I like the hotel itself, the ambience; the dining experience at the Terrace was not good at all: food unappealing, not fresh and cold...expected a bit more

Like staying in a museum. You really get a sense of Istanbul’s massive culture and history. Hemingway and Agatha Christie stayed there with the orient express. The halls are glorious. The staff professional on the formal side. Indoor pool was closed. Housekeeping was almost comically dedicated, helpful and kind. Room service was great. Spa did not look particularly inviting. Outdoor restaurant was great and my room was great despite a bit of noise from traffic and some club that played music I believe til midnight every night. I stayed for three weeks. I think 3-5 days would have gotten the best out of the hotel and I should have gotten a place with more outdoor space and a big pool after. Excellent location. Don’t forget to see Ataturk’s room turned into a museum. It really brings turkey’s history alive for you. Great intro to Istanbul.and oh, location, location, location.
Chose it because of its history with the oriental express and Agatha Christie. Got so much more. Everyone was kind and Helpful. We stayed as a couple twice on arrival and before departure. They changed our room immediately. We had asked for a king bed on both stays and our things were in 2single beds. They switched the room instantaneously and everyone was kind and helpful. We had a rental car and they Parked it and brought it back. The breakfast was excellent as well as the room service when we had dinner in our room the first two nights in istambul. It was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend it and would stay again given the chance. Laura and john
