Very good hotel, excellent location with great views and very handy to walk either into Los Gignes of Poerte de santiargo, about 20 mins either way along the cliff top Very large hotel, great dining area plenty of room to sunbath and great pools. Rooms maybe in need of upgrading but still comfortable and clean, maids excellent left room spotless every day

Very disappointed with the amount of work going on pool closed builders replacing rails with glass panels above where people were sunbathing think they should have closed down and got it done food was ok but was alarmed when chap cooking raw chicken used the same tools to serve cook chicken( big no no )when i told the manageress about this she said it will be sorted and when we arrived for our next night alarmed to see still happening very bad problem with flies all over the food very off putting this hotel has amazing views without a doubt but should only be classed 3star

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, great staff, location and facilities. Restaurant food is varied and well presented, with most dietary requirement catered for. Rooms are clean and well proportioned, with maid service daily. There is work going on around the pool deck but this did not impact on guests swimming or sunbathing,

You know what makes this place special aside from the outstandingly beautiful location? It ' s the exceptional staff. OK so the rooms need a make-over but it's an on-going process in a hotel with over 200 staff open 365 days a year. All the staff from reception to room servicing and the kitchen and restaurant staff could not be more friendly or helpful. The place is spotless inside and out. I'm fortunate enough to have stayed throughout November so had a chance to see day in and day our how hard everyone here works to make the place so special. I've met many people who come twice or more a year and have for decades, literally, and wouldn't go anywhere else. The restaurant food is fantastic and especially given the numbers they cater for. There is abundant choice for veggies, vegans and meat-eaters with much of it cooked freshly in front of you like your favourite fried eggs or omelette in the morning or grilled fish, squid or octopus for supper. Loads of fresh fruit of course. I'm staying on half-board so I have a good breakfast and then dinner. I could have lunch instead. It is more than enough food so I go to the adequate gym most days too. Sampled the Spa foot massage - highly recommended. The other treatments at the Spa all rated highly by others I've met. The Animation team work their socks off to provide entertainment at night and there are loads of activities from Aqua Gym to Aqua Cycling to Tai Chi when you feel the urge to go vertical from your subbed. Yes, one of the pools is shut for repairs but there are two other adult pools plus kids' pool and jacuzzi. Plus the sea a few mins walk away. They have to do the work sometime and no time is ever the best time. More than enough sun beds for all - no need to get your towel down early though it amuses me to watch many bag their sun beds despite notices saying it's not permitted. OK. Said more than enough but everyone who works here so deserves it. If you come and stay you are in for a treat. Last point - unable to click on service, value and sleep quality below which is not working. They all get five stars from me. The pillows are soooo comfy.

For a first stay in a hotel it was a pleasant experience. Location is fantastic- on the sea front. Staff on the whole are helpful and friendly. Rooms/decor could do with updating. Food was basic but good considering the number of people that were catered for. One minor gripe was the amount of maintenance work going on - but suppose it has to be done sometime.

Brilliant holiday. Staff helpful and friendly , entertainment team really fantastic.we were half board - food was plentiful and great quality. Sea views spectacular .Room comfortable although furniture a bit worn.

Hi I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel....but overall had a relaxing break.....as I only stayed for 4 nights did not get much time to do excursions or go anywhere far.....as soon as i arrived i told reception in advance to go junior suite with hot tub for the first two nights....it was worth it....brilliant and more spacious bed very comfortable and of course the hot tub and the views absolute breathtaking. then the last two nights went to supreme double bed which the beds seemed hard...but not bad.....BREAKFAST WAS BRILLIANT but LUNCH and DINNER seemed the same and the fly's sitting on the food was a put off, my wife was vegetarian and their was not much choice especially dinner time.....A special thanks to Jonathan who took us to the rooms and was extremely helpful. SPA was ebjoyable....we went to only one entertainment and that was entertaining.....Overall would recommend this hotel...but something near the sandy beach would be nice!

An excellent hotel with superior service. An annoyance during our stay was that the bathroom had a persistent odour associated with poor bath and sink water drainage. The hotel location is very good but the downside is to be very aware of pick-pockets preying on guests just outside the hotel entrance and further into adjacent shops and bars. They are a menace and very capable of ruining your holiday.

We have experienced our first and last visit to this Hotel last week. Having stayed at the Barcelo Montecastillo some years ago and experienced a fabulous holiday throughout, we thought we would could trust Barcelo to do it again! How disappointed were we? No one (either Hotel or Travel Agent) at anytime informed us that the Hotel is under renovation. The rooms and bathrooms are very tired. Our fridge door was hanging off when we arrived and on our third day the toilet broke where we had to wait overnight for it to be repaired. The (allegedly) infinity pool is under construction and around the hotel various rooms with balcony were having the railings sawn off and replaced with glass panels. All this was going on when you want to relax around the pool and soak up the sun in a quiet setting, instead there was dust and dirt everywhere, constant noise from drilling hammering etc from early morning. The buffet was lacking in variety and hot food not well cooked. Uncooked salmon is a cause for concern!! The only time we saw an effort to clean and tidy the place up was when the General Manager, Julio was in attendance. From chatting with other guests, there were a lot of people of the same opinion, even those that have frequented this same hotel, year on year. We will not be visiting this hotel again, and would definitely not recommend it to family or friends. Barcelo need to get their act together as this establishment should only have a 2* rating.

Hotel caters for over 1000 guests and is very busy. Restaurant food excellent and large variety. We experienced several maintenance failures. Dud light bulb in bedroom on arrival, toilet flushing problems which were not resolved, one night total lack of power in bedroom (which was fixed speedily). Bed very comfortable. Difficulties with reception response to requests for repair and assistance. Dangerously slippery surface around pool and apparently only heated on 7th day of stay. Chose the hotel because of access to heated pool! Much building work ongoing around hotel. I would recommend this hotel but it needs to address various problems.
