I have stayed at many other Travelodges with great success. This hotel was expensive (for what it was), dirty and the smell in the room (either from the cleaner, or otherwise) was so strong it gave me a wicked headache overnight. The room was small, the bathroom was barely cleaned (boogers on the tub, no stopper in the sink so you could see all the goop below as you brushed your teeth) and our room was above another room of partiers that went until 6am. I was super super disappointed about our stay here. I would never stay here again. Also there was some tall tale about not being able to apply our CAA discount because we'd booked on another site for the room (when in fact we booked direct on their website).
.An excellent place where you feel welcomed all the time.Staff are all very pleasant and helpful.
Had stayed at other Travelodges along travel route and they were clean and comfortable. This one was huge disappointment. First clue was banged up luggage carts in foyer. Hallways are like a college dorm with loud doors part way down each hall. Heard them banging shut each time a guest travelled hall. Mini fridge had to be moved across the room to plug it in. Bathtub in such poor condition left without using it. Would never stay there again. However, the young lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and helpful.
Last year we stay in the previous administration, we had problem but they were corrected promptly. This year Brooke the new manager did not impressed. Quality and service has gone down a lot. And is the same personel
All in all the hotel itself wasn't bad. It's just basic, with nothing to it that stands out. The staff were helpful and polite. However, when we went out to our vehicle the next morning, it had been broken into and about 1500.00 worth of cds and sunglasses stolen. Noticed a guy in a car with a handheld device in his possession sitting in his car perpendicular to our parking spot, which was the only spot left on the side of the hotel. The device was bigger than a cel phone, looked more like a gaming device. We locked the vehicle, as our friend had lent us his new Avalon, fully loaded! Fabulous vehicle for a road trip to Ottawa!. I went back and checked that the car was all locked up properly as I wasn't familiar with the car. The only thing I can think is that he hacked the signal from our key fog when we locked the vehicle. No damage, but lots missing as we had food in a cooler, gifts in the trunk for our friends in Ottawa, and my husbands $800.00 Jean Paul Gauthier sun glasses in the glovebox. Also, our friends' cd collection. Sucks! Reported it to the ThunderBay Police and the Travelodge staff were great. However, cancelled our reservation for the trip back and drove straight through 16 hours from Sault Ste. Marie, instead of stopping in Thunder Bay Again. Would never stop there again, not a safe city. Too bad, looked pretty with the lake there.
My partner and I booked the Travelodge for two nights for a weekend Tbay visit. We spent one night and cancelled our second night and moved to another hotel. The first room we tried smelled terrible, was dirty and nothing worked or was plugged in. The 2nd room at least didn't smell as bad. The bed spread had stains on it and hair between the sheets. The toilet didn't work and there was no hot water from the sink. We wouldn't even try the shower. The rooms at this hotel are very dated and there is clearly no pride being taken in the maintenance and cleaning.
This hotel is privately owned, and by speaking to other guests during our 2 night stay, and hearing others complaints during check out, it seems this hotel is aware of their current state of how disgusting this hotel is. Booked this hotel online and after 1 night we made a call to see if it would be possible to check out a day early without being charged for cancellation, we waited on hold forever without actually getting to speak with someone before 11am (check out time). The room upon arrival was a king suite, and last available room upon check in so changing rooms was not an option. The pull out couch had food and garbage underneath. Beside the king bed was a dried out old pepperoni stick. A toothpick. Also found in top of closet was a coffee stir stick. The bathroom sink leaked so in the morning there was a puddle on the dirty bathroom floor. The best though was taking a pillow off the king bed to put on the pull out, and finding a live centipede looking bug. The trim on the side of TV entertain unit was hanging off, and the bottom trim around the entry mirror was not pushed in all the way exposing the nails, possing a danger to our 1 year old. We were told by another unhappy guest that there is only one house keeper for the entire building and front staff seem aware of the problem. A guest was offered a $10 discount off her stay. This manager should be ashamed of this establishment, and should consider a major staff overhaul. Also pool was closed for maintenance but there was no notification of this until after check in.
Having read other reviews I wonder if I stayed at the same motel. We had no choice as other motels were full and wondered what sort of place this was. We were made very welcome by the helpful receptionist and found a very comfortable and spacious room. It is not particularly new but very clean and more than acceptable. There is a continental breakfast with a good choice of food, similar to what is found in many budget motels. Would happily stay here again.
My boyfriend and I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago.. I have never felt more ripped off before. We get to our room that with the "security" deposit costed us $210... it was the size of a closet, smelt like cigarettes, was just completely gross. Never again. Don't waste your money or your time. Also.. there was this giant hole in our door.
stayed for one night. 2 stars was for the location and breakfast. the staff was friendly and gave us great instructions on how to get to running paths in town. our room smelled of urine - very gross. the hotel is very very outdated and greatly over priced. do not stay here.
