I didn’t realize that I would be sharing a bathroom in the main house (maybe I didn’t read the listing closely enough?) but it was a comfortable and economical night sleep. Secluded, authentically Alaskan and cozy place to spend a night before my early morning glacier flight. Having stayed at the cruise tourist factory that is the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge for two nights, I highly recommend the Meandering moose lodge over that any day!

Poor signage and directions. Put 4 older 60 people in a cabin with pull down stairs. Had a little hassle to come to an agreement to get a different cabin. The second cabin still had steep stairs.

Excellent place to stay . Clean, convenient to drive. Good night sleep, quiet. Just what I needed a convenient stay from Anchorage.

We had a quick one night stay on our way back to Anchorage. The bed was super comfortable and cozy. We stayed in a room inside the main lodge. The price was right. We had a shared bathroom with one other room, but we lucked out as that other room was vacant. The bathroom was great. It’s a claw foot tub, but did have grab bar for accessibility should you require that. We had a big kitchen with full access to. Our host greeted us with a big smile, was very friendly and helpful. The property has several smaller cabins also. The town of Talkeetna was adorable with a breathtaking view of Denali right at the end of Main Street. Definitely recommend this town on your travels and you would not regret your stay at the Meandering Moose!

The hosts were very nice and friendly. The room was nice. The location was nice and quiet. We are not used to sharing a bathroom, which is really the only thing we didn't care for.

Gorgeous House Amazing bed Great owners

Had a really nice stay, stayed in two different rooms in the lodge. We stayed in a bedroom downstairs, but the Suite upstairs was awesome! Would definitely recommend - Christie is a great host and very accommodating and welcoming.

Property was easy to find, Christie was wonderful and more than helpful. She was more than determined that the stay be enjoyable and inclusive to the point of inviting to a campfire and making sure all possible questions were answered and activities suggested. Wish our stay could have been longer to take more advantage of the hospitality and amenities.

great service, they help us out over the phone to get many contacts for tours in town and actually got us some special discounts. very friendly.staff.!

What a wonderful start to our Alaskan staycation! The kids loved the loft, beds were comfy, cabin clean and the grounds are truly Alaskan! Being dog friendly was a huge bonus too!

Location is rustic and remote, yet very close to town. We didn’t recall that room rate was based on sharing a bathroom, but situation worked out just fine. Staff was exceptional in helpful attitudes and cheerfulness.

Staff friendly and helpful. Clean place, breakfast great. Very nice and clean place. Would come back.

Might be good adventure for adventurous people. But with baby, not at all a good option. Approaching road was the gravel road for a mile or so.. 2. No bathroom inside the cabin. Very difficult at night if want to use, in such forest place, where moose can be around at any time! 3. Bunk bed and futon for sleeping. Might be good for on the go people. But with baby, we found it very uncomfortable. 4. Place had goid vibes though, but we won't recommend to the families with babies, or old age or who need comfort.

the cabin staff were so nice, even though it was off season( winter) they put out a continental breakfast for us. very cozy cabin, the only downfall is the wifi is super slow and not enough to watch a movie off of

Kathy was so easy to deal with. I contacted her several times and she was always so helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and well-furnished. We enjoyed visiting with the other people who were staying in the bed and breakfast. Kathy even popped popcorn for everyone.

The room we were in was nice, however the property is next to a sled dog property and the dogs barked all night, keeping us up. The continental breakfast was minimal, cereal and a loaf of bread.

This is a terrific place to stay! The rooms and building were very clean! Kathy and her daughter Christie are so nice. The breakfast was set up to meet out needs for early travel for fishing. And, the breakfast was great! I have nothing but great things to say about Kathy and her family, the meandering moose lodge!! Next time in Talkeetna, we will stay there again!!

We stayed in a dry cabin here but had access to a shower house. The property is back off the road a ways so you should have a car if you plan to stay here. Owner was nice and helpful. Our cabin was clean and had all the necessities. They do offer cabins that have a bathroom in it and rooms in the b&b.

Thank you for staying with us and for your review! Our two lodge rooms do share a bathroom and we try to have that information on all the booking sites. Most people, like you did, end up being fine with it. We’re glad you were comfy and enjoyed your stay and we hope your flight was amazing!

We're sorry to hear you were not happy with your stay. Although Talkeetna is a historical, remote location, there are laws here. We have signage at the front of the property that follows regulations, same as most Talkeetna businesses. Billboards are not permitted here. We are always available by phone for directions as we were when your wife called to guide you in. We email detailed directions to the property 2 days before arrival. We have checked and the email that went out to you had the full directions, but it appears it printed with a large part missing. Not sure why and we apologize if it was anything on our end. Usually putting the address into a cell phone will bring you to the property also.As we have explained, we do not choose the accommodation for you or for any guest staying with us. Our accommodations are all unique so it is the guests' choice at time of booking. We are then notified by the agent, Orbitz in your case, that a reservation for a specific accommodation was made. Even if we did choose, we could not know your ages on your reservation. We do have numerous photos and descriptions of our cabins and rooms on our website and Expedia and other sites. In that description, we do state that there is an attic style drop down ladder to the sleeping loft that has a low ceiling and it is perfect for kids and young adults. Unfortunately, Orbitz does not allow us to share a description, only pick amenities from a drop down menu. This could be what led to the confusion. We are going to add photos of the ladder up to the loft to hopefully help avoid the misunderstanding happening again. We usually recommend our first floor rooms and first floor suite in our newly renovated lodge for anyone with difficulty ascending stairs.Fortunately, our larger cabin was available and we were happy to upgrade you. Please keep in mind that, since your reservation was through Orbitz, we are not able to cancel your original reservation on your behalf. They require the reservation holder to make any changes. We made an exception as a courtesy since you were having problems communicating with Orbitz. We hope this clears things up a bit and you will decide to stay with us again should you return to Talkeetna. We hope you have a wonderful time and a safe trip home!
