Great location. De price deal is excellent. Much better than other Hotels in city center like San Jorge. This has big parking and on site restaurant, bar and pool. Wifi worked good. I will come back if I come for a night or 2.
I've been to a lot of hotel/motels all over the world ... you can't drink the water here, bilingual staff means one person on one shift, carpet from the 70s ... gross! I realize I'm not in the US but it's bad.
Once part of the Fiesta American chain of hotels, Best Western's Nekie Tepic is now a shadow of its former past. While it still looks like a world class hotel on the outside, it's after you've checked in that you realize why the room rate was so affordable. Decaying furniture, excruciatingly unstable wi-fi network, grunge ridden bathrooms, faulty air conditioning, unfriendly front desk receptionists, a cafeteria that looks like a makeshift affair and a parking lot that looks right out of a Friday The 13th horror movie. The spacious lobby and nice looking swimming pool at the center of the hotel are only a façade to make guests believe they got the best deal in town. WRONG! It seems Best Western could care less about keeping a certain standard in their hotels, and the owners of this particular branch seem uninterested in updating their investment. What's really sad is that, Nekie has the potential of being the city's best hotel: the premises are big, the rooms are also much bigger than other local hotels and the meeting rooms can easily hold a mid sized convention. Truth is, this hotel has remained virtually unchanged for the past 17 years and it's unlikely it will change for the better in the near future. Make a reservation ONLY if there's NO other choice. Otherwise, steer clear from this substandard Best Western branch!
We stayed here one night while on the road. We mainly stayed here because it had decent reviews. When we checked in the staff were very nice and helpful. Beware, as we found out the hard way that they have smoking and non-smoking rooms (but the staff at the front desk didn't ask which we wanted). We were given a smoking room that reeked of smoke (as mentioned by others, the carpets are old and dirty). I tried to open the window to air it out but it didn't work. The toilet was also running in this room. We asked to change rooms and they moved us from the third floor to the first floor. The room was very similar but with no smoke smell but we could hear the lobby's Christmas music in our room and the people eating in the restaurant. We also had NO HOT WATER and when I complained about this upon checking out the guy at the front desk just said that we should have had hot water (he responded as if we didn't know how to use the faucet). The pillows are also really bad quality -- they are hard and have big balls of stuffing piled up in them. I left feeling like we got ripped off by the high price and the bad quality. Beware!
The carpets are filthy and stained. The light switches don't all work. The tile and finish is not nice in the rooms. The toilet is broken and rigged with wire. There is no elevator to the second floor. I tried to cancel a stay I paid for in advance and was told it is against their policy to give refunds regardless of circumstance. I am leaving anyway and will deal with it.
From the moment you enter the beautiful lobby the staff, especially Gabriel, go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one! Attention to detail spans from the incredible breakfast buffet to the super clean rooms. There is even that rarest of Mexican amenities, a bathtub! I highly recommend this place!!
Checked in late on a Tuesday night. Asked for a king bed. No problem. The room was fine, very clean. Flat screen TV. Bed was fine. The temperature outside was very hot. Found the remote control for the air conditioner a bit difficult to understand. Tried to get a minimum of cool air -- but finally settled on the heat setting at a minimum and that seemed to work. I was a bit concerned with the parking as the lot did not seem well-lit. But I was assured that it was watched all night. Had no problem. Restaurant was good and reasonably priced. In the morning, we would recommend asking for an omelet which is freshly made in front of you. If coming from the north, it is good to know that the hotel is near the south end of the business route for highway 15 (not on the cuota route). You need to make a left turn AFTER passing the hotel. Left turns are made in the lateral lanes on the far right of the highway. I learned this the hard way after making an iiiegal left BEFORE the hotel and nearly being hit by a big truck coming straight at me in the lateral lanes on the opposite side.
Ne Kie is a nice hotel. Employees at the front desk are quite friendly, main areas look clean and well maintained, internet speed is good for mexican standards and restaurant's food and service are good. Some things may be improved: - First floor rooms are extremely dark and the carpet looks dated. - Ambient music is played way to loud on the hallways and filters into the room (at least on the first room of the first floor) - Although staff is friendly, they need to improve standards. I asked for scissors and/or help to break the airport security badges and they promised they would be there in 5 minutes and never appeared. The next morning at 5:00 AM and in a hurry I saw there were no towels on my bathroom. I couldn't wait so have to dry myself with bed's sheets.
This hotel has beautiful grounds & a well kept pool, but once you get inside the rooms, beware. The rug was filthy and, obviously, hadn't been vacuumed in weeks! Had not one pillow on my bed when I checked in. No elevator in the building and pigeons roosting on my balcony. The staff was wonderful...very friendly & accommodating.
We booked this hotel because Tepic was on our way back to Barra de Navidad from El Fuerte. We always stay at Best Western Hotels whenever possible. This is a beautiful five star hotel, with a lovely courtyard and pools. Our room was adjacent to the pool area and was first class. The food in the dining room was excellent (we had dinner and breakfast there). Staff was friendly, and several of them spoke English. We will definitely stay there again.
