Super 8 Hotel Lachenaie Terrebonne2.0 out of 5.0

Easily the nicest Super 8 I've ever seen. All public areas in excellent condition, as was our room. Hot water took a little while, but once it showed up, it was hot. Housekeeping did a fine job. The front desk staff spoke much better English than my French. I slept well both nights. At least three restaurants within easy walking distance, with more just a short drive away. The breakfast buffet is kind of skimpy, but there's a McDonald's three minutes away for your petit dejeuner traditionell.
Property is average, showing wear and tear and needs updating. The drapery lining was held together with duct tape!!! Pictures available.
This hotel is now very busy with meetings during the daytime and evenings and they are also accommodating coach loads of school children. On several evenings when we returned to the hotel we struggled to find a parking space and once inside the hotel there were children running up and down the corridors and everywhere inside the hotel. We also came back one night and 10 adults were sat in the corridor outside our room drinking beer and generally being very noisy. We ended up having to get the hotel security to move them on. Other people who were just arriving at the hotel and trying to get to their rooms were having to step over them! We asked for a quiet room as I am a light sleeper and we were given a room on the 4th floor but it was right above the reception area. Even with the double glazed windows closed we were still awoken by the coaches pulling up and then running their engines for an hour or so before parking up for the night. This is the 4th time that we have stayed here but will not be going back!
A very clean room, relatively close to downtown Montreal which was approximately 20 minutes away. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall appearance and cleanliness of our room, which was very clean. unfortunately, we found very visible long black stray hairs, on the floor in the bathroom. if something so obvious was missed, makes you wonder what else was overlooked. Windows wind open which is great and good water pressure from the showers. We will choose this Hotel for future visits.
Finding decent pet-friendly accommodations when travelling long distances by car can be a challenge. Sometimes they are few and far between. Until now I've avoided Super 8, considering it a notch or two below. But the reviews, the photos, & the pets welcome policy of the property in Terrebonne changed my mind. Checking in was easy, & charming Veronica at the front desk seemed to go the extra step to make us feel welcome. The price was right, tho' the $20 (per pet) charge per day was higher than anywhere else we've stayed. The room was fine, compact and clean, with a small fridge & microwave, and a really comfy bed. It did have a smell, not overpowering, but nagging and unpleasant. This morning, when i went to breakfast (ok, but no eggs/meat), I stopped at the front desk to let them know the carpet in Room 109 could probably use a deep clean. The only person at the front desk (Stephanie) was on the phone. In fact she was on the phone for literally 15 minutes--there's a big clock in the lobby--without once acknowledging me. When she was finally off the phone, she was unpleasant and uninterested. The welcome I'd felt the day before was undone. A just-average hotel or motel can really distinguish itself with excellent customer service. Similarly, poor customer service can result in fewer customers. And maybe even a mediocre review in Trip Advisor.
I have stayed at this location several times a year since the day it opened and I have never been disappointed. My french is more than lousy and the staff has always done their best to help me. The rooms are a good size and clean. I travel a lot and this is one of the few places I actually look forward to...
I had a terrible night of sleep because I could hear and feel the person above me walking around.need soundproof. For the price I was charged very disappointing.
Worst experience i've ever had in a hotel. Staff is extremely rude and the corridors are filthy. Room was slightly better but the carpets smelled. Better off sleeping in your car at least you know it's clean. They have random doors in the rooms so you can hear EV-ER-Y-THING from the room next door. Really not worth it (even free).
For me, the bed was not comfortable. Otherwise, no complaints, and unlike so many bargain hotels, the internet was very good. That's a win.
All aspects went without any problems. Check in was quick. Room was ready and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and checkout was very quick and simple.
