This hotel was a better than average stop along our travels. We had a great room (check the exposed brick wall in my pictures!) and the staff was great. Jonathan checked us in and gave us some information about the city, where to eat, etc. Room & indoor pool area was clean, and bed was comfortable.
We stayed at the Travelodge Thunder Bay as we were driving across the country (moving to our new home in Whitehorse). We stay at a lot of nice hotels in Toronto and when we travel abroad, but so our expectations weren't high for Thunder Bay, but we were 100% impressed with this hotel room. The hotel itself was a bit dated, but everything was clean, staff was nice, and they had a pool (that was heated!). We had an upgraded room, but boy was it nice. Jonathan checked us in and was pleasant. He also gave us some local insight (where to eat, local beer to try, etc.). He helped make our quick stop in Thunder Bay that much better.
I was recently in Thunder Bay for medical treatments for my adopted son. We booked a room at this travel lodge on Memoial as I've stayed here before and was familiar with the area. I had stayed for one week (check in Monday and check out Friday) and made reservations for the following Monday. I had planned to stay here for the whole 6 weeks I am expected to be in Thunder Bay. When we arrived the following Monday I had rebooked for the week again. Only to wake up Tuesday morning being told my then by the housekeeper that we were not permitted to stay any longer and needed to vacate immediately. I went to the front desk to inquire what the problem was, the clerk informed me there was apparently damages to our room from the prior stay the week before. I was more confused as to why we were given the room when we arrived the day before. The clerk then informed me I would need to speak to a manager; so I requested this with the manager being in the back room. She would NOT come out to speak to me. I was firm in being told what damages we were being accused of. The clerk informed me the damages were "SMOKING in room" and there was ashes left in the sink. I could not believe this one bit. First of all I had my children with me and in Thunder Bay for chemo and radiation for one of them. Why on earth would I be smoking in the room?? I am a smoker which in fact the front desk clerks would see myself standing out front in -36 temperatures. if I was guilty of this I would have been fine but it was so far from the truth. Very disappointed and taken my business to Days Inn on golf links Road. Far more updated and the staff has been super awesome and helpful with our continued stay for the next 4 weeks.
The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. Continental breakfast is a plus. We stay there on all trips to Thunder Bay unless we are flying and have to leave our vehicle. It would be a bonus if we could leave our vehicle there and they had a shuttle to the airport.
I spent two nights here and enjoyed them both. I could not have asked for more from last minute accomodations. The room was much than I was expecting and the staff were very helpful in answering my questions about getting around tkwn. I recommend this hotel.
It's easy to find and is close to places to eat and shop. The rooms where nice and has a pool in the building. Breakfast had many options. Would stay again
I have stayed at many other Travelodges with great success. This hotel was expensive (for what it was), dirty and the smell in the room (either from the cleaner, or otherwise) was so strong it gave me a wicked headache overnight. The room was small, the bathroom was barely cleaned (boogers on the tub, no stopper in the sink so you could see all the goop below as you brushed your teeth) and our room was above another room of partiers that went until 6am. I was super super disappointed about our stay here. I would never stay here again. Also there was some tall tale about not being able to apply our CAA discount because we'd booked on another site for the room (when in fact we booked direct on their website).
.An excellent place where you feel welcomed all the time.Staff are all very pleasant and helpful.
Had stayed at other Travelodges along travel route and they were clean and comfortable. This one was huge disappointment. First clue was banged up luggage carts in foyer. Hallways are like a college dorm with loud doors part way down each hall. Heard them banging shut each time a guest travelled hall. Mini fridge had to be moved across the room to plug it in. Bathtub in such poor condition left without using it. Would never stay there again. However, the young lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and helpful.
Last year we stay in the previous administration, we had problem but they were corrected promptly. This year Brooke the new manager did not impressed. Quality and service has gone down a lot. And is the same personel
