As hotels in Nikko are too expensive, Utsunomiya is great place to stay. My Stays is nice hotel, near railway station and numerous restaurants. They have also great parking hall with extremely friendly staff! Also staff at reception and breakfast room is very friendly and helpful. Room was nice, though bit odd by its pattern (6m extra own hallway to real room). Breakfast was very good. Only slight problem was rather slow and on/off WiFi, probably due that hallway?
Location was great just outside the Jr Utsnomiya station, the room was bigger than most Japanese hotel rooms the bathroom was a little bit small and hard to move around in. Restaurants close by and a convenice store down stairs.
The hotel is very close to the rail station without the noise that one would expect. The setup is slightly unusual; lobby on the 1st floor and the rooms on the upper floors and offices and clubs on the other floors. I had a rather small room, which was not that clean. Nevertheless, the bed was comfortable and featured different and good quality pillow options. The hotel offers parking, which is ¥1,100 per night extra. The breakfast buffet costs ¥1,200 and opens at 7am. I did not enjoy it that much the first morning and chose a fast-food cafe in the rail station instead. The staff were all very friendly and tried to help as good as they can although not everyone was able to communicate in English. I guess this hotel is good enough for one or two nights but for a longer stay there might be better options in the city or, maybe better, outside towards Nikko.
This is a perfect location to stay before, during, or after visiting Nikko (or for staying in Utsunomiya). This area is famous for gyoza, and there are delicious gyoza options right in front of the hotel. I really enjoyed the location, the great bed, and nice quality here.
You can esily walk to hitel from train station which located anotherside with downtown district. Among dumpling shop located aling the way to hotel so you can easily found iconic dish of Utsunomiya not too far from hotel. Breakfast was vary with japanese and western style. Good to stay!
I had 8 days here on business. The rooms are not as large as most European hotels, but compared to other Japanese hotels they are ok. The hotel is very friendly and clean. Staff spoke very good English and we're always polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good with cereals, crossers/toast as well as eastern style breakfast items. I would recommend.
I spent 2 nights here in room 610 while travelling through Japan on a 14-day JR Rail Pass using this hotel as a base for sightseeing the area. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from main Utsunomiya JR station - it's possible to use the overpass for much of the journey until you're East of the railway lines. I arrived very early and was allowed to complete the check-in process and store my luggage for the day while I went sightseeing. Upon returning to the hotel I was given the keys to room 610 and informed my bag was already in the room. My room was a “Standard Double” room and was a little larger than the usual small Japanese rooms you get. I too had read the reviews about how good the breakfast and was toying with either paying for a Superior room or having a smaller room but with breakfast included. In the end I paid the approx. £5GBP supplement per day for breakfast to be included. It is a good breakfast, hopefully you can see the photos attached.
Certainly no luscious experience, but the hotel ticked all the boxes for our fourth stay. Only a few minutes walk from the station (exit the station to the right as you arrive from Tokyo), walk past the famous gyoza restaurants and couldn't be much handier really! This time we had fairly small rooms, but previously have been in larger rooms - probably due to the good room rate we received. Importantly, the hotel is clean and the staff are very pleasant and happy to assist - I will definitely return.
stayed four nights, excellent service and we had deluxe twin room, it was huge. Breakfast was mostly Asian but there was western choices too. Close to station , would certainly stay there again. Thought the cost very good.
The hotel is located very close to the "JR Utsunomiya Station" and a very good stay for excursions to Nikko. Just go upstairs from the station over the bridge to cross the railway and on the other side you can already see the Hotel. A 24-hour market is also next to it. Room and service has been good. Free coffee you can have at the lobby and the and water boiler is in the room. No complimentary water in the room, but the water at bathroom is like most places in Japan drinkable. We had also a Vending Machine at our floor to buy fresh , cold drinks and a laundrymachine was available (also on the floor) to wash your clothes. I cant say if it was free to use cause we not needed it. They have also different adapters available at reception , should you have problems to use your private hairblower or something else. the bathroom was small but that is in Japan in this price categorie normal and everywhere :) at last it was also ok same with the bed, we had a good and silent night. For that price I realy recommend to stay here specialy if you plan trips to Nikko, whats also just a 40minutes ride on the train away and easy to do in one day.
