I managed to get a room here for a night before flying out the next day. The staff was super helpful, and even picked me up from the bus stop/took me to the airport at 5:30am the next day. Absolutely plan on going back whenever I visit Santiago.
I stayed at SANA for 8 wonderful days. Great place quiet and nice relaxation place. Crews were wonderful to assist and meet your needs. Will return and can't wait. Oh the garden was a little hidden treasure in itself. I just fell in love all over again. Must visit.
I went to the Dominican Republic as part of a humanitarian trip. I stayed at SANA for 12 days with about 20 other teenagers and a few adults. Honestly, it was one of the best places we stayed the whole trip. When you first go through the gate it's like stepping right into the jungle. There's palm trees, flowers, and winding paths all through the property, as well as little alcoves with hammocks and chairs perfect for just sitting in and relaxing. The main house has an upper level with a hammock that I spent many an afternoon napping in. There is a tiled patio where we ate most of our meals that Naomi cooked. If you want to relax and enjoy the islands beauty, this is the place. It feels like a little paradise in the middle of the Tamboril. As far as the accommodations, I stayed in one of the two bunk rooms with all the other girls on my trip. As long as we had electricity, we had the most wonderful air conditioning and fans plus comfy beds. There are indoor showers, but I recommend the outdoor shower under the stairs; primitive, but the best water pressure-- definitely an experience I wouldn't miss. Eric, the manager (who is absolutely hilarious), Naomi (the most fabulous cook), and her daughters were very friendly. They all showed us around the neighborhood a little bit, taught us some basic Spanish, and showed us how to eat the starfruit they grew at SANA. SANA was all about the true Dominican experience. If I ever get the pleasure of returning, SANA will definitely be my first stop.
I checked out resort at Puerto Plata at noon and had a flight at 3 am next day from Santiago. I decided to stay at SANA. But hotel booking web page said it would charge $100 extra. So I just worked in with rental car. There was a lady who can speak only Spanish. We communicated hardly but finally got the room for two at $24. The room was not twin or double bed room but female dormitory room with many beds. But the guest in the room was only my wife and I. We met another guest who can speak both English and Spanish. He helped me to communicate with the lady there. We requested the lady for our dinner. She cooked chicken stew at their style, which was delicious. She charged 600 peso for dinner for two. We left room keys in the room as agreed and left there midnight. I don't think the location is easy to access without car. You may not able to find there without GPS. Garden was so beautiful.
My 2 teenagers and I had another wonderful vacation in the Dominican. We again returned to Sana, where Frank, the Sana ambassador, made sure that all of our needs were met. He helped us find some beautiful secluded beaches to enjoy. We decided to avoid the crowds of tourists and blend in with the wonderful Dominican people and their culture. We watched Noami, who is Sana's cook, prepare some great traditional dishes on the newly constructed open fire pit. During our 10 day stay, we met people from across the globe who were passing through Sana. Many beautiful new additions were added to the Sana grounds in the last year, which only enhance the tranquility and sense of paradise for its visitors. Can't wait to go back to paradise, which we now know as Sana!
Sana Secret Garden is the most exotic, tranquil, and a great place for the healing of the body, mind and spirit. It's unique combination of tropical trees, flowers, alcove for lovers to sit and bond, ceramic tiles with quotes for the spirit, and the arrangement of small corners for meditation and just enjoying the sound of birds, the wind rustling through the trees, and the sound of chimes placed in many places, is the perfect place to relax, meditate, bond, read, write, and just enjoy yourself become one with the sun, wind, earth, and water. There is a beautiful waterfall in a quaint corner and a gazebo to sit and enjoy its sound and let it wash away all your aches and wounds.
What an idyllic place! I had an overnight stay in November with 3 relatives and in January took a group of 18 people who absolutely fell in love with the place. Flower and fruit gardens, outdoor fire pit, lovely evening settings, and simple, clean accommodations make for an economical delightful stay. You would never know you are under 15 minutes from an international airport and minutes from the main highway to the north coast. The dorms are lovely with double size bunk beds and spacious modern bathrooms. Add the scrumptious breakfast, and attentive staff and you will not want to leave! I had not been to SANA since 2009 and cannot understand how I had not taken the time to return; now my arrivals in Santiago will be punctuated by my visit to this beautiful B&B. Just 45 minutes away is a fantastic recreational spot, 27 charcos--a system of 27 waterfalls in the forest of Imbert, Puerto Plata. Sharon, thank you for creating such a beautiful property!
The 3 Bedroom had not so good beds the others are ok, but that's the only neghative point i can mention for a Country like D.R. .Staff is very helpful and excellent, distance to Stgo Airtport with the new Highway less than 12 min, Wifi is free, Electricity (Inverter Protected) and Water is allways available, the garden simply fantastic in a Cement-City like Stgo this means something, it's really a Hideaway place if you must stay in Stgo, some 10 min away from Centre.
In January of 2012, my wife and I traveled to this island paradise to find the mother and siblings of a Dominican child who was adopted 30 years ago. At age thirty three Ali wanted to find his biological mother and siblings. Upon arrival, Frank (our guide and now friend) picked us up at the airport and brought us to this villa. Our accommodations were beautiful, safe, and well maintained (and inexpensive). But what set this experience apart was the resolve and effort that Frank gave us in finding Ali's family. We traveled through poor neighborhoods with only a few threads of information that we had about his family. Miraculously, by the end of the second day, we had found Ali's family. The roadside reunion is forever etched in my mind. I look back and feel blessed to have witnessed this reunion. Accommodations are wonderful, and this place is great, but when we look back at our lives, it is the people that we meet that elevate any experience.
this is a great place i stood here in 2012 had surgery > staff is great good bedside manner . excellent place to relax meditate . the owner and her staff are very welcoming. i would definitely stay here again and again.
