I was so happy to stay at this hotel, the staff are very hospitable the room was beautiful, we had a balcony view onto the golf course with the river in the background. My husband and I were there on our way back from a conference he was attending in Punta Del Este, we coincided this whole trip to also celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. That being said we treated ourselves to a couples massage at the hotel spa, the whole experience was really lovely, the massage therapists very professional and sweet. The hotel sent us up champagne and treats to our room (see picture) The gym at this hotel is excellent, the pools outside were excellent, no access to the river that we could see from the hotel. This hotel is about 4 miles from the port and old town area in Colonia, but the hotel has bicycles that you can request and or the taxi's into the restaurants and shops costs $11 dollars. Really loved this hotel and whole experience I was a little sad we did not have more time here.
Very nice Hotel, Big room, staff is very friendly, the Beds are very good. Kids club is excellent _ it allows couples to have a time alone as kids may stay and even have lunch in the club. Warm pool and spa is very good. The bar a many options in the menu, good prices compared to local places downtown at Colonia. I was there on winter, did not use outside pool, a pity, sure it is very nice.
This property is set away from the center, in the middle of the greens, surrounded by trees and golf courts. Cava Real, the restaurant is wonderful.it has its own winery and during weekends they offer a la carte and buffet dining options, plus, they offer kids menu. The spa treatments are high quality and you have a nice massage menu to chose from. Breakfast is buffet and everything is delicious. They do offer gluten free options. They offer several outdoor pools and well as a a Jacuzzi and an indoor pool as part of the spa. The indoor pool allows kids from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. is only available to adults until 10 p.m. We were given 3 coupons upon our check in. two of these had credit to be used towards gold and spa which we did for the spa. The third one offered two welcome, non-alcoholic drinks. We used this last coupon on the last day and when we redeemed it, my husband asked for a coffee which was included but then I asked for an orange juice which was not included in the welcome drinks. If it had been a bottled juice, that would have counted but since it was orange squeezed, it didn't...i thought that was cheap from Sheraton. Kids Sheratoons playing area should be refurbished. It looks sort of dirty and not very neat. Plus, since it's located in the -1 floor, it has no windows so no day light. Also, technology in the room should be replaced with newer devices and the carpets should be replaced as well...they look dirty. Also, I'm a SPG member since 2013 and I was not given a SPG room at check-in. Anyway, our stay was wonderful and we enjoyed our family time together in this relaxing open-air place. The staff was super friendly.
I am from Boston in the US and traveling South America for a while to learn the language and experience the cultures, regional food and wine. I have been in the restaurant business for over thirty years so fully appreciate great service, yet my standards are pretty high since I know first hand what should be the base of expectations. One assumes incorrectly that simply spending enough money for certain Brands will assure you of receiving proportionate value in return. Sadly that is rarely the case. But from my first encounter at check in, to literally my walking out the door upon checking out when an employee raced across the lobby to hold the door open for me , I can honestly say WOW! This place could and maybe should serve as a training center for how true Hospitality should be. I barely speak or understand Spanish (thus the time I'm spending to learn) Yet every server, bartender, spa/gym staff, even the maintenance and housekeeping staff could not have been more polite, professional and patient. And either they were all academy award winning actors or they were simply sincere and genuine in their willingness to help and assist in every encounter. The food at the Restaurant was outstanding from starters, to entree's. From design of the menu to execution and presentation which with several dishes was literally a work of art.The chef himself Marcos Rosso came out and spoke to me sharing his experiences of his time working in NY, while explaining the preparation for the meal I had chosen. And did so with the ease and nature of one who clearly enjoys sharing the love of great food with those who appreciate it. I recently had the privilege of Dining at Francis Malman's Patagonia Sur in Buenos Aires a few weeks prior to my stay here. I have to say my meals at the Sheraton were most definitely in the same sphere. The architect and interior designer who created the Hotel did an amazing job. From form to function and everything in between the place is stunning and yet comfortable, warm, and inviting. I seldom write reviews as I was taught that if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing. And because of my time and experience in Hospitality and travel, it is so rare to find a place that exceeds so significantly what should be the base of expectations given their price point and status. I feel truly blessed to have had an opportunity to spend some time at this place, and thus felt the need to share my experience as a public service to all who maybe traveling to Colonia del Sacramento. I will eagerly stay there again if I return to the area...And it will always be such a great memory for me. One can immediately recognize the sheer beauty of the hotel, the grounds and amazing location along the beach. Yet the beauty of the experience thanks to the people there manage to exceed the tangible Sincerely, Patrick T Lynch
This property would not be considered Very Good anywhere else. But when one is in Colonia Del Sacramento, the expectations have to be modified to suit the location. Once a grand new modern hotel and now looking a little faded and in need of some corrective interior repairs, yet we were delighted with the location, the kindness of all hotel staff, the beauty of being so close to greenery as well as water. The rooms are comfortable although our sunset view was harmed by dirty windows. This happened after the worst weather in decades. Heavy rain and high wind caused power outages but the staff in the Restaurant Real as well as house crew made every effort to meet our needs and safety. Kudos. We will be back.
Overall the hotel is very good! Nature is present all around and the personnel is very correct and kind. It is the ideal hotel for resting and I recommend it for sport lovers. The decorations are original and the furniture of the rooms is practical.
We had a wonderful stay. The staff went out of their way to make everything perfect. It was my husband's birthday and they sent up treats before we went out. Our daughter enjoyed the kids club. The young guys running it were great with the kids. We used the indoor pool which was great. The only downside was the cafe where we got coffee and a media luna. The staff there were slack and kept putting on the TV so they could watch loud music videos and inane gossip. We asked for it to be turned down as did another table. The food took ages and so did the bill until I walked out. Then the guy suddenly moved very quickly! I still give the hotel a 5 as everything else outweighed this, but management might want to look at the cafe as it is really not ok.
Taking a short two day trip from Buenos Aires this was the perfect resort to relax and see the historic city of Colonia and enjoy the beach and pool at this hotel. We took a buquebus boat from Puerto Madero to Colonia. Hotel has indoor and outdoor pools and a bus stop to go to the historic part of Colonia.
Modern hotel and services surrounded by golf course. Big 4-storey lobby and attractive pools. Different temperatures in the 3 pools. On river front but no real beach activities. Food service high quality is mostly buffet style in main dining room. Many conventions from Buenos Aires. Eighteen hole golf course hardly used. Back 9 closed as Sheraton trying out soccer golf but little interest when we were there. No shops or stores close by. Fifteen minute taxi ride to downtown historic Colonia. Attentive and professional staff. They could not find our reservation upon check in. Apologies and an upgrade followed.
This is a great hotel if you are in to golf or have convention on site. The hotel is four stars not five. The staff is great and very courteous. The room do need a good makeover! The hotel is only 12 years old but the carpets are stained , paint is peeling on walls , pool and furniture. The food was very good . The golf course is interesting but take a lot of insect repellent! If just visiting the old town stay somewhere else . I like he Radisson. But if you have a meeting and play golf this is the place!
