We were travelling with a large group and found this hotel to be perfectly acceptable, it was in a good location. Our room was a little small, however, it had a lovely large balcony for us to sit out in. We thought the layout of the hotel could be better, going through to the bar was like going into a back room. However, the bar and barman were very good, very efficient and friendly. The restaurant was okay, but noisy, typical of Italy, food was okay but not the best, breakfast was acceptabvle.
First of all, let me say that so far I have resisted providing a bad review here on TripAdvisor. I leave it to others to rant and if I dislike some aspect of a hotel or restaurant, I've tended to simply not review it. So here goes with my first "negative" review. I will say, to begin with the staff in the Mahara were all wonderfully helpful. I suspect that this is a minor miracle considering some of the things they were up against. The food was excellent and well prepared. We were served by attentive staff and so no complaints there. The bartender was an absolute gem! Where the problems began was with the building and services. During the stay we were without electricity on numerous occasions. Although they offered "free wifi" it was patchy and only available in the public areas. The air conditioning in our room (it was mostly near 30 degree weather) did not work. It simply circulated the hot air. Mostly, for us it did not matter as we were on a tour and away during the day. If we had been in the hotel more, however it would have been most unpleasant.
Its a place to stay and put your head down for the night. Its a bit tired inside, lifts don't work and most stuff advertised isn't open. Its also noisy, mostly from other guests and people scraping furniture around 24x7. Breakfast was passable.
This hotel is just across the road from the promenade, so handy for walks after dinner. It is also just a short walk (turn right as you leave the hotel) from the centre of Mazaro del Vallo, with shops and at least 2 ice cream parlours! There is also a trattoria just a short walk from the hotel where we had a very nice lunch on our first day. A bit further down is a supermarket where you can buy water, as bottled water in hotels in Sicily can work out expensive. The staff were friendly, and everywhere was very clean. Our bedroom was a good size with a balcony which gave us a tiny glimpse of the sea. The floor was tiled and there was aircon, but it seemed only to go down to 22 degrees C. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a walk-in shower, a small supply of toiletries and plenty of shelf space for your own bits and bobs. There is a swimming pool, but apparently the water was very cold, as it was in the other 3 hotels we stayed in during our trip. Take your own pool towel as it can work out expensive to hire a towel from reception. There is a terrace off the bar area for drinks and complementary nibbles. Breakfast was buffet style with the usual selection. We were there as part of a Travelsphere group so dinner was part of our deal, with water and wine included. The food was tasty and of good quality, though was probably not very Sicilian. Portions were on the small side but this did mean that you could get through the 3 courses.
I stayed there for work. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are nice and they have a swimming pool. Breakfast is good with a fine selection of Sicilian desserts. I had a slight problem with the air conditioning in my room but nothing serious.
I loved eating outside at this hotel. We enjoyed using the pool. The room was adequate and the welcome was friendly. We were on a party deal and the food portions were a bit spare the first night but the following night they produced second helpings. Our deal also included wine which was generous. The menu was fish only on two out of three nights but they found an alternative which was very acceptable. Breakfast was a nice range of continental fare but included eggs and bacon one day. The barman was very kind and let us use the piano for a little informal concert our party wanted. We sat outside till quite late with drinks and it was altogether a very pleasant stay. On the downside one night they hosted an 18th birthday party which went on till the early hours. You could check the location of your room and the likelihood of a noisy party. They also wanted 5 Euro for the hire of a swimming towel! This hotel is used to catering for large coach parties and the service was alway civil even though they had to run around. No tea making facilities in the room so pack your kettle and adaptor. WiFi worked eventually but mainly downstairs. WE would definitely return to this hotel as a couple.
An interesting hotel in a decent and quiet location, about quarter of a mile from the centre of town of Mazzara del Vale. The immediate impression was one of lightness and brightness. Welcoming reception staff who swiftly and efficiently dealt with the rooms for our party of forty-five. Big airy room with delightful terrace type balcony, looking out onto quadrangle of the hotel and all facing the the gardens where in the evening the three leven running fountain, was floodlit and the water switched off by 11:00pm to keep any noise down for people trying to sleep, though personally I rather like the sound of running water, ery soothing. These rooms were all on the first floor with dining rooms, public areas and reception below, whereas on the floor above the rooms had small traditional balconies. As with most Italian resort hotels, minimalistic furniture etc, but comfortable beds and crisp linen. The bathrooms were quite different, decorated with Arabic style tiles in the wet room shower and also plenty of space around the basin, for personal items, like toiletries. Pleasant large dining room, helpful waiting staff, but the usual bland indifferent food which one finds in Italian hotels, catering for different nationalities, the really good authentic regional food is to be had in the smaller restaurants in the towns, seafood particularily good in Sicily. Decent and plentiful breakfasts with a lovely variety of things from very sweet cakes and pastries, to really good bread, the usual cereals, fruit, ect and scrambled and boiled eggs, cheese and hams, so plenty to keep you going throughout the morning. The sea straight across the road in front of the hotel and the swimming pool to the back off a huge courtyard. A clean comfortable hotel which I would happily return to.
Wonderful hotel with very friendly staff that were always happy to help. Good rooms with all one needs. Housekeeping was impeccable. Very spacious areas around the hotel and pool were well maintained. Highly recommend this hotel for a holiday of any type

Excellent italian dishes at the restaurant, different meals also clean rooms and helpfull staff. Every evening dinner was made from 3 different italian dishes, it was like journey to italian cousine. Dinner atmosphere truly amazing. Candles, italian music, and dont forget the wine. At the room we had broken bathroom handle, but after informing reception, it was immediately fixed. Despite that everything staying at hotel was amazing. Highly recomend this hotel for restful vacation.
