La Quinta Inn Tyler

Read the other reviews and didn't expect much from this motel. There is a newer LaQuinta a few miles around the loop highway, but for $40+ more. First room assigned stunk like smoke. They assigned another room, and this one smelled like dog. I opened the door for a half-hour trying to air it out. Very outdated place - looks like something out of the 90s. Just didn't seem very clean - I didn't walk around without shoes on. Worst thing was that the HVAC system would not constantly run to provide white noise. It either cooled or heated and wouldn't run a constant fan. In an attempt to drown out the road noise and get some sleep, I jacked the heat up to keep the fan running. When it shut off, I turned the A/C on to 60 degrees to keep the fan running another hour. Other than a good location - near lots of restaurants - it's not a good place to stay.

Not what I expected from my previous experience with La Quinta hotels. This one had a strong humidity smell. I tried applying odor-eliminating spray several times and swamp like smell never went away.

This is an extremely dated hotel. Room Smelled, finishes were scratched, rusted, stained, etc... The chair in the room was stained and crusty. Spider in the bathtub. The smell of the room was the worst part. Reminded me of what I would expect an hourly motel to be like.

Was very disappointed in this hotel. Smelled like a smoker's room, not cleaned well, toilet didn't flush good, dripping faucet in tub, and hot. Fully booked could not change rooms. Complained to the manager, but did not get a refund.

Ive stayed at many Laquintas, the room i got in to smelled like smoke, my key didnt work twice, and on 2 occasions, the cleaned my room and left the towels on the floor, and when i call to request new towels they me had me to get them

NOT THE BEST LA QUINTA I HAVE BEEN IN AS OTHER LA QUINTA HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER. REALLY DISAPPOINTED AT THIS ONE.

Just didn't feel welcomed whenever I arrived by the staff. I asked for some help finding something just decided to say no and not help. Room smelled like smoke when I walked into and upon entry I found a spider hanging over my bed.

Hotel was average overall, nothing stands out as exceptional. Staff were friendly and location is near major stores.

I stay here every 2 weeks and the staff is great and the room is always good to go.

Will not stay here again. The room smelled of smoke and urine. I asked for non-smoking. The bath room floor had dirt in the corners, door had lots of dirty handprints, the pipes, which could be seen, under the sink was crusted with dirt. The front door when shut had a 3/4 of an inch plus gap around the door frame. Could hear noise, dogs, traffic. When I pulled my bedspread back I found long black hairs on the sheets and on the bathroom floor. I have short hair. So glad we only stayed one night.

smokefree rooms with smell of cigarettes good breakfast

Hotel was nice overall. Staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Hotel is nearby stores and restaurants so you don't have to drive far to get anywhere you need. Bathrooms and room was overall clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if I happen to drive through again.

Asked for nonsmoking room but got one that smelled very smoky. Had to request different room. The next room smelled better but had neighbors that had dogs that barked......a lot. Hair in the tub.

This hotel served it's purpose for us - a place to sleep after working in town. Breakfast was good, rooms were nice and staff was excellent.

This is a great place, my room initially smelled like smoke (I had reserved non-smoking) and I called just to make sure I was in a non-smoking room. They said I was and asked if it smelled like smoke and gave me the option to have air fresheners or change rooms. I got a different room immediately without any hassle. The room was great, clean, and very comfortable. Bed was great, free wifi and a nice waffle or cereal breakfast was a real plus. the staff was nice and friendly and it was a nice stay. Also hotel is fairly close to everything including a mall (small) and restaurants. Good place

The hotel had clean rooms and polite front desk folks!

Good, Very Cordial. I would stay there again. The place is located rt in the middle of town , easy acces to all events needed to attend.

The hotel was an older hotel. I went to check in and the clerk at the front desk was actually yelling at Orbtz over the phone because of a dispute over the credit card that Orbtz gave for the room. Not my issue, and just wanted my room key. Room was noisy and the bathroom was falling apart. When I went to breakfast we were a little late, had a family member in the hostpital so a little late to eat, the staff started taking away the food. Very rude, should let the customers at least finish breakfast. Last time to stay here.

Staff was friendly. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last few years. The staff have always been friendly. Furniture is basic and clean. Free internet. Free breakfast is boring. The hotel coffee is terrible. I have learned to bring my own single use coffee packets and avoid the hotel coffee all together. The hotel is old. I do not know how old that hotel is. I have been traveling to Tyler for over 30 years. This hotel has always been there. The plumbing is the low point of this hotel. Over my many stays at this hotel I have observed slow drains, defective fixtures, and wet carpet. I will return to this hotel in the future. The poor plumbing and coffee is offset by good location and a friendly staff.

This motel was quiet and good for our two day stay. Bed was very comfortable. Very friendly staff.
