We stayed here for a weekend and it was adequate for what we needed. Very basic, no SKY TV and a weekend full of international sport so had no choice but to travel into town to pubs to watch games which wasnt ok for everyone. Would have been much easier had they had SKYTV there for watching the games. Didn't bother with the wifi after other reviews, free amount was very limited. Bed was comfortable, pillows nice and it was clean which is really what matters at the end of the day I guess. Was worried after some other reviews it may not be clean but it was. The shower was appalling, no pressure and a simple thing like no shelf in the shower meant soap and things on the shower floor. I also thought salt & pepper are usually in motel rooms but there wasnt anything extra like this other than tea and coffee. Little UHT milk pottles so we went out and bought our own but I realise that is personal taste. A shame the curtains were missing hooks and hanging off the rails which made the rooms look sad. Chair in lounge had the bottom hanging down. There were no pictures but one in the lounge which left the cottage feeling very bland for what could be a cute cottage. Grounds & gardens were looking nice. Certainly wouldnt go there for anything special but ok if visiting family and need extra beds. Expensive for what you actually get.
We had a one-bedroom unit. It was very spacious and set in lovely grounds. The bedroom was nice and sunny first thing in the morning, which was wonderful on a cold June day. All the necessary amenities were provided and the towels and sheets were very nice quality and the unit was clean. The heating was adequate My only negative comment would be the lack of artwork. A picture in the lounge would have taken some of the blandness away! But not a major. All in all a nice place to stay and handy to town.
Met basic requirements for a one night stop over on our way to Auckland. Was very happy with how clean it and the price. Negatives - the way the rooms are designed they're split by an internal door and each time the neighbours got up in the night the light shone through to our room. Was also a lot of noise that came through the walls from next door.
Great place so close to the Falls and Taupo!!! I loved it. Each unit is independent of the other (two places hooked together)!!! It was so quiet and peaceful to sit out on the porch at night and have a great glass of wine!!!! I loved this place... also the girl working the desk was extremely helpful in helping me decide the best places to visit and eat!!!!! I love this place!!!!
The rooms are clean while being a little tiny. The rooms were serviced everyday, clean towels etc. Like all places there are little things that need attention but overall value for money. It is a great place to have a special celebration as you can stay enjoy the venue, food was ok. We were welcomed whe we arrived everything was ready to go rooms were ready and I have to say the service from the staffs point of view was excellent.
At first I was really impressed as the one bedroom villa is extremely spacious for only 135 a night. The grounds are well maintained and the little carport outside the villa is great to keep the car under cover. The decor is tired and a bit 80s but everything worked fine. Filling up the bath uses most of the hot water. Sat down on the couch which was comfy but when I put my hand down I felt cobwebs.., Left dinner plates on the bench and in the morning the whole bunch was infested with ants!!! Gross Pillowcase didn't seem to have been washed as it smelled like perfume... Space itself is great but cleanliness could obviously be better
Spacious and clean. Large comfy beds with uncomfortable pillows. Beautiful grounds. Feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle without being far away at all. Toilet leaked loudly but otherwise was quite pleasant
The setting for the wedding was very beautiful and wonderfully maintained, however the same can not be said for the accommodation. I last visited this resort about 15 years ago and I do not think the décor in the accommodation villas has been updated since then. The carpets were absolutely disgusting - stained and well past their use-by date. The light in the bathroom did not work. The toilet ran constantly. There were very limited amenities in the kitchen and no rubbish bin. I think NZD$260 for one night was outrageously expensive, considering how dowdy and grubby the villa presented. We will not be staying here again.
It is perhaps my fault that I did not research Huka Falls Resort more carefully. I had not appreciated that it is a conference and wedding venue with accommodation in the grounds. Although I had seen reference to an old church, I thought it was one locally nearby. From the photos I saw on the site I used, I had imagined a few historic looking cottages overlooking vineyards. However, our two bedroomed place was one of many. My responsibility. We stayed three nights. On the up side, the domestic staff were very friendly indeed, helpful and offered service every day, clean towels etc., The villa was certainly clean and had an unexpected spa bath. The car port was appreciated too, especially for unloading/loading in the rain we had.The grounds around the villas were very well kept and the complex was very quite. We appreciated the interior decor and style was to give an old feel. (Some peeling wallpaper.) The slight negatives were that the villa felt rather sparse. Minimum furniture in the lounge, absolutely no extras to give a homely feel. No cushions for example as per resort's photo. One low two seater sofa, two bucket chairs in a different colour and fabric. The deck wrapped around two sides of the lounge and it would have been lovely to sit out there with glass of wine. No outdoor furniture. The pool, nice to have, but no poolside extras such as loungers to relax. The reception staff were pleasant but a small issue/request to them was not dealt with during our stay. I have left the worst comment until last. The fitted carpet was dreadful....dirty, stained and actually worn through in two places. Not a good look. Overall, I felt the price we paid would have guaranteed a little more, at least a clean carpet. I think the business is more focused on the conference/reception venue side of things and providing an overnight stay for guests rather than providing relaxing holiday accommodation.
We are staying here to 2 nights : 2 nights too many. Reception staff not helpful or friendly. I requested a laundry key : I was told it wasn't available because they had all been given out. The room : what can I say ! I think a caravan has more room. We think that the little house has been divided into 1/3 2/3's to get extra room. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word of our neighbors. You can tell it's been altered to accommodate extra rooms. There is even a whole where a light switch had been : it's not even patched up . Just terrible ! They are cashing in on location !
