Hotel is located at walking distance of many city attractions. Room is well sized, bed is enormous and comfortable. Bathroom with shower & tub. Decently furnished and supplied with most common needs. we didn't use room service or the inside restaurant, can't say about it. Staff is friendly an courteous.
I would recommend this hotel. It is not a modern luxury facility, but it provides good service, comfortable accomodation and great location next to the Old City if you are visiting Montevideo. The staff was very helpful and did everything to make me feel welcome. The breakfast is rather good. Value for mojey, definitely. I read a lot of unhappy comments about the room views. My experience in room 405 was good with OK street view.
Great location near the old town as far as I'm concerned but about 30-40minutes in a taxi from Airport. Hotel is pleasant, good staff at check-in and throughout the stay. Breakfast was simple but enough to start the day with eggs and bacon on offer and plenty of south american sweet cakes. Room was clean - did get upgraded as a platinum IHG member to a suite and that was very welcome - rooms don't have a view its not in the area for views, but when on holiday you should not be in the room that much. Wifi was fast and working and a indoor pool on top floor looked nice (thou didn't use) This being my first time in MVD, I would stay again but there is no metro in the city so its buses or taxis (or walk) which could add to the cost and maybe put some people off. You are about a 5 minute walk from the pick up point for the hop on-off tourist bus (see separate review) so your certainly not out of the way Overall a nice hotel, and Thank you for my first stay in Uruguay.
Room was nice but breakfast could be improved. Not much to see or do in the old city. Cruise passengers and the homeless were numerous in the streets. Would not stay here again. No restaurant in hotel. Note: much happier after weekend as more people around and many more places opened. Also heard from hotel manager about new breakfast service and lobby renovations. Desk personnel were very nice and helpful (We speak Spanish). I would stay here again!
This is a wonderful hotel located in a great location. There's a bunch of places to eat and it's close by the square. My room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is very close to the old city and attractions and convenient in several ways, but is also basic for a Holiday Inn. Nice and helpfull staff. Very clean and nice room, but no view at all. No restaurant at the hotel, but the next door El Danubio Azul is quite nice and reasonably priced. The breakfast could be improved with fresh fruit juices and ordered to cook egg. Milk and coffee could be improved, but would be even better if a Cappuccino/expresso could be offered.
Well, it is a relatively low-cost hotel, so I didn't expect much; but the relative hi trip-advisor rating did cause me some expectations anyway so that's maybe my fault. It's an Ok simple hotel; location is fine for old town area, just note that this is not a very pleasant area imho - _very_ dirty streets, poor, few nice buildings and squares... next time if I get to Montevideo I may try to get a place near their amazing beach (well in business trips it is rarely an option... we'll see). Room was well equipped, large, and nice bed. And looked quite clean - well, ok , I did find hairs in shower wall, though - maybe since they don't make it easy for the cleaner to wash the wall? I told them btw at check out , they were not very impressed :) Windows are over a very ugly small roof and very near - wall of another window , very ugly with tiny windows. definitely no view. beware - the hotel was unable to get me a taxi accepting credit card, this was quite a pain since banks (and ATMs) were closed (and , well, ok, I didn't bring enough cash; I'm really an absent-minded professor u know :) ). ah and Uber decided to not work for me for some crazy reason exactly at that time. Found myself a taxi on street... oh that was a funny story, that taxi.. one last detail: room had smell of smoking - I think they don't have no smoking rooms.
Great place, very central, secure and safe. Close to everything you want to see in Montevideo. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are OK. Staff and check in were very nice, polite, friendly and willing to help. In the rooms - I would change the wood floor to carpet and change the polystyrene cups for china/ceramic mugs - we are living in a world of recycling and using polystyrene is certainly not good for our global environment. The bathroom was a little small, but what else do you need to do in there apart from the usual. Worth a stay if going to Montevideo purely for the location, location, location.
A very basic hotel that is undergoing a refurbishing. The best thing about this property is the location (proximity to the Old City) and the staff (very professional and helpful). Additionally, the price for this stay was very economical.
I got to spend a few days in Montevideo and I really enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn there. The main thing for me was the location. It was very close to the Old City, which was about a 2 minute walk. Lots to see and do there. Not too far from the water as well. At night, the casino was a minute out the front door. Service was good, room was comfy, and I slept great.
