Holiday Inn Montevideo

3.5 out of 5.0

A very basic hotel that is undergoing a refurbishing. The best thing about this property is the location (proximity to the Old City) and the staff (very professional and helpful). Additionally, the price for this stay was very economical.

I got to spend a few days in Montevideo and I really enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn there. The main thing for me was the location. It was very close to the Old City, which was about a 2 minute walk. Lots to see and do there. Not too far from the water as well. At night, the casino was a minute out the front door. Service was good, room was comfy, and I slept great.

Recently stayed at this hotel for a one night business trip. Nice, clean room with a comfortable bed at an affordable price (around $100/night with breakfast included). Front desk staff was very helpful and attended to my needs. The hotel is well located and it feels secure. I will stay at this hotel again.

OK hotel, has garage facilities for USD10 per 24 hrs in basement. OK rooms, clean. OK breakfast. Friendly staff. Hotel close to Teatro del Sol and casino. No shuttle service to airport. Typical Holiday Inn style.

Central located hotel , friendly staff. Not really modern, but the room was good, but no views. The breakfast was ok, just common buffet. For a short trip, is ok. The restaurant at evening is empty. The staff at the reception was helpful with maps and guides.

This is a nice hotel with a pool on the roof in a perfect location in the centre of MV next to the Plaza Independence and adjacent to the old town, museums and restaurants. Great staff, very friendly, very Holiday Inn. Super value, big TVs, very clean.... I liked it, 3 nights, location location location....

I am IHG rewards members and booked a queen size room with breakfast. Looks like they have two sections with guestrooms, one with tiny rooms and small bathroom and shower only and a second section larger decent rooms with full bath. I booked full bath but it wasn't honored. The breakfast is tiny, no natural juice but some powder mixed with water called juice, interesting enough the tables had signs that if someone takes an item he will be billed for it, are they afraid someone may walk out with a teabag or salt? Very little fresh fruit, really expected a decent breakfast when you pay a higher rate that includes breakfast. Also is listed in brochures at the hotel and elsewhere that they have a "SAUNA" but its not the case. So be aware, the room they give it may not be the room you booked, breakfast is below par, no SAUNA and the gym is about two elliptical two bikes and running machine. Depending where is your room you may or may not have to get all dressed up again. I am not convinced enough to go back to this property. PS The don't exchange USD to Uruguayan Pesos...

Located at the heart of the city. This is a decent hotel.Rooms were pretty decent and clean.I stayed in room no 311.Receptionist at the lobby was very proactive and jolly. Had a comfortable stay. Please note they don't change US dollars you need to go to nearby casino to get it changed.Plaza independencia is at a walk able distance from the hotel.

We stayed for three nights. We were upgraded to the President's Suite, which in all honesty wasn't particularly "presidential" but it did have two separate rooms, which was nice. Unfortunately, even though it was on a non-smoking floor it still smelled like an ashtray (they should make the entire hotel non-smoking). The room was fine - comfortable, in fact. Fixtures and bed were in good condition (although the windows were filthy), and it wasn't particularly noisy. Service was also courteous and relatively efficient. The breakfast service was pretty lousy - as others have said, a cramped space and generally low-quality food on offer. The pool area was nice, but the pool itself really needed a thorough cleaning and the water temperature was tepid to warm - not at all refreshing on a hot summer day. All in all, a decent enough place to stay if you want to be close to the Center and Ciudad Vieja, but otherwise not many redeeming aspects.

Checked into this hotel assuming it would be a regular Holiday Inn, it isn't. More like a Motel 6 on a bad day. Beds were uncomfortable, rooms were smelly. On a good note, the location is good and the staff was very nice.
