InterContinental Resort Tahiti

I really appreciated the welcome at 6:00am after a long trip. We were welcomed and given an opportunity to shower while waiting for a room to be ready in the afternoon. I was even given a cell phone to use so they could call me when the room was ready.

We were first given a standard room with garden view but the air conditioning did not work properly. After 4 attempts to fix the thermostat, the manager offered to upgrade us to a room with lagoon view in the newer section of the property. It was a newly renovated room. We enjoyed the remaining 5 nights at the new room. We were there for a total of 10 nights.

Everything was good except I thought the bathrooms were not really up to date.

For a upscale resort, we found this place to be overpriced, benefitting from inaccessibility allowing it to grossly overcharge for meals, and needing to relook the basics of food service. The buffet was mediocre (soggy French toast, wet lettuce, canned mushrooms, some canned fruit products in an environment that should have specialized in freshness). Only one variety of diet sweetener to go with two sugars. One of the head waitresses showed an attitude that the customers were somehow getting in the way of her doing her job.

It was a great hotel. I loved it. It was not as top-notch as the resort we stayed in Bora Bora, but honestly we were impressed. It has a lagoon that you can snorkel in and the beach is gorgeous. Much better than the LM down the street, which we stayed at a few days beforehand. The food at the Lotus was excellent. Also close to Faaa and town.

resturant and house keeper are very friendly and kind. facilities are very clean and well take care of it. so reluxing place.

Great hotel and overall resort. So beautiful. Limited food options but good quality. Only disappointed that we couldn't check in earlier than 2PM. Hard to believe not one room freed up given we arrived at 6AM.

Nice hotel, good location From all the reviews I read no one ever said how expensive everything is! $50 each person for breakfast. Very pricey everywhere you go.

We were very impressed with the hotel's location, cleanliness and very friendly, accommodating staff. Perfect location for anyone's honeymoon.

This is a must to go hotel. The place is beautiful.

Best hotel on the island. great location. a bit high priced,

Overall great experience with the best room rate i could have asked for.

We had dinner only.

Room not ready at check in time. Room not made up daily. Ran out of towels, etc because hotel staff did not clean room. No bed turn down even when we called for one. Resturant service was terrible. It was like they were trying to ignore you and the prices were sky high.

The pools are amazing, along with the views. The dinner shows are also great. Great stopping off point in tahiti before traveling to the other islands of the area. I would recomend only a couple of night stay. The other islands are just much more beautiful than Tahiti. The hotel stay was a nice ending to our 2 week vacation.

We stayed at the InterContinental's over-water bungalow for a single night at the end of our longer, 16 days trip. Very well maintained, gorgeous gardens and a very nice bungalow with everything in working order. The restaurant prices are way too high, just like in most other Tahitian resorts. Example: Continental Breakfast is about 3000 TF (nearly $40/person). Eating 3 meals at the resort for a couple could easily cost $400+ per day with no wine included. Very nice pools and lagoons on the property. The ocean was not the best place for swimming as there were a lot of fast power-boat traffic across the beach. If you are looking for better, quiet beach or good snorkeling the LeMeridian resort a few miles up the road is a much better bet. Also, given the proximity to the airport, it is not the quietest place.

Great hotel and grounds but unbelievably expensive meals. Hotel restaurant is the only choice.

Nice hotel with several different pools, including a sand bottom pool with an actual deep end deeper than 6 feet. There was also a hammock to lay out on and a real fitness center. The only dissappointment was that the room has a bit of a dated feel. And the rooms are so far from the front desk and takes a good 5-10 minute walk to get there. There was also a can of roach killer in our closet which was disturbing to see. The hotel restaurants are pretty expensive. We ate at Lotus and spent like $80 with limited drinks and still were a little hungry leaving.

French Polynesia's greatest asset is its warm friendly population always ready to answer questions and help you on your way. This hotel is near the airport and has a breathtaking view of Moorea. The market and downtown areas are easily accessible by public transportation. The Royal Tahaitian Ballet gives a marvelous enactment of polynesian folklore. This may be a French island but I couldn't find a proper cafe au lait.

If you are looking for a well appointed hotel that is fairly close to the airport, but light years away, the Intercontinental Beachcomber is the spot. The staff is friendly and the rooms and facilities are world class. The restaurants and bar have a variety and mix that will fit any budget and taste and are just right. The views from everywhere are fantastic and just what you imagine they will be when you plan your trip to Tahiti.
