Clarion Hotel Gillet

Pleasant and upbeat in great location

The modern room (superior double) was spacious and well styled, in upbeat colors. Pool and health club were fine and the breakfast excellent. The front desk staff was helpful. Overall a very good experience. Clearly a good choice for Uppsala.

Best Western Hotel Svava

Good value in standard business hotel.

Overall satisfactory for a reasonable price, but some issues could have been better. As with most hotels in Sweden, the room was not very large, but was adequate. The bathroom was quite small, however. The buffet breakfast was fine and similar to most hotels - other than runny scrambled eggs that may have been from a mix. Glad they had hard boiled, open-faced eggs as a nice option, plus lots of variety of other food, including fresh orange juice. Would prefer a lightweight blanket option, rather than a comforter that is common in nearly all hotels and was too warm. Was told by a local resident that train station area is not safe for walking at night, due to transients and drug use. We did not experience any problems, other than seeing a few beggars. Parking around corner was expensive and not convenient for reaching rooms through corridors to an elevator that was far from the room and required pulling luggage up a flight of stairs to top floor. Parking situation was not clear enough at check-in. Would have been easier to bring luggage into elevator through front entrance than through the underground parking. Metered parking ticket machine was not in English until inserting a credit card. In/out only available on weekends at lower rate bought at hotel desk. Could not use or register credits for Best Western rewards when booking through Orbitz.
