was at this hotel for 1 night and my review as follows: 1) Location: It is almost in the middle of the city centre with the main shopping street just beside the hotel. There's tram services too in front of the hotel. Hotel is about 15 minutes walk or so from Linz HBF (about 1 km). Plenty of shops, eateries surrounding the hotels, so overall, the location is excellent. The next day, as we have to take the Flixbus from Linz Industrialiase, we just took a taxi from the hotel and it costs us 9 euro. 2) Hotel Outlook, Lobby and Check In Hotel outlook is still ok, although look a bit dated. Lobby is ok and dated. Check in was fast. 3) Room 214 Room is small/compact with limited view of roof. Bed is compact (Queen size i think). Limited space to put large luggage. Bathroom is compact but is ok (not very small). Shower is on top of bathtub and can be a bit slippery. Room is dated. I also noticed that the room is not very clean as there is a peanut near to the tv area. I am not sure if the room is worthy of a 4 star rating nor does it feel luxury. Just average in my opinion. 4) Wifi Wifi signals are good and consistent. 5) Buffet Breakfast I think this was the highlight of the hotel. The buffet breakfast spread is good and felt very fresh too. I saw a lot of organics items being offered. The breakfast area is cosy and comfortable. Service staffs were pleasant and very welcoming. I did enjoy the buffet breakfast a lot. Two thumbs up. 6) Others There's some confusion during check out as to whether breakfast was included or not in our booking. It was a mistake which i should have reconfirmed during check in. The confusion was when we enter the breakfast area and a male staff asked for our room number, he told us that our room is not listed in his list. So, we asked him to reconfirm with the reception. After about 2 or 3 minutes, he eventually told us he did check with the reception and he said it was "ok". We assume "ok" means it is included in our room booking. To much surprised, during check out, we were informed that our room booking was without breakfast inclusion. The male staff at the breakfast did apologise for the confusion as maybe it was due to language barrier in communications. However, the male receptionist appeared to be very angry and even sounded like as if he is shouting at us for the confusion eventhough in the end he just waived the breakfast charges. I thought the whole situation could have been handled more professionally without even having to raise any voice at us. Never mind then as it was partly our mistake too. Overall, if you are looking for hotel with good location and good buffet breakfast, i would highly recommend this hotel. However, if you are looking for a spacious modern and trendy rooms, then please do not select this hotel as the room is dated.
Hello, I stayed here 5 nights in March. The room was spacious and clean so that is fine. A few thing which I didn't like about the hotel: the interior looks a little bit outdated, the shower in my room had difficulty to keep the same temperature (it switched from warm to cold and the other way around while I was showering). One last thing I also didn't liked: I delivered my laundry in the morning (Wednesday) and the next morning (Thursday) it would be ready. On Thursday evening I went to the reception to collect it (yes they don't deliver it to the room...), I was told it was not there and it would maybe be there Friday morning. Friday morning at checkout, my laundry was still not there and I had to wait some additional minutes for it. So at the end I had to start folding my shirts in my car to put it in my laundry (i was already checked out). So instead of delivering at the correct time, they deliver it one day later and they don't really seem to care about it. And there are other hotels in Linz who give better services, same kind of rooms and stars who charge way less for a night.
The late Check in at nearly midnight was odd as there was no one at the reception. Just a sign that he will be back soon and a phone number. After waiting 5 minuets I called and got attended promptly with a room key at the 5th floor. The room was cosy and a bathroom with a bathtub as requested. After a restful sleep I felt energetic enough to looking for the fitness room on the same floor. I found a room with the sign “sauna” - but my key didn’t work for it. I found out later that the small fitness room was indeed located there but needed an extra key. There was a bike and weight machine there and a couple of weights. I would have like to see matts and more weights. Instead I went to get breakfast. There was a nice selection of pastries, breads, and cereal, jams and ham, cheeses as well as scrambled eggs, veg, bacon and Austrian and hot dog style sausages. There was also a Austrian section which I really enjoyed. The hotel is located very centrally 10 minuets walk to central station and directly at the Landstraße with all the shops and bakeries, pubs and restaurants. Overall a very pleasant stay.
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the main train station, and about the same distance from the main square in the Old Town. There are bakeries nearby as well as a Subway sandwich shop. The room itself had a nice decor and was roomy and well laid out. It had a fridge. Staff was very congenial. And I enjoyed the Christmas decorations in the lobby and bar, they were very pretty and classy.
Great location to get around Linz - walking distance for all areas be it the Christmas Market or the Linz Tips Arena. From the hotel you are straight on to the main high street with high street shops or for the deli or even if you want a McDonalds. We ate at the italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel and it was excellent and reasonably price, the calzone pizza was fantastic! The hotel is clean tidy and welcoming on arrival. I stayed 3 nights in the Executive double room. Very clean, good temperature, bed very comfortable, robe and slipper and mini bar free for soft drinks (I hadn't been aware nor had a friend also staying in the hotel who on checkout was informed - bit late for us - check with reception). I walked the majority of the city during my stay and also got out for 4 quality runs up to 8 miles - felt safe throughout stay even when running early or in the early evening be it through the park up to the Linz Tips Arena or along the Danube. Great city and one I would definite recommend visiting.
We stayed in this hotel on two occasions, once for one night and the second time for two nights. The firs time, the wife's luggage was lost by an air line and the staff helped us with several phone calls to track the whereabouts of the coffers. The second time I had need of a doctor and the staff again went out of their way to help us find one and eventually arrange transportation to a hospital, all this with total understanding and friendliness. The check-in and check-out at both occasions was quick, professional and, again, friendly. The hotel is fairly large, the rooms are clean, standard size, modern and have all the normal amenities, including a tub/shower and safe. It is separated from one of the main streets by a small park and therefore quiet. It is in an excellent location for walking the city and has a tram station nearby. Walk to the Danube or some of the older parts of the city and large squares or take the trams which seem to have a lively schedule. There are many restaurants along the "Landstrasse", Linz's main street. There is a restaurant on the premises but we never ate there so I can't comment on the food. There is a nice breakfast area and the food is good, plenty and varied but not exceptional. There is also a Casino attached to the hotel but we did not visit it, so, again, I cannot comment. If we should return to Linz, this is the place we would stay again.
A short taxi ride from the central station this large business hotel has all bases covered. A quick check-in process, wide corridors, compact rooms with all facilities and services carefully considered. Clean, calm and relaxed all linked in a convenient package. I went down to dinner and was served very quickly, very friendly staff and with a quick and tasty dinner of meat and veg. Nice glass of local beer. Right in town so lots of other eating options nearby plays the casino right next door.
This hotel is located at the far end of a very small park, set back from the main shopping street in Linz; the hotel is also adjacent to a casino. If you are a tourist, it is a fine base from which to explore this city. There's a tram stop on the far end of the park, and trams seem to arrive there every few minutes. Hop on any tram, go three stops, and you're at the Hauptplatz, the center for tourist activities (and the tourist office). You can also easily walk to the Hauptplatz from the hotel; it's a pleasant stroll of perhaps 15 minutes. This is a non-smoking hotel, a huge plus. My junior suite was large and nicely decorated. There was a comfortable bed (2 single mattresses combined in a larger frame; this seems to be common in Austria), a good-sized flatscreen TV, a minibar, and a coffeemaker, in addition to a small sofa, chair, and work desk partially obscured by the television. This hotel has air conditioning, a luxury in Austria, but incredibly, the temperature dial has no numerical display of any kind on it. You can see that turning the dial one way will lower the temperature, while turning it the other way has the opposite effect, but really? No numbers? I have to guess to find my comfort zone? The staffer showing me the room actually apologized for this, so they must get a lot of complaints about it. The bathroom was quite sizable, with a tub, a separate shower that can fit at least two people, a separate toilet, and an absurdly cheap hairdryer. I was in Room 435, and it was very quiet. The windows in this room actually open if you want to get some fresh air. I did not eat in the restaurant or go to the casino, so I cannot comment on either. My only other issue here is that a few of the personnel have a questionable attitude. Most were cheerful and anxious to help (especially Anthony at the front desk), but the first night I stayed there, I noticed there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign to be found. I called down to the front desk to inquire about getting one; the young lady who answered the phone first questioned if I had looked for it, then said, “Maybe it is in the closet”---and that was the extent of her suggestion. Overall, however, my experience here was very good, and I would stay again. Tip: At this writing, there is a wonderful Farmers' Market held in the Hauptplatz on Tuesday and Friday mornings, with vendors offering everything from fish to flowers, meat to “marmeladen” (preserves), pastry to pumpkinseed oil to produce.
We highly recommend this hotel for its staff who went beyond the call of duty to help us with a problem that happened during our stay in Linz. Their solution to our problem was unique, clever and done with great generosity of their time. In decades of travel, only one other hotel had service that equalled that at the Austria Trend. The hotel is as convenient as you can find in the city center. Parking in the hotel garage was very secure and spacious and at a reasonable cost for a tight city center. Reception was friendly, efficient and comprehensive. The lifts are secure, spacious and speedy. The hotel is modern and attractive inside. Do not be fooled by the exterior. Our room faced the center court (as we requested). It was spacious, but had space for unloading only one suitcase at a time. Closets were spacious. Our room was carpeted. We prefer the cleaner appearance of wood, but the hotel provided slippers and robes as part of the room provisions. There were numerous electrical outlets for all our devices. The Free WiFi was password secured and had a strong signal and good speed. Desk space was adequate, if not generous. There was one chair and a mini-bar. The bathroom was the best equipped on our 3-week trip. Amenities included 2 towels each, wash cloths, floor mats, above average soaps, shampoos and lotions. The hair dryer was powerful but quiet. The breakfast offered hot and cold items. Food quality was well above average and selections were generous. Hot beverage machines provided a wide variety of items. On the downside, the area was not well designed. The eating area serves several different functions during the day and is not quite suitable for any of them. The space is difficult to organize and I have no better solution. The layout has caused the staff to do little more than set the tables, refill breakfast items and remove dishes after use. Guests were frequently waiting for each other to get out of their way. Try as hard as the staff may, breakfast is hectic. Despite a few minor shortcomings, we highly recommend the Austria Trend Hotel Schillerpark. It is nearly perfect for vacationers and business travelers alike.
