Quality Inn By The Bay

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Parking spaces were too narrow hard to unload and load vehicle. Staff was very accommodating. Breakfast room seemed small for the number of guests. Only one waffle maker and no bananas. We only stayed one night but this was our experience 3.5 out of 5 seems a bit generous because this is not like staying at the Cherry Tree Inn or West Bay Holiday Inn. Compared to similar motels 3.5 is fine. It sure would be nice to park in front of your room. We had to park in a different section toward the back of the motel and walk to our room which was towards the front. Was probably caused by guests of one room arriving in multiple vehicles. I think parking should be assigned by room number if this issue was addressed then I would recommend the motel.

Very nice. Enjoyable.View of the Grand Traverse Bay. Friendly staff.

Too expensive for what you get, I've stayed at places that were less than half as much. But I will say that the staff was very friendly when I checked in and out. And the breakfast buffet was well kept up.

Staff was excellent, room was good, location was good, but room was overpriced even with an event in town.

Issues began with poor customer service when we arrived and went down hill after that. Barking dogs in a hotel make for poor sleeping conditions.

Great hotel for the price. The staff was very helpful with providing maps to Sleeping Bear Dunes and highlighting the attractions.

This is an average motel that is well past it's prime. The furniture had stains, the bedding and towels are thread bare and the air-conditioning, even without a particularly warm August day, never really cooled the room. The front desk staff was pleasant but can not make up for the shortcomings in basic expectations. We went to get breakfast at 8:45am and many items were gone and refills in sight. I encourage you to keep going. The price was higher due to film festival activities in town but should have been about one-fifth of the assessed charge. Very disappointing and will have us staying further north in places like Charlevoix going forward.

The hotel was the perfect location for a weekend getaway to the beach. Right across from the bay and only a few miles from downtown Traverse City.

Friendly staff, clean rooms...enjoyed the hot tub (pool is a little small)...my daughter loved the waffle maker...it was quiet, and ALL nonsmoking...

Very Nice. I was with 2 senior women and we stayed in a room with very close access to an elevator, which was perfect. Happy that there was a Night Light on the bottom of the blow dryer for night time. We got up multiple times during the evening and the night light was very helpful and a needed necessity for us. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful (except for the orange juice). Happy that there were hard boiled eggs as well as other selected items.

Nice hotel for the money. Facilities are older but clean. Staff was very kind! Pretty good breakfast too.

Room was very comfortable--we had one with a fireplace and jacuzzi--good breakfast.

The UGLY: The rooms REEK of cigarettes & that horrible stuff they use to try cover it up. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. The BAD: ZERO bay view unless you stand off to one side in the parking lot & peer between two other buildings. The location is quite far down from all the main stuff in Traverse City so you can't leave your car and walk around town. The GOOD: Comfortable Beds and free breakfast

The hotel has a good location, very close to restraunts, stores, and across the street from the bay. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The room was clean, but the beds were small and not queen size as they said, but rather full size. Bathroom was small, but we were rarely in the room. The breakfast buffet was very good.

The staff was nice and the breakfast was extensive. The only downfall was that none of their rooms had a fridge or microwave. Also the mattresses weren't very comfortable but I still slept ok.

This hotel was close enough to everything without being right in the middle of all kinds of traffic and chaos. We were 5 minutes from downtown and 2 minutes from the road that rides in the middle of both penninsula's. When you walk out the front door you have a view of the gorgeous lake which was blues and greens. Public beach was a minute away too. a nice walk, a little bit of a walk though. We will definatley stay there again. We went to the winery's, dinner at the microbrewery above kilkennys bar. Steak was ok, pricey for the quality not being so great. The bar downstairs was awesome. Great music and diverse crowd. Went to holiday inn for dancing in their bar. Music was the best. We will be back.

Very nice location. Good quick breakfast.

The rooms are old. Not clean. You hear any conversation of the people above or next to your room. The badthroom looks like not cleaned for long time. For $155 per night this was poor quality for a high price.

Room smelled cigarette smoke very bad . My wife is pregnant and that is not acceptable!

staff were very nice once we checked in. [...] What should have been a small lobby was filled with tables and chairs and breakfast bar. Not really room enough for all the guests to actually eat there. Very awkward to try and check out as others were eating. NOT ANYTHING like the commercials on TV!!! Beds not that comfy, small rooms, breakfast was very sad. whatever happened to truth in advertising? Probably WON'T stay there again!
