For me, it is a great location staying here when I coe to Sydney to see family and friends. Love the fact that I overlook lovely gum trees and love its proximity to the University and its beautiful grounds; the shopping centre and the hospital's cafe for a snack during the day. Rooms are comfortalbe and spacious and very clean..
the rooms are somewhat dated and the level of cleanliness and food offering needs an overhaul. On the other hand the location is good and staff pleasant. I would only look to stay again if there was no other hotel available in the area.
We stay here regularly when I access care for my medical condition at Macquarie University Hospital. It is so convenient to be able to walk the short distance to the hospital with not a worry about travelling through Sydney traffic!
I agree with other reviewers, the first thing I noticed was a smell like old cooking oil which seemed to fill the building - you got used to it after a while. The wardrobe had very little hanging space - I had to remove the ironing board to let me hang 3 shirts and a jacket. It was all very basic - the shower looked like something out of a jail, no plug for the sink, only one small litter bin in the room (in the bathroom) and most annoyingly, no power points near the bed so I had to charge my phone on the other side of the room at night. Just not what you’d expect compared to usual Travelodge standards.
The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The room was very comfortable. We had room service the prices were great, we had fish and chips. The meal was still hot, not soggy or cold. The piece of fish was the size of the dinner place, and the chips were yummy. The waiting time was pretty quick as well. My daughter had to go to the hospital that night, the staff rang the hospital, organised the taxi, and when we got to reception they had tissues and a sick bag waiting with the taxi. The late check out at 11am was great as we didn't get back from the hospital till gone one in the morning. Three minutes walk from the Macquarie shopping centre, which was huge. I would stay here again, thank you for all your help.
I found the accommodation very unpleasant the smell in the foyer was very off putting the room was fine ,I would normally dine where I stay but on this occasion I didn't due to the smell of the place. I did look through the kitchen door and although the kitchen looked clean I could not get past the dirty oil smell that was all the way through the building. I advised a fellow staff member no to stay at the accommodation due to the smell
Second time at this hotel. Very satisfied again. Great breakfast (especially on a 2 for 1 basis). Friendly and helpful staff. Will stay here again in the future. Closeness to M7 and Macquarie Centre a plus.
I had a day surgery at the Macquarie University Hospital. Since I had to go back to see my doctor early next morning, I chose to stay at the North Ryde Travelodge. My surgery finished at 9:30am. With my conditions at that time I was a bit worry where to stay until check-in time. However, the gentleman at the reception was extremely nice and considerate. He let me and my wife check in right away. We couldn't thank him enough. This kind of service was beyond our expectations. This was the third time we stayed at this hotel. We had the Queen room. It was spacious with dining table, sofa, coffe table and a microwave oven. There was still room to move around. The room was clean and comfortable. We liked the bed which was just firm enough for a good night sleep. The free wi-fi came in handdy for a smartphone. All in all it was very good experience and very good value for money staying at the North Ryde Traveloge.
The place was OK other than the smell from the kitchen that permeated the hotel day and night. It made me nauseous the whole time I was there. It affected my sleeping and eating habits. The place was fine other than that. The food was very average at best, but the location was about as convenient as it could be for my needs. Staff was very nice.
Was disappointed to be issued 2 unmade and unclean rooms in a row before the staff found a room that had been cleaned. I believe that standard is not accepted in small privately owned motels and should never happen with large chains such as Travelodge.
