summary, don't stay here if you: have a family or value decent customer service. If you have a tight budget and location is main priority (and you're comfortable with paying made-up charges) - it would do the job.
