    About this property

Southern Reach: A Little Piece of Tropical Paradise!

Southern Reach was custom built in 2008 on the South shore of Cayman Brac. This stunning shore front home is located just 100 feet from the ocean's edge with amazing views and a comfortable breeze all year long. Our New In ground pool just off our porch and fronts the ocean and is very private. Please note our house is licensed by the Cayman Island Department of Tourism and has been inspected annually by The Cayman Islands Department of Health, The Cayman Fire Service and the Tourism Inspector. You can be assured that our house meets the strictest standards set for Rental Properties in the Cayman Islands and will result in you being totally satisfied with our property. The house offers privacy with all the modern conveniences of home. There are two private bedrooms which face the ocean and have sliding door access to the porch. The master bedroom has a king sized bed. The second bedroom has two twin beds that can be put together if a second king bed is desired. The master bathroom is accessible from the bedroom or the main room. The second bedroom's bath is accessible only through the bedroom. Both bedrooms and the livingroom have sliding glass doors that access the breeze-cooled open air porch. There are two cozy hammocks and an assortment of lounge chairs on the porch. The area on our porch and yard to the waters edge is totally private. We also have a cleared area waterfront for private sunbathing. The house has central air conditioning, washer and dryer, dishwasher, wireless broadband internet, 32 inch smart flat screen tv in living room, one 20 inch flat screen smart tv in master bedroom, dish network, satellite tv, DVD, CD stereos with I Phone connect, and all the other amenities you would expect in a modern home. An open air private shower is located off the porch. The porch has both hammocks and lounge chairs for a nap, reading, or just taking in the refreshing ocean views and breeze. There is a coral stone shore line with a slight sandy beach. Diving or snorkeling can be done right from the shore with reef shoes if you are an experienced swimmer. There is a small cut in the iron shore on the right side of our property facing the ocean. You can enter the ocean their with reef shoes to snorkel, swim or dive when calm. Beachcombing begins right out your back door and is amazing. Beautiful sea birds will happily soar above you as you search for washed up treasure. Natural flora surrounds you, as you are located in the Cayman Country. Explore the island with its many sites, spend a day diving or snorkeling, take a walk on the beach and find some treasures, wander the nature trails in search of native birds, unwind with a wonderful meal in one of the colorful local restaurants, explore the many caves, take in all the beauty around you, then come home to relax in your own private beach house. The Cayman Islands are rated in the top five world wide destinations for diving. Enjoy your stay at Southern Reach!!! Paul & Maggie Swanson Keywords: Ocean Front Beach House

      A quiet beach getaway

We spent 3 nights at Southern Reach. Paul was great about giving us information needed for our stay and also things to do on the island. It’s a beautiful spot, the ocean view is breathtaking. The waves were too big for us to go into the ocean from the house, I’m not sure if it’s the time of year or if it’s always wavy but they were beautiful to watch. The pool is great to cool off and there is ample shade if you don’t love the sun. You can find lots of treasures walking along the beach and you can walk a fair distance. We really enjoyed our time in Brac, it feels almost untouched. You can hop in the water just about anywhere with a mask and snorkle and see some of the most beautiful fish and coral. We will definitely be back!

        Casual relax on the Brac

This is a casual ocean front place to relax. Great for families and people that love being outdoors. We enjoyed scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, exploring caves, hanging out on the back patio watching the sunrises and relaxing in the evening with a drink. It was just me and my wife so we just relaxed. Our biggest complaint was that there was not a good wine bottle opener for us. Can't tell you much about interior as we spent as much time outside, on back patio and by the pool as possible.

          Quiet, remote and clean getaway

We stayed here "off season", so can't speak for busier times ... but this little hideaway was exactly what we were looking for (and more): quiet, secluded/remote, clean and the kind of place that quickly, easily helps a traveler transition into blissed-out vacation mode. We rented a car (essential), provisioned up (the Market Place is $$$ -- hit up Billy's or Kirk market on the north side) and settled in easily. The house has all of the "stuff" we needed (kitchen/cookware, towels, comfy, clean beds and linens, good WiFi). The small pool was icing on the cake -- perfect for a refreshing dip after a long day of diving and saltwater swimmin'. You MUST bring sturdy swim booties/shoes if you plan any shore swimming/diving/snorkeling on Cayman Brac. The shoreline in front of the house (and around the island, in general) is very rocky and the approach into the water is very rough-edged and sharp. We were not able to access the water directly in front of the house b/c the seas were a little too rough and we were worried waves might slam us into the rocks. We headed to the north side for all diving/shore dives and snorkeling for this reason. Love, love, loved our stay here. Would recommend to anyone who appreciates adventure, privacy and remote locations (and doesn't mind the "effort" it takes to get there). THANK YOU for this little piece of heaven on Brac. :)

Beautiful location on the South shore

We had a great time here. It is a nice property with everything you would want for an island vacation.

            5/5 Excellent

Paul’s house on The Brac is beautiful. The view is amazing, and the new pool is awesome.

We look forward to visiting again.
