A lovely place to stay. Very relaxing and peaceful. Beautiful views and excellent food and wine. The staff were approachable, friendly and helpful. This was a over night staff and the hotel was busy and they found us s room. We had a lovely time socialising.
fabulous staff fabulous stay. Place was clean and tidy. Very quiet would of loved to stay longer. Bed was really comfy. the staff were helpful and friendly. Would of liked to stay and try the restaurant out or stay for breakfast. the location was great with a fabulous veiw
This hotel is good overall. Loved that due to our previously booked room being renovated at the time, we were upgraded to a better room. Loved the heated bathroom floors. On one night had bad experience of loud neighbours on one side and loud intoxicated people in function downstairs who carried on partying till wee hours.
Overall the Hilton is a nice hotel with great outdoor pool and spa area. The rooms are large and reasonably well appointed. My only unhappiness was that we were tired after tramping all day and wanted to have takeaways in our room (as the room service menu is a bit limited and was used the night before). On asking for two plates and knives and forks for the room we were told at reception that they didn't think that would be possible and that we would have to try to negotiate with the restaurant. Where is the customer service guys - you need to lift your game!!!!!
Our Lakeview room booked on Expedia was not honoured by Hilton. Wanted an extra $169 to upgrade to a Lakeview room. No assistance with luggage. Plenty of other places to stay that are right on the lake.
Hilton Taupo is well located to access the town center (not walking distance though) and is well positioned as a point to get around the Taupo area. Very comfortable rooms and great amenities. NIce restaurant on site.
Absolutely fabulous stay. Only 3 nights and that was the bad part. Staff very friendly and so helpful. Liam was fantastic! Beautiful spacious apartment room. Fantastic view of the lake on our balcony. We are diamond members and travel all over the world and this is one of the best Hilton hotels if not the best so far! Way to short of a stay but we plan on returning. Not so much sight seeing next time but relaxing in this beautiful hotel. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
The staff did an excellent job. Management, however, is deeply disappointing in this hotel. It needs to give some serious thought to prioritizing guests over expediency. Builders started at 7 am. A builder's working hours are not more important than guests' comfort. Investment in suitable internet access is essential - the wifi is abysmal. Apple users be sure to bring hotspot capability. If you have mobility challenges, be aware of access around the hotel - it is poor. Many steps and changes in level. There is no point in accessible rooms if other facilities are unable to be accessed equally easily. Limited if any internal access - you will be in all sorts of weather to get to reception, breakfast or conference facilities.
Stayed just one night at the Hilton Lake Taupo. Fast and efficient check-in, free parking and unlimited internet access. Our room was spacious and clean - however it seemed to be missing a toilet brush! :-/ Breakfast was excellent with many options cooked to order in addition to a large buffet style spread with eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries, fruits, yoghurt, cereals and smoothie shots just to name a few! Hotel amenities included a pool, spa and gym as well as turn-down service. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was in good condition despite undergoing renovations to their conference centre which did not affect our stay at all - there was no noise from these renovations. Definitely would stay again!
Our plan was to stay at the Hilton for four nights while we toured Tongariro National Park, local attractions and Rotorua. We arrived at the hotel after a very full day. The hotel system wouldn't accept my credit card. After about 45 minutes of going back and forth with Hilton and Citicards, I gave up and paid with a debit card. The room they gave us was on the ground floor at the far end of the complex. The "mountain view" was really no view at all. After being put through the credit card hassle I complained to the concierge about the room. For a modest up-charge they put us in a top floor lake view one BR apartment. The total cost was $215 USD per day. I went from grumbling to smiling. We were in the new wing of the hotel. The suite was very modern and spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, large dining area and lounge area in addition to a large en-suite bedroom. There was a deck overlooking the lake. The clothes washer and dryer in the room was very convenient. Unfortunately for us, it was overcast all four days that we were there so we never got to see the views of Mt. Ruapehu, Mt. Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom) and Mt. Tongariro from our room. On a clear day, the views of the snow-capped volcanoes would have been absolutely breath taking. I guess I can't blame Hilton for the weather. The Maori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa which means "land of the great white cloud." That certainly applied during our visit. We were so busy with area adventures that, with the exception of getting a flat white from room service each morning, we really didn't use the hotel facilities at all. We did cancel a number of local restaurant reservations to eat take-out food in the suite because, by the end of the day, we were pretty tired. The nights were quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Each morning we awoke refreshed and ready for new adventures. We had a nice big television and a couple of large comfortable sofas. Before our trip we bought a Lightning to HDMI cable so we could use the free hotel WiFi to stream movies and some of our favorite American television programs. It was nice after a full day of touring to relax in front of the television with dinner and a really good and surprisingly affordable bottle of New Zealand wine. The extra money we spent on the suite upgrade we more than made up on from money we saved by eating in. I think I read somewhere that the WiFi The only criticism I have about the property is that the open parking (you can pay $15 extra to park in the garage beneath the hotel) is at the bottom of a hill and the climb up to the hotel from the parking area is a pain. The staff was helpful and courteous although a little over-extended. I suspect this is a common problem in October before the hotels are fully staffed for the prime season. The construction going on in the old wing of the hotel was only a problem to the extent that a number of the open parking spaces nearest the hotel were often taken up by contractor vehicles.
