While attending a convention at Tokyo big site center we are a 10 minute walk away. Wonderful time great stay many restaurants in area and the onsite convenience store lots selections food drink and daily items. Will add photos
I have stayed earlier in another property of Sunroute. The benefit of Sunroute Ariake was that it was very close to Tokyo Big Sight, where we had the exhibition. The hotel does not have very large rooms, but it is good if you just have to spend the night.
Location, location, location! Has a convenient store and postal services at the hotel itself. 5 mins walk to train stations. adjacent buildings have cafes, restaurants, McDonald's, etc. for food and drinks. Airport transfer is directly to and from this hotel.
Great location near the station, the conference centres and Tokyo big sight. I booked this hotel after 2 weeks skiing in Japan and travelled by Shinkansen to Tokyo for 5 nights. When booking I paid extra to have a superior single room however I don’t know if that was just a con because there is nothing superior I can see (perhaps being on 11th floor is what the extra was for?). On arrival the staff are friendly and helpful. I went to my room to unpack. There was NO wardrobe or draws for any clothing, I called reception and the gentleman came up to show me, he pointed to 3 hangers in the hallway on a rail and said this is for my clothes! I said I’m here for 5 nights and that is useless. He changed my room straight away. I was given the same room with different lay out that had a small gap in wall that had a tiny rail and one shelf so I accepted it and changed rooms. I guess it was better than nothing! The room is very clean and modern and enough room for one. The wardrobe is the main downside. The heating only goes down to 20 degrees and makes the small room quite hot for sleeping so had the fan on as well at night even though it is the first week in February. Their is Lawson convenience store in the hotel with ATM that charges so I walked over the road and used the free one at 7 eleven. Room has small fridge so bought some drinks to keep cool. The hotel has a breakfast buffet but they want nearly £12 gbp each day! So I didn’t eat in there. Also it hasn’t got a safe for valuables/passport I know japan is very safe but I don’t like leaving my passport out anywhere!
We stayed for several days to attend a conference in the Tokyo Big Sight. This hotel is conveniently located just across the street from the exhibition hall. I would not recommend this hotel for a visit to Tokyos major sights as the train or metro travels are too long. There are a lot of other options for tourists. The rooms are very small and the air con is not very effective. The room tends to get hot and humid during the night. There is a small fridge but no tee or coffee in the room. Bathroom is standard but not very suitable for a tall person like mee. Breakfast buffet is the same every morning with very little European breakfast selection. There is a small supermarket, a bar and a restaurant at the hotel. Staff is very friendly, however as in the rest of Japan English is a challenge, even in the reception.
We were at this hotel for 6 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable . Air conditioner didn’t work very well and the room was hot at times. Breakfast was fair . Could have had more variety, it was the same thing for 6 mornings. Overall it was fair. Although there was a kettle in the room no coffee nor tea was given.
The hotel is located very close to Tokyo Big Sight, so it is a nice location if you have to be in Big Sight during the day. Otherwise the location is quite far from the exciting part of the city. The size of the room is similar to Japanese hotel standards. There is a desk to work as well. The bathroom has a bathtub which is nice. I was very unhappy with the internet. There were days when I couldn't even load my emails. I was there for work and I would have needed to use the internet, which was almost impossible in the hotel.
I've stayed at better Sunroute hotels. I think the property relies on it's location near Tokyo Big Sight too heavily. First issue occurred at check in when I was told my booking had been cancelled. ( Not so). I then showed her my confirmation emails with my booking reference number. She still couldn't find the booking. Then another member of staff came to assist and all was sorted out in the end. However, not a pleasant way to start one's stay. The room was compact but ok.
Booked last minute so I got last availability on rooms, which I was left with a smoking room. This is not the hotels fault but the stench was very strong for the next few days. Room was very compact and for a big fella it didn't leave me much room to swing a dead cat. Overall the hotel was clean and simple which served the purpose for my trip to a conference at Big Sight, I would stay again but in a non smoking room and bigger room. Last thing the Hotel WiFi sucked during the day, late at night would be the only acceptable time.
Subroute Ariake is a perfect hotel for the 3 days at the exhibition at the Big sight, Tokyo. This hotel has a bus service which connects you directly to the Narita Airport and you can book the same at the hotel reception at approx JPY 2800. Also if you book the same service at the airport it drops you at the hotel doorstep. The Room allotted to us was fantastic with an nice balcony. There is are convenient stores ( Family mart, Seven -Eleven ets) just a stones throw from the hotel. The restaurant seems good as well and was always full with guests having a nice time. Just would have loved if there were some more English channels on the TV. Our room had a coffee-maker, a full fledged kitchenette and cutlery. a refrigerator and washing machine. I loved my stay. and would be back soon.
