Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan5.0 out of 5.0

Room was fantastic, huge bathrooms with plenty of spaces for the kids to run even after the sofa bed was set up. Bathroom was huge with a separate bathtub and a shower room, typical of those old grandeur hotels but already refurbished with a modern look. Staff were very attentive. Imagine a porter helping you at 5am in the morning. Staff were very accommodating and nice, true blue Tainanese hospitality. The hotel was the highlight of our vacation. Location is brilliant, near the train station as well as the University food street.
We stayed one night in this great hotel. The room was comfortable and services were friendly. The shuttle bus services were convenient to access attractions in Tainan. The hotel is close to the Tainan Railway Station, which is a half-hour ride by train from the Tainan Highspeed Rail Station. Tainan is a historical city with many attractions and great yet cheap food.
The room is clean, spacious and friendly designed. It has a very good gymnasium facilities. The location is great, next to the train station. Do not miss the breakfast, that provides lots of famous local dishes to try.
Took my mom to Tainan for visiting my besties and also for a lil getaway. This time we decided to go with Shangri-la hotel:) The room is quite nice and oriental! Loving the room service and hotel breakfast( got quality food) Will def come back again:)
This Shangrila is not a new hotel I guess, however, they got it well maintanined, even the equipmen is not techonology updated but I found it still in good condition and at acceptable level, even though I still prefer to have electrical toilet coz now even 4-star hotel in Taiwan also got that feature. Easy to cacth taxi coz there is taxi Q just outside. A medium size shopping mall just next to hotel lobby, you can even enter the mall without going outside. You can find some restaurants and a food court at B2 so very convinient for foreinger, of course if you want to have a decent local food, better to walk out toward Univerity campus, the streets are happening, alot of restaurents and filled with students, this hotel is very close to the campus. The Hotel is just opposite local train station, but its slow train, not HSR. The room is gorgous, all room have good view facing out because of its round shape, thats the point I really like it. Also very spacious, equipped with working table and a sofa. The room is pretty open. The breakfast is good, I like it most among many hotels I have stayed in Taiwan. There is an outdoor swiming pool with warm water, not so warm in winter. The meter indicated 25 C degree but I think its colder and I did not dear to swim. If something to improve, I wish their waiters can speak English better. This is a 5-star and many guests are foreigners. In overall, I think this is the place that I will stay if chance to come to Tainan again.
My best hotel experience in Taiwan. Shangri-La was great. the service is excellent, the room was large and comfortable, the gym and spa are the best I had in Taiwan. the breakfast and lunch buffet were also excellent with choices form various cuisines around the world.
This was one of our favorite place to stay in Taiwan, other than the Marriott in Taipei, but it disappointed us with something unimaginable this time. Just 10 minutes after we checked in to our room on the 18th floor, the front desk called me, “hope you wont mind some noises later, there will be a banquet here with a live band on the 10th floor buffet restaurant.”, and then it all happened. This rock-n-roll style band started blasting at its full volume to an open building with a beautiful atrium at its center. Could this really happen in a top notch hotel? This certainly may happen near a local night market or in front of a local temple square, but insides the hotel rooms of one of the best hotel in Tainan? I stopped the general manager by chance who was the unluckiest person in the whole Tainan city tonight, and questioned him the rationale. I forgot what and how he managed to escape from my very presence, but he simply cannot come to terms with himself. At precisely 9:30 pm, this loud and abusive blast finally came to an end. So this hotel rented out its open space to make some extra money and dumped its royal customers like us.
i loved this hotel .... the location is great and convenient, right next to a shopping mall and across the road from Tainan local station, not to be mistaken from Tainan High Speed train station, however it's quick and easy from the HSR station as its a direct line, just 20mins. I opted for a Horizon Club room which was very spacious with a nice lounge area, nice bathroom, nice amenities, 2x bottled water everyday, coffee/tea making facilities. I was on the 27th floor so great views over the city and nice and quiet. Paying the extra for the Horizon Club was well worth every penny, really nice breakfast buffet plus with choices from a menu, eggs, pancakes etc plus local foods, try the soups, delicious, i had a different one every day, all good. In the evenings the happy hour was a choice of wines, beer and mix your own cocktails, plus delicious hot and cold canapés, salads and deserts ... great selection, different each night, a highlight to look forward to at the end of a busy days sightseeing. The Club lounge has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and all the staff are so polite, efficient, helpful and friendly. Winnie and Jessica were amazing sorting out my daily sight seeing trips with directions for walking, trains and buses, simply the best so could i make the most of my time whilst in Tainan, thank you ladies. The swimming is really nice and heated which was good but this time of year a little windy and no sun in the afternoon as the building shades the pool! All in all, a great hotel and when i'm next in Tainan i will definitely stay here again!
1. Location next to the rear hall of Tainan railway station. 2. Over size room with very good city view. 3. Buffet breakfast offer wide varieties with good taste and good service. 4. Gem and swimming pool facility are good. 5. 38th floor Shanghai restaurant offer different taste truly Shanghainee. 6. Front desk staffs offer very good service always with smiles. They even see you off when you checked out to board your car leaving.
Excellent location! Clean and spacious room. Connected to department store and very convenient. Across the street you can find nice hair salon and good price too. Tainan surprised me with its cleanliness and of course the nice and pleasant people around. Went for night market and Anping. Managed to go to the treehouse. Amazingly beautiful. Hotel bellmen are all nice and cheerful. Breakfast was good! I will definitely will come again. Thank you! We enjoyed ourselves.
