Stayed in a Riu before and so had high expectations, this hotel didn't disappoint! A really lovely hotel and all areas extremely clean. The maids did a fantastic job daily and our room was always immaculate upon return. Food - breakfast had a huge variety. Omelette station, pancake station, cooked breakfast (but no proper sausages - hot dog ones) cold items, cereals, lots of different breads and pastries. It was great. No complaints at all. Dinner at night was again really good quality. It would have been nice to have more themed evenings but overall can't complain. Pool area. Two large pools with a bar. Generous measures given too and complimentary nuts which was a nice touch. Plenty of sun loungers but the whole resort seemed quiet (maybe the time of year). Private beach area. Further down there is a little section just for Rius guests by the beach. Again this is a lovely area. Nice and quiet. HOWEVER don't order a sandwich from the pool bar down here. We were expecting a freshly made sandwich, not a pre packed sandwich with soggy bread. Had better quality at the petrol station. Really not what I expected from a Riu given the quality of everything else and the price of them. You could order food from the main restaurant at lunch time though which looked much better. Spa/gym - not really a gym. Didn't have any free weights. Just a selection of random machines. Both me and my boyfriend had a massage and thoroughly enjoyed it. Used the steam room and jacuzzi afterwards too. Very small but only us in there so didn't matter. Nice facilities with delightful staff. Location - a really nice area. Didn't eat out any night so can't comment on restaurants around the hotel but they all looked quite up-market. 15 minute walk to nearest lively section for younger guests. La Fanabe. The whole of the resort seemed quiet. Maybe just due to the time of year. Even las Americas was quiet and we visited on a Friday night. Entertainment - didn't see much as we went out. More aimed at older guests. Enjoyed listening to the singers though before heading out. It really is a lovely hotel and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Especially the catering staff who work in the restaurants and bars. They can't do enough for you. My one main complaint which I really feel the hotel should amend. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Yes breakfast is included but if (like me) you want a cup of tea on the balcony before getting ready for breakfast, or if you head out to do an excursion before breakfast opens, there's no option for a hot drink. I've never stayed in a hotel which didn't have tea/coffee in the room? Even 2* accommodation offers this! Would return to hotel and recommend to friends.
Our second visit, first the good, superb buffet food at breakfast and evening meal, brilliant room over pool with sea view (pay the extra, worth it) great friendly staff, the hotel and rooms are kept immaculately clean. Now not so good,I mentioned before still the same,no mini bar in room you have to ring down for any drinks to be delivered to room,no tea making facilities in room (They have definetly got to look at this) .The towels are really thin need a better quality for a four star hotel. If you are old or infirm there are loads of steep steps from the hotel to the seafront. We also felt the drinks in the bar Cocktails etc were expensive, but we are not really big drinkers so did not bother us.Adults only, not many British, overall very good ,would return
Returned a few days ago from a second visit to Riu Arecas. Check in is very organised and the welcome drink provided is a nice touch. Rooms are very spacious, beds comfortable and the air conditioning very effective. They are also very clean. The variety of food both at Breakfast and Evening Meal is excellent with plenty of choice. Again, all areas are kept immaculate and the fresh flowers in the public areas are lovely. All Management and Staff throughout the Hotel work very hard, are very friendly and are to be commended. Wi fi is also provided free of charge and this worked very well. Pool areas are well looked after, there are plenty of sun beds, providing shade or sun, and pool towels are changed whenever you choose. Could not fault this Hotel at all, would certainly recommend, and hope to return.
Previous reviews of this hotel say it all. Food is excellent with an amazing choice - something for everyone. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only one small point was the floor in our room was not swept for at least a week nor was it dusted for that length of time either. I ended up dusting it a couple of times. However the floor in the shower room was done on a daily basis. As mentioned this was a small point as everything else was excellent and would definitely return to this hotel. There is a supermarket across from the hotel which I would advise not to use as it is rather expensive in fact a bit of a rip off. If you walk up to the main road from the hotel and turn left, walk along the road and take second left you will come to some lovely little shops and in there you will find a supermarket which is much cheaper than the one across from the hotel.
Wanted a last minute holiday and advised this place was ideal for our needs. Arriving at this hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Friendly staff greeted us and the standard of helpfulness , professionalism continued throughout our stay. Room was excellent and of a very high standard. Cleanliness was very high too. The restaurants were smart with quality , tasty food presented very well.Main restaurant was self service but I can highly recommend the Espanol as a treat. With 3 pools to use and the whole hotel being ADULTS ONLY I would highly recommend this hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Riu Arecas and hope to return one day. I have read the extensive and positive reviews by others eg Terry C, Roy P and Marylyn C and can confirm their accuracy. Just a few extra points. There is a largish fridge in the room which you can fill yourself from the 2 nearby supermarkets or get the hotel to supply a mini-bar. There is a 3rd pool / lounging area which is separate from the hotel and down by the sea front. There are indeed steps between the hotel and beach / promenade / 3rd pool area. 76 of them – we counted! If this is a problem, then the beach promenade can be accessed via a path which runs along the side of the hotel and is reached from the front entrance. The hotel is at the north west end of the 14km coastal promenade which links all the resorts. If you wish to sample the nightlife you will be faced with a longish bus/taxi ride. The local bus service links the nearby village of La Caleta via the main resorts to Costa Silentcio. To get anywhere else by bus you will need to change at Fanabe, Las Americas or Los Cristianos.
Stayed for two weeks, where do I start, the food was excellent I would give it 5* ,the rooms were excellent superbly clean and quiet.Whilst it was completely full the staff did a marvellous job in seeing to everyone,it was a very good mix of nationalities all people we met were very polite and friendly, whilst our hotel was at the rear of its 5* sister hotel the palace we found they complemented each other as we could use the palace at will, the sun beds were quite close together but not to the detriment of people, the entertainment was very good and the resident trio were excellent,it was an adult only hotel ,the first we had ever been to ,I can now understand the requirement of such places,no noisy unruly kids with food spilt on the floor, this hotel is credit to the Riu group,we have stayed many times with Riu hotels and this one is as good as any,all the staff from cleaners to management are truly Top Riu class,it will be very difficult for my wife and I to use another hotel group when we feel so well assured as we are with Riu
This was our second stay at this hotel and it was just as good as before.Wonderful welcome with a drink and the checkin is speedy and well managed with plenty of staff on duty whatever the time of day. The food is superb and the new partitioning in the dining room adds to the atmosphere, the staff speak several languages, are always helpful and efficient, and happy! hats off to the restaurant manager! Cleanliness is obviously a major priority as the hotel is spotless, the staff are lovely and take great care to ensure that they acknowledge you. Adequate staffing is often an issue in some hotels but not here, always plenty on duty in all the key areas. Best of all, no issues over sun beds, there are so many surrounding the two pools you can take your pick, we had no problem at any time and service from the snack bar for drinks is very good.Training I think plays a big part of this hotels management. There is a resident band and on some nights additional acts which were very good, some we had not seen before which made a refreshing change. The room and balcony were lovely overlooking the pool, there is no tea making facility in the room though. The Hotel Director and her No 2 do not hide away either, they can be seen in and around the hotel at varying times of the day , I found their approach refreshing. One evening an elderly gentleman was poorly and he was treated with such compassion and care by the hotel staff and that goes along way for me. We will return, nothing could better this adults only hotel for us.
We visited the Rui Arecas Hotel, Tenerife last week ( over the Easter week end and had a fabulous week at the hotel. It is always a worry when booking a hotel when you have no reference point and it can be a big gamble. This is where TripAdvisor and the like come into their own, we booked the hotel entirely on the reports we read on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed. We traveled with Thompson Holidays and the whole trip went very smoothly indeed. We only had one negative and that was the view from our room which overlooked a side Road and some building work that was taking place at the time. We would have preferred a pool view room, however the hotel was so good in every other way the lack of a nice view from the room did not dent the experience in the slightest and to be truthful we spent very little time in the room during daylight hours. The positives: The hotel was very modern but with traditional rooms and bathrooms. The beds were large, we had two 2 four foot wide beds pressed along side each other making a massive bed area. We slept very well and found the beds very comfortable. The air con worked well and kept the room at a very nice temperature. The restaurant was very nice and typical of such large hotels, however two plus points 1 the chairs all had rubber feet which prevented that horrible noise that chairs make when people scrape them back from the table on hard floors. This might sound like a strange remark to make but we have been in hotels where you can't hear anything but the scraping of chairs. Plus point 2 there are no children( adults only hotel) to scrape the chairs and run riot in the dining room. We were able to eat outside on the terrace every night which was a real bonus for us. Food is very personal and subjective, however we really enjoyed the food served in the buffet restaurant, there was always a huge choice and quite seriously our biggest problem was trying to keep the food intake to a reasonable level, we failed every night. Every dish was cooked and served to a very high standard and even towards the end of service(9.30pm) the staff were still bringing out new dishes to replace the depleted ones. Breakfast was as good as dinner with a huge choice and all cooked and presented to a very stylish and high standard. Again we were lucky enough to take breakfast on the terrace each morning in the wonderful Tenerife sunshine. The hotel has a small table service restaurant which guests can book at no extra charge, we did this one evening and enjoyed being waited on for a change from the buffet, however in many ways the buffet was the better option and the food was certainly as good. The pool area is laid out around two large oblong pools with plenty of sun beds and a lovely pool bar for coffee, beer and ices. All very civilised and just what is needed after a strenuous couple of hours on the sun beds. The hotel is set back from the beach by about 200 mts this was not a problem for us but it did reduce the sea views somewhat. We had never been to Tenerife before and found the Adeje area suited us very well, it is much quieter and smaller than the much larger resorts a few kms or so further along the coast and there are some lovely restaurants and bars all long the seafront. We plan to return and will probably stay at the Rui Arecas. Forgot to mention the hotel staff.... they were great and could not have been more friendly of helpful. We hope you find this report useful in choosing a hotel in Tenerife.
