Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort4.0 out of 5.0

I enjoyed my stay. However I found it curious for a big hotel that there was no porter to take guest to their rooms on arrival. On the two occasions I have stayed here I was left to make my way to my room on my own. This is shameful to say the least. It does not speak well of a hotel of this magnitude. In addition the tv sets in the room are outdated. Please change them to modern sets. Overall I will come back here any day.
It was exciting to return to Le Meridien Ibom given the good first impression I had the last time. This time we stayed as a family and while it was an overall good stay the hotel had the facilities to have made it a great stay but the absence of all the little perks that make it worth your while where missing. The rooms: We booked 2 executive rooms interconnected and they were comfortable but again they were just okay. The AC was hardly adjustable it seemed you could put it off and make it warmer but hardly a way to make it any cooler. The TV's seemed like they belonged to the dark ages and had a number of channels that you might need to squint to watch. The connecting doors could not be locked and after several calls to maintenance we found out that it was a hotel policy not to lock connecting doors and I thought that was weird; that kissed good bye to your privacy from your kids when you want it (if you are with kids or in two families you are better off requesting 2 separate rooms). The food: No issues here. pricey but you get to expect that from a "four star" hotel. The Facilities: This was perhaps the best part of the hotel, they had a lot to offer here including a play area for children with sporting activities, Table tennis, A very good swimming pool (and a smaller section for children), a fully functional Gym and a trained fitness instructor Andy (great guy), and the golf course (I didn't play though, it was raining through out my stay but was brave enough to go running around) and the view is breathe taking. The staff: They are friendly and really do the best they can with whats available. Over all I think its a good place but has all the qualities to even match 5Star brands but needs a lot more management input especially in the "details". Although its still the best place to be if you are visiting Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria.
The rooms were not bad, the Tv's are kinda old though but it was not bat at all. Although the overall hotel needs renovation. And the rooms are quite a distance from the reception area. Not bad at all if you're just going to rest.
The Le Meridien Ibom hotel is an oasis of serenity.Located in the sleepy rural outskirts of Uyo city in this south south state of Nigeria. From the tree lined entrance you are ushered into the lush green and well manicured grounds of the hotel.A single floor sprawling structure ,it has a spacious welcoming foyer with a lovely round fountain.I had a room on the upper floor. It was spacious, clean and well kept. The bathroom had a partitioned shower cubicle and a bathtub with ample toiletries. The bed was comfortable but the TV set was archaic and needs to be updated. There is a balcony where you can sit out to enjoy the breeze while gazing out into the serene and quiet surroundings. Breakfast ,lunch and dinner were buffet ,offering variety of tasty local and international dishes. The local delicacy for which the state is well known called edikaikon is prepared in your presence according to your specifications.Staff were friendly and welcoming always greeting you in the true African fashion. There is a 18 hole golf course on the grounds.Didn't visit it but saw it from the car while driving into the hotel. If you are looking for a quiet place, away from the hustle and buzzle or a place for personal or business retreat, then the Ibom is the place to be.
It's always good to be back here. Very helpful staff and the barman was really great. I love the fact that they now have bicycles for guests who are interested in cycling. The wide expanse of land with loads of greenery gives the place a serene feel.
Beautiful resort with so many amenities ...great security, constant electricity and AC. The buffet is grand, also the have live band every evening. Thanks Victoria for your extraordinary service. They have a golf resort as well.
very relaxed atmosphere after a long and hard day at a business trip. very warm and well mannered staff. good food and well thought designs. very clean & lovely bathrooms which are very important to me, so i don't pick up an ailment after a stay. great breakfast to set one on the new day's journey.
This property is excellent for a vacation. It feels like getting lost in the rain forest after all the stress of the city. It is surrounded by nature (green). Very quiet environment. The hotel has a pool area where you could relax with your family. Sure you could take very nice pictures at the water fountain outside your room. I had a good chat with a chef during a Sunday buffet brunch. They are ready to tell you all about Uyo and to explain to you how the Ibom food are made. He made Editan soup for me at the spot. The warmness i felt will always bring me back to Le Meridien.
There are not too many western standard hotels in the Nigerian bush. The Le Meridien is like a mirage. This is a top class hotel with a finely manicured golf course located in the shanty surroundings of Uyo. Uyo airport is new and modern. Look out for the old Colonial style houses on the way to the hotel. Great outdoor swimming pool, good restaurant, but pricey.
I took my family on a road trip in 2009 to Akwa Ibom (so i guess this review is a bit belated) then comprising my new expecting wife and myself to this beautiful Hotel set on acres of luscious green. At the time it had barely been commissioned if at all but had pretty much everything in place. My wife was initially very sceptical as it was her first trip to the SS but driving into the hotel up the streets lined with street lights and the sweeping drive way had her relaxed in no time. Easy check in, operational ATMs, were like the initial indications we would really have a blast. We were given a well appointed room with ethnic accents on the first floor which overlooked the pool, great view!! Our first meal was in the room, it came in good time, hot and tasty. breakfast we had downstairs with a decent spread and a good choice of freshly squeezed and processed juices. We went down to the sports cabin at the foot of the property and enjoyed chips and chicken while 'teaching' my pregnant wife the basics of snooker. A romantic stroll to the jetty had me thinking wow could it get any better. We had a unfortunate incident with the wife feeling under the weather on the second day and the desk kindly directed us to the clinic on site which was extremely helpful. What can i say the ambiance was beautiful, the meals tasty, the service top notch. I still look forward to returning to the property...... perhaps valentines day?
