Holiday Inn Leiden4.0 out of 5.0

the hotel is situated near the nice town of Leiden (not in center). the city is close to 'the hag' 'Amsterdam' 'Rotterdam' and more making it a good base to those traveling by car. the hotel is more like an american motel vibe. rooms surround a closed patio, and look either into the patio or ground floor point outside. Rooms are Ok with nothing special, we had two beds for the four of us and it was good. shower was OK although could be cleaner. in the patio there is a playroom for children which was great for the children ending the day. in addition there is a small closed pool which as well great for the children and was open till 22:00. there is a good buffet for evening for 25 euro per person, surprisingly children up to 12 years old don't need to pay. there is plenty to eat however drinks are extra. its not the cheapest option and not the most tasty but its a very good option in the hotel. The good: *great base to toor cities in the vicinity *very good for children *free parking The bad: *little old style *our room shower was not so clean - might be just by chance
Thoroughly impressed by the hotel layout and facilities (indoor swimming pool) which unfortunately we did not have time to use. Executive suite was well equipped with 2 double beds, safe, minibar, coffee maker and lots of power sockets! There was enough room for 2 cane chairs and table. Very friendly and helpful concierge who organized take away breakfast and taxi for us to go to Schipol airport about 20 mins away. Most enjoyable brief stay. Well done!
This hotel is just outside of Leiden's centre (about a 20 minute walk or by Number 43 bus from the bus station located outside Leiden's main railway station) and is a nicely laid out facility with swimming pool (indoor) and fitness facilities. Our main reason for returning to this base for a long weekend was to take in a trip to the Kuekenhoff Gardens on their springtime glory and also to enjoy the great evening buffets and expansive breakfast buffet selections the hotel's chef lays on for guests. We were not disappointed. If taking advantage of the evening buffets on the weekend ensure you leave room for dessert as the selections of mousses and apple pie laid on will test your willpower to the extreme should you try to resist them ... in my case I succumbed but took small portions to enable me to sample more than one of the creations without feeling too guilty. The same policy should be adopted with the starters and the main entree selections which will allow you to try out the amazing range the chef creates for your gastronomic enchantment. Staff in all sections of the hotel and especially in the restaurant are very helpful and friendly. The best place to enjoy your meal is if you are fortunate enough to secure one of the tables surrounding the central artificial pond area where as well as enjoying the food you can watch the koi swimming in the pool or the many turtles lazing on the rocks by the side of the pool who occasionally rouse themselved to go for a dip in the waters. They are even more amusing as they struggle to extricate themselves from the water back onto the rocks after their "work out"! This hotel is obviously very popular with families at the weekend and the youngsters enjoying themselves in the play areas can be a little noisy at times. If that prospect worries you them I suggest you make a request when making your reservation for one of the outside facing rooms.
Hi. I arrived at a good hotel. The executive bed, room is pretty good. But the internet wifi is really crap. I had the executive room. I don't really understand that hotels can get away with this. Just arrange a decent connection, and a lot of people will be happy.
Loads for children to do in the swimming pool and play room. The staff were helpful and I was not bothered about the proximity of my room to the dining area and the noise that other people have complained about. However what killed it for me was the absolutely extortionate prices charged for a buffet meal. It would have been cheaper to get in a taxi and head off to a decent restaurant in the town.
unusual restaurant under a glass roof with a pool to the side as you enter, with fish, also turtles basking on rocks under a small fountain. there are rooms on the floor above looking down into the restaurant from one side and on the other seems to be laid out as a garden for show only. the food was really excellent. staff very helpful. rooms were very well laid out the bathroom was roomy their is also a bar and swimming pool.plus plenty of parking at a price. there are several floors all with a lift.
We stayed here for three nights to visit local attractions. The hotel was very comfortable with an unusual layout. There was a glass roofed central atrium which housed the dining room. Very spacious and attractive with a fish pool in the centre. Lots of ferns and exotic plants. We had an executive room on the 3rd floor overlooking the carpark. Some rooms overlooked the atrium. The room was spacious and attractively furnished with a comfortable 6ft bed. The bathroom was spacious too. The shower was over the bath. I prefer a walk in shower. However it was a powerful shower. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They were willing to give advice about places to visit etc. The bus stop is a short walk away and the best way to get into Leiden city centre. We ate dinner once in the dining room. The food was buffet style at dinner and breakfast. Plenty of choice if a little bland. We also ate in the bar which had a limited menu. Plenty of parking which was free. All in all a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended.
Well, this one is hard.. On one hand, the staff is super. Everyone is so nice and helpful. We got everything we needed at the most professional and polite way. So, the hotel manager should be satisfied...(not necessarily from our experience of course, but generally speaking...) However, on the other hand. The hotel looks old and not updated. Like the hotels in the 80's.... also, I think the hotel structure is problematic...we got a room in the outside ring, but I can only imagine how troubling it is, if you het a room at the first floor in the inner ring, and hear every little noise in the dining area and/or the kids play room. Try it, and let us know...
The hotel is close to kukenhof (not sure how to spell it) to see all the tulips and flowers and maybe 20 min from downtown Amsterdam. The hotel itself is great with pool and kids play area. The restaurant was good and it was a buffet style which is great for us so my 2 year old can get food in front of him quick so he doesn't get antsy. I definitely recommend this hotel for families traveling to check out Amsterdam and the flowers at kukenhof
The hotel is centrally located for most of the tourist attractions in Holland and that's the best point about it. Ask for an outside room. The ones inside the hotel are very noisy because the atrium amplifies screaming kids and noisy guests in the restaurant. Internet is also intermittent and not reliable so no good for business people. Breakfast had a good selection but the cooked foods were luke warm so I ended up having cold cuts which were meant to be eaten cold.
