We recently stayed at the NH Hotel in Puerto de Sagunto after having had a really enjoyable stay there several years ago. This time around did not go the same way from the start. Upon check-in we were (not warmly) greeted by a young man and a young woman. Our eldest son, fluent in Spanish, acted as translator between us and the staff. We had reserved 2 rooms which seemed to create some fluster for the young man who insisted that each of us sign some sort of room registration card even though both rooms were in my husband's name and on his credit card. Our son tried to explain that to the young man who continued to insist that each of us sign the cards individually which we declined to do except for my husband. This seemed to cause irritation to both of the staff. After that, we seemed to receive the 'cold treatment' from these two staff members whenever they were on duty. Further to that, one day my husband and I were in search of a quiet area of the hotel to do a bit of work on our computers and must have wondered into a 'restricted area', an empty conference room on the ground floor. We were quickly met by a Spanish gentleman who did not identify himself but gruffly told us to get out of the area, slamming the door behind us. We tried to explain what we were looking to do and he impatiently told us to go outside or around by the front bar area, which thankfully was quiet at that time of the day. We were not feeling the true hospitality that we are use to when we travel abroad and stay at other hotels. I must say though that this less than receptive behaviour from the hotel staff was partly negated by a most pleasant housekeeping lady who, although not able to speak English, was extremely helpful and patient with me when I tried to ask for things in my somewhat broken and limited Spanish:-) My family have decided that twice is enough for us and the Hotel NH and will be looking to stay at another hotel in the area when we are back in Sagunto next Spring.
The hotel is close to a mall, maybe 10min with taxi and very close to restaurants, maybe 5-6min by foot. When we booked we paid extra for late check out but when we arrived at the hotel, the guy in the reception said he didn’t know anything about that and as far as we understood it wasn’t possible, but it was. After 4 days, we had to change room because of the water coming down from the floor above us, and they didn’t felt much sorry about that to be honest. There is a young guy in the reception who gave us a lot of wrong information several times for some reason, first of all with the late check in, second, when we asked him which time of the day the sun was on the pool area, it felt like we asked him a million dollar question, he said he didn’t know, and he didn’t even try to ask one of his colleagues at least, third one, one day when we ordered food to our room, we bought 2 menus with fries, burger and drink, all included for 9.95$ each but for some reason he created an order separately for all of the things so the price was like 17.99$ each instead, fourth, every time when we ordered taxi usually they arrived in 5min but when this guy helped us, the taxi never showed up so we had to remind one of the girls in order to have a taxi, so if you do have any questions don’t ask him, ask the girls cuz they did their best to find an answer which was really good even though none of them speak English very well. :) The dinner at the hotel was very lame to be honest, I recommend you to eat outside at the restaurants nearby cuz you will definitely get much more food and more tasty as well.
Great location as it's just outside the main areas so plenty of space to park, quiet, yet easy to walk to the shops, restaurants and beach (15 minutes) - reception will give you a map. Reasonably priced petrol round the corner too. Lovely bright reception area, nice receptionists, large well appointed room and bathroom. Our room faced the corner of the road yet was still quiet. Warm pool (on 10th September) though the sun wasn't on it from about just after 6pm. Would definitely stay here again.
It is located between an industrial area, the port and the beach, but easily by taxi or by foot you can reach any destination The hotel has small swimming pool with some chairs outside It is really nice the decoration linked to the port business, this is really special The breakfast is good and with many choices, coffee can be improved The rooms are standard as each NH and so always clean ane with enough space
This hotel is located in an industrial estate, about 1km from the beach. I go to Sagunto about once per month and have tried most of them. in my opinion this is the best in the area for year-round business trips (there are others, but some are closed over winter, others full of holiday makers in the summer). The plumbing and heating are not great though in this hotel. Showers are a bit flimsy and anarchic and the hotel is often over-heated in winter. It can be noisy in some rooms if you leave the window open- this is due to early morning garbage collection and other industrial-type noises. The staff are very friendly here and breakfasts are just right
Reception had some problem. I can't use my credit card for my payment because machine didn't work. My friend as well. But their receptioninst said that my credit card had some problem. Please maintain the machine.
We stay in thet hotel and we find a great place Clean Funtional and good breakfast also the position is good for joining all destination I suggest this hotel also for Valencia if do you have car But beach is really close
Very friendly hotel, obviously geared up for people visiting nearby businesses. Not really an area visited by tourists. My room was a decent size and very comfortable with a good size bathroom. The gym was across the hall but I never saw anyone in there and I don't think it was warm enough to use the outdoor pool. Small selection of hot food at breakfast but plenty to choose from on the cold counter, all good quality. I don't think they served lunch but snacks were available in the lobby next to the bar. Tea and coffee always available. No kettle in the room unfortunately. The beach and various eateries are about a 15-20 minute walk away and I didn't see any public transport in the vicinity. reception staff very pleasant and helpful.
Rooms were big and very spacious however the air conditioner doesn't work properly. I complained that it wasn't working properly and wasn't given enough attention. I didn't sleep at all as it was around 30 degrees in the room. I went down to reception at 5 am again and they said there was nothing they can do.
I was surprised to read some more of the other reviews. 1) the hotel has FREE wifi 2) excellent breakfast 3) excellent working air-conditioning 4) good beds 5) attentive staff The hotel is situated at the west side of the city about 15 minutes walk from the "city" The city is a typical non presumptuous sea side town, not a great miss....
