The staff here are friendly and proactive. When the front desk manager learned that we were leaving before their breakfast started, he asked if he could prepare us to-go breakfasts. I have never had hotel staff offer that before. They also helped with directions to nearby restaurants and malls and called a taxi for us. The room was comfortable and clean. This is perhaps our best Asian hotel experience yet!
The room is very functional and clean. Great location as it is near the bus stop for downtown Taipei. Took the bus and the fare was only TWD$65 per person. I got a welcome beer as a priority member and we had a great night sleep on the comfortable bed. The breakfast was quite adequate with bread, cereal, sausages, vegetables, porridge and the usual beverages and fruits. The taxi fare from the Taoyuan airport to this hotel is YWD$475 and it took only 20 minutes. The airport now has a direct train station to downtown Taipei for only TWD$130. We were lucky to get a 50% discount as it was given as an incentive for the first month of running that ended a few days ago. The train ride was about 40 minutes and should be shorter as they get more efficient. So more options now for travellers but this hotel still offers great value, service and convenience in terms of 20 minutes from airport by taxi. The checkout time is a firm 12pm unless one wants to pay extra for a late checkout.
We stayed here for a night while waiting for a connecting flight and were reasonable impressed. The hotel was clean and the staff were all very friendly. Although the hotel isn't too close to the airport it was an interesting area to stay around.
If you have an early flight from Taipei then this is a good location and a good price. 20 minutes by taxi to Taoyuan Airport which is better than 1 hour from Taipei. The hotel itself is small but clean and helpful staff. Could do with a little modernising but as it is now is quite acceptable.
Hotels in Taiwan can be very pricey but the Holiday Inn Express Taoyuan delivers a reliable and clean experience for a reasonable price. For those on a stop over or over-nighting in Taoyuan before and early morning flight, expect a 15 minute taxi ride or more. For non-Chinese speakers, ensure that you have the hotel address to hand your driver. Taxi's from the hotel to the airport or other locations can be arranged by the friendly English speaking staff at no charge. Rooms are clean and there are shopping and dinning options within walking distance to include fast food, night market, local fare, and a Carre Four. Breakfast is a mix of Taiwanese and Western (although the Western is adapted for Chinese tastes) and coffee is available. For IHG Rewards Club members the staff will happily upgrade Platinum or Spire Members if room is available and if you are cashing in points this Hotel is a bargain at only 10,000 points at the time of this review. All in all a real value and an attentive and professional staff. The distance from the airport is forgivable due to the competitive price and reliability of an international brand.
The Holiday Inn Express provides excellent value and is accessible to many of the sights in Greater Taipei. The hotel is not near tourist sites. Intrepid travelers can get a bus that will take them to and rm the Taipei Main Station within 100 yards of the hotel. The hotel provided a free taxi shuttle to the Jingan station on the Taipei MRT line. Buy an easy card for use on MRT, buses and many attractions. The rooms are adequate and the breakfasts are quite good. If one is spending much time out of the hotel then this foots the bill nicely. If you are a tourist who relies on group tours then the location of this hotel might be off putting.
"Taoyuan" causes the confusion, but it's not airport area hotel. Access from the airport is not too bad, 30-40 mins by local bus (# 5059, 1-2 trip per hour, last trip from airport around 10pm), direct connection from hotel. You can find the hotel on the left side from the bus from airport, so not difficult to reach, however there's limited announcement in English in local bus, and to use the local bus with large bags might be challenging. Not many airport hotel around Taoyuan airport, so might be the choice if you do transit only, you can left your bags at the airport, but you need to care of service hours of them (I'm afraid not 24hrs). Hotel room configuration are slightly strange, room type & size varies, my room was clean and nice with bathtub, but most rooms would be shower only, I think. Breakfast were available on the 1st floor next to the reception (like general HI Express style) and 2nd floor banquet space from 6:30 to 10:00, I was not sure the day of occupancy and what's the difference, but it's not the battlefield as I experienced in HI express Shanghai. Access to Taipei City center is well, direct service to Taipei station by 1816 local bus, it runs frequently day time (every 15-20 mins) and trip around 30-40 mins,
Stayed a night between flights in Asia. The staff was extremely accommodating and the hotel is a great value overall. It is a bit of a distance from the airport and will cost roughly $28-$30 for round trip taxi, if you arrive too late or early to take the public bus.
Due to an early flight the next day, my family and I chose this hotel for convenience as it is within 15-20 min car ride to the airport. I noticed during my one night stay that it appears to be a highly popular hotel with tour groups. I checked in in late afternoon and it was unfortunate that their elevator was out of service and being repaired. Our rooms were on the 6th floor and I applaud the staff for assisting with carrying up our heavy luggage six flights up! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Basic toiletries were provided. For dinner, we chose to dine at a nearby eatery instead of in the hotel. There are a few places just across the street. Since I had to depart before breakfast began the next day, the front desk staff had provided boxed breakfast to go. How nice! My parents who had a later departure was able to take advantage of the breakfast. They told me that it was really good. Our interactions with the hotel staff were very positive. If you are looking for a place to stay for a night to be near the airport, this fits the bill.
Stayed here just one night. Uber ride from airport was about 25 minutes. Hotel is modern, room had an amazing view of the city through huge wrap-around windows, and hotel staff spoke English and were very friendly. Room was clean and modern. Breakfast for HI priority club members was ok. Uber wasn't available for return trip to airport, but plenty of cabs nearby. Although many advertise that they take credit cards, mine didn't, but the driver, who did not speak English, called someone to figure out exchange rate, so he took US dollars.
