Check in was fine but everything else after that was horrible. The rooms are old and not updated. The comforters were dirty and the mattresses need to be replaced. There was a party in the room above us. I finally called the front desk at 3 am and his response was "as long as there in not a domestic dispute going on there was nothing he could do. I asked him to move me and he said he couldn't do that. I have never been to a hotel where a quiet time was not enforced. I will not return to this hotel.

Check in was pleasant with the clerk being very helpful and informative. The overall appearance of hotel is dated, could use an update. Room we were put up in was older, dated, and had a stale smell to it. But it was clean and comfortable. Hot tub was great on a cool spring night!

Arrived about 7pm and was told they did not have the room I reserved...so they gave me a DELUXE suite, SWEET!!! Got a huge room for orbitz rate of $47!! Very clean room, comfy bed. Would've just liked a free breakfast.

The price is right and you get what you pay for. They have a hot tub! The room was pretty clean but has obviously not been updated in decades. If you plan to get out and see the Taos area and not spend a great deal of time in your room this is a great and affordable hotel. The staff was great - they upgraded us to a huge room for free just so we could have a fridge.

The facility was fairly old and dated. It appeared clean and worked for an early season guys ski trip. I would have taken some grief if I had brought my wife here.

Upon check in, we were given a room towards the front of the motel with a broken air conditioner. We called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance over. We waited for about 30 minutes and went to ask the front desk how much longer for maintenance. They gave us a different room. The next room we received was in the back of the motel. The bathroom was full of hair, on the toilet, in the tub, and on the floor. In the middle of the night I woke up because I felt like something was crawling on me. I turned on the light on saw a small bug and flicked it away. When I got up to look at the bed I saw a bug crawling out from under my pillow. IT WAS A BED BUG. When we squished it a bunch of blood came out. Disgusting. We immediately went to the front desk and left the motel. We had a reservation for two nights and tried to cancel which they said we would have to do through Orbitz, they didn't have our money. When we told them about the bed bugs, they said they would have to conduct their own investigation and they were going to have maintenance check. I'm sure maintenance checked into just like they did with the air conditioner in the first room. When we contacted Orbitz to cancel, Orbitz said the motel did not want to refund the money but Orbitz would do it anyway. One more thing the Kachina motel told us was they could not give us our money back for last night. We didn't even ask but I like how they made sure to tell us that. Don't stay here. Not worth the hassle.

Good stay. Fulfilled expectations for an overnight trip.

Warm welcome from the staff. Super helpful when asked where to eat. Free breakfast with local cultural cuisine. Cozy cabin ambiance. Would stay here again.

I knew that this hotel was mid-range before I booked it. It was totally a fun place to stay! It was located in close proximity to the Taos plaza, and the rustic "charm" gave it character.

This hotel is a quick walk to restaurants and shopping. Staff was very pleasant and helpful

Breakfast was the high point. Well done in pleasant surroundings. The room was very large and the location is convenient. The issue is cleanliness or rather the lack of cleanliness. We should not be responsible for cleaning the previous occupants toothpaste from the sink, faucet, and counter. The carpet also was yucky. This is an old building but the owner could counter that by insisting that it be scrupulously clean. That would be the cheapest fix and would let the original appeal shine through.

We were so pleasantly surprised that we stayed 2 nights instead of one. Our original non - smoking room reeked of smoke and when we called the front desk they were very apologetic and moved us to a bigger room which we really liked. Breakfast was included and offered a choice of 7 different entrees...I had Hueco Rancheros and my husband had the omelette. All in all a very good experience with friendly, helpful staff and a great location.

Nice room in a nice location. Very homey. Downtown accessible by walking.

The building is old and needs some upgrading. The heater did not work properly. The shower had a slow drain and the drain stopper was set in the corner of the tub, the toilet was not cleaned properly. We were also looking forward to sitting and enjoying a cocktail after a long drive. A lounge is advertised on the web and also on the sign in front of the hotel. It turns out the lounge has been closed for a year or so. The free breakfast was good and the staff was accommodating the pool area was still open and very clean.

Great friendly staff room was clean and ready Great location to hot spots no need to drive anywhere

It is worn down, old rooms and don't have people on call if you need something done to your room. Free breakfast was awful too.

The room had a slight smell of water damage but wasnt to bad. The breakfest was really good for a free breakfest. The TV is an old school box with very limites stations. We did not have ESPN for example. So if yoir sports fan trying to check out a football game you will have to find a place in town to wacth the game. We booked a king room but a queen and on the sign out front it said the rate was 48 dollars a night. We payed 70. Just something to think about. All in all its a really good value for your money if your looking for a cheap decent place. I'd stay there again but would want the 48 dollar rate.

Convenient location with friendly staff and nice grounds included breakfast - pool was closed for season but looked good

Location just north of plaza. Walls paper thin. This is an old motel. Has character but needs a lot of upgrades to bring it up to par. An annoying generator? motor kept running at night. Didn't help while trying to sleep. Breakfast was subpar. Asked for decaf coffee, not available. Went out for breakfast the next morning. Would not recommend this place. Will not stay here in the future. l l

First time back in many years to the Kachina, and could not have been much better. Easy walking distance to the Plaza and the many charms of Taos in the fall. Overall I have to say that while the room and amenities were good- warm room, great bed, charming coffee shop, hearty breakfast; the room was just a little bit shabby. By no means a deal breaker, (we WILL go back), just sayin'...
